The minor girl told police that after her boyfriend fled, two men "threatened her" and forcefully pulled out her nose pin, which caused it to bleed. They "took turns to rape her".
A minor girl from Kanpur went through a traumatic experience after her lover allegedly abandoned her in a secluded area following an attempt by two strangers to blackmail them with a video. According to reports, prior to this incident, her lover also assaulted her sexually.
The incident reportedly occurred in the Maharajpur area of Kanpur on July 26. The girl, who is from the same locality, was in a relationship with a young man named Mahesh, a resident of Fatehpur. On the day of the incident, Mahesh had come to visit her, and the two went for a walk in the Sarsaul Bazar area.
Goons Threaten With Video, Demand Money
While returning, the couple sat near the boundary wall of a school. It was there that two individuals identified as Divyanshu alias Lucky (19) and his 15-year-old friend arrived and started filming them, PTI reported. The intention behind the video was to blackmail the couple.
After making the video, the accused allegedly demanded Rs 7,000 and threatened to leak it if they didn't get the money. According to Aaj Tak, Mahesh told them he would send the money online, but they insisted on cash and then started molesting the girl. In fear, Mahesh ran away and left the girl alone with the two accused.
The girl told police that once she was alone, both men began threatening her. The report further mentioned that they snatched Rs 1,000 from her purse and forcefully pulled her nosepin, which caused it to bleed. She claimed that despite giving them money, they didn't stop and took turns to rape her.
Boyfriend Also Accused Of Rape
'The victim had been with her boyfriend, identified as Mahesh (19), a resident of Fatehpur district. Mahesh had allegedly taken her to a secluded spot in Maharajpur under the pretext of making some purchases and raped her," Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Satyajeet Gupta said as quoted by PTI. While the couple was together, Divyanshu and his friend approached them and started filming the act to blackmail them and later raped the girl.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Chakeri) Abhishek Pandey told PTI that the accused dropped the girl near her house on their motorcycle after several hours.
The minor girl later approached the police and filed a report at the Maharajpur police station. Police said her medical examination has been conducted, and her statement will be recorded.
Divyanshu has been arrested and sent to jail, while the 15-year-old accomplice has been sent to a juvenile home, PTI reported. The police have initiated a search for Mahesh, who is currently on the run.

Maharashtra government to probe 26 lakh 'suspect' beneficiaries of Ladki Bahin Yojana
Synopsis The Maharashtra government has initiated a large-scale verification drive targeting over 26 lakh beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin Yojana due to suspicions of ineligibility and misuse. District administrations are physically verifying applications, with anganwadi workers conducting door-to-door checks to identify ineligible claimants based on age and household criteria. iStock The Maharashtra government has ordered a large-scale verification drive targeting over 26 lakh beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin Yojana amid suspicions of widespread ineligibility and misuse, state Women and Child Development department officials said on administrations have been directed to physically verify applications and eligibility of the listed women based on set criteria, while anganwadi workers have been tasked with conducting door-to-door checks to weed out ineligible claimants, they scheme allows only two women per household between the ages of 21 and 65 to receive benefits, but officials said cases have emerged where more than two women from the same family, or those outside the age bracket, have availed themselves of the monthly payment of Rs 1, to the department's officials, the current scrutiny focuses on two primary conditions, namely age and number of beneficiaries per household."Women found outside the eligible age group will be disqualified, and in households with more than two beneficiaries, only two will remain eligible. Additional checks are being conducted for bogus documents, false transfer certificates, and ownership of four-wheelers," an official said. Launched by the then Mahayuti government last year, the Ladki Bahin Yojana is credited with helping the ruling alliance, comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP, retain power comprehensively in the November 2024 assembly reports revealed that around 14,000 men had received payments, amounting to more than Rs 21 crore, under the scheme for up to 10 months. In a separate probe, more than 2,000 government employees were found to have taken undue advantage of the scheme."The ongoing verification will also cover Jalna district, where 70,000 beneficiaries are under scrutiny. The WCD department has prepared a list of suspected ineligible claimants, and field checks have already begun in several districts," the official said. The department indicated the verification is also being driven by the mounting financial burden of the scheme on the state exchequer as applications were approved initially without stringent checks in the run-up to the Assembly elections.

Probe ordered into alleged lapses in Chandni Chowk revamp project, AAP calls move desperate
1 2 New Delhi: Public Works Department minister Parvesh Verma has ordered an inquiry into alleged irregularities in the execution of the Chandni Chowk redevelopment project. According to an initial report, there are allegations of sharp cost escalation, bypassing the cabinet, and illegal approval and diversion of funds by the then minister in charge of PWD. While the overall spending on the project jumped from the estimated cost of Rs 65.6 crore to Rs 145 crore, mandatory sanctions were not obtained on revised estimates, the department alleged. The project suffered from "severe deficiencies" in cost estimation, planning and financial control, and overall execution lacked due diligence, resulting in large-scale irregularities and fiscal indiscipline, the initial findings revealed. "The Chandni Chowk redevelopment project stands as a textbook case of how public money can be mishandled when rules are bent and procedures bypassed. In 2019, under the then minister-in-charge, costs spiralled, tenders were ignored and crores were diverted — all without mandatory approvals," the minister said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Treatment That Might Help You Against Back Pain! Back Pain Treatment | Search Ads Undo "Under my watch, PWD will not be a playground for irregularities… it will be a fortress of transparency and accountability, where every paisa serves the people, not personal interests," he added. AAP said BJP was conducting inquiries out of "desperation". "BJP wants to file hundreds of false cases against AAP functionaries. This is being done to dissuade them from asking questions to the govt. For the past 10 years, vigilance and ACB were under the LG and it was his duty to ensure that corrupt officers were punished. It was the LG who was appointing officers to various positions. Opening inquiries into old cases only shows the incompetence of their LG," AAP alleged. The first phase of the project, which aimed to restore the grandeur of the Mughal-era marketplace, combining infrastructure upgrades with aesthetic improvements, was inaugurated in Sept 2021. The 1.3km redeveloped stretch, from Lal Jain Mandir to Fatehpuri, was made pedestrian-friendly and aesthetically revitalised. It was executed by Shahjahanabad Redevelopment Corporation (SRDC), a special-purpose vehicle. The second phase of the project, which focused on facade restoration and improving architectural consistency, however, remains stalled. According to the initial findings, Delhi govt sanctioned Rs 99.68 crore for phase I. However, during the construction, the initial cost of civil and electrical works alone increased from Rs 27.79 crore to Rs 106 crore. "As per the established norms, a revised sanction must be obtained when project costs exceed the approved limits, but PWD continued spending beyond the sanctioned amount of Rs 99.68 crore without obtaining the mandatory revised approval," said an official. He added, "Instead of submitting a revised preliminary estimate of Rs 145 crore, reflecting the actual scope and cost, the department submitted only an additional estimate of Rs 40.6 crore, which was a deliberate attempt to avoid presenting the complete proposal before the cabinet, which is mandatory for projects exceeding Rs 100 crore." Officials said the initial findings also pointed towards irregular execution through the same contractor without floating a new tender, and more than Rs 70 crore were spent on "extra items and deviations". Officials said the initial findings also revealed that Rs 30 crore were diverted from PWD's maintenance head to SRDC without obtaining mandatory concurrence from the finance department. "The engineer-in-chief directly submitted the file to the minister-in-charge, bypassing both the secretary in charge of the department and the concurrence of the finance department, which is a serious breach of rules and regulations," said an official.
