Indian filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has responded strongly to recent remarks made by Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos about the streaming platform's initial programming choices in India.
Kashyap, who co-created Netflix India's debut original series Sacred Games ', did not mince words.
The controversy began during Sarandos' appearance on a Nikhil Kamath podcast, where the executive reflected on Netflix's early foray into the Indian market.
He expressed reservations about whether launching with Sacred Games in 2018 was the right strategic move, suggesting the platform might have benefited from a more "populist" content offering at the time.
Kashyap took to Instagram to express his displeasure, sharing a screenshot of a report on Sarandos' comments on Nikhil Kamath's podcast.
In a post, he wrote, "... I always knew the tech guys are dumb when it comes to storytelling, but @tedsarandos is the definition of dumb - that I didn't know. Good to discover that. This explains everything now."

NO â¦ There are Three Heroes in Hera Pheri . ðâ¤ï¸ — Paresh Rawal (@SirPareshRawal) June 9, 2025 Rawal's sudden departure from the third instalment of the Hera Pheri dfrew surprise and shock, with actor Akshay Kumar, one of the movie's producers, suing Rawal for his move. Rawal shared an update on May 25, saying that his lawyer has sent an "appropriate response" regarding his rightful "termination and exit" from the film to the makers. Taking to X, the actor wrote, "My lawyer... has sent an appropriate response regarding my rightful termination and exit. Once they read my response, all issues will be laid to rest." Hera Pheri 3 is being directed by Priyadarshan, and stars Kumar and Suneil Shetty. Shetty, in an earlier interview to ANI, said he was left "completely heartbroken" after hearing of Rawal's exit from the movie. "... So, I need to call and find out, and I'm completely heartbroken because if there was one film that I was looking forward to, it was Hera Pheri, you know," he said, adding that a third instalment cannot happen without Rawal.
