Sharon Osbourne says that reports that Black Sabbath's Back To The Beginning farewell show raised $190 million for charity are "just ridiculous"
Sharon Osbourne says that some of the "false press" surrounding the amount of money raised for charity by Black Sabbath's farewell Back To The Beginning shown in Birmingham last month is "ridiculous".
In the aftermath of the spectacular July 5 event at Villa Park, roundly acclaimed as the greatest heavy metal concert of all time, the show's musical director Tom Morello posted a series of photos from the day on Instagram, one photo of Ozzy Osbourne overlaid with the line "More than 190 million will be donated to houses and hospitals for children."
Billboard magazine reported that the event had raised $190 million, while The Guardian reported that the pay-per-view livestream of the event reached more than five million fans, generating an estimated $150 million in revenue. It had been promised that 100% of the proceeds from the livestream would go to Acorns Children's Hospice, Birmingham Children's Hospital and Cure Parkinson's.
Interviewed for live music industry bible Pollstar, however, Sharon Osbourne says that these claims are over-inflated. "One of the things that's frightening me is all this false press about [how], we've made $140 million and all of this, and I'm like, God, I wish we could have, for one gig," Osbourne says. "It's just ridiculous, the different stories. I went on the internet the next morning and it was like, $140 million, $160 million. And I'm like, Where does this stuff come from?""It takes a really long time [to work out the sums incvolved], because we've had all of the bands that we had come in and their expenses, and it'll take a good six weeks to get the final number," she continued.
When Pollstar writer Ray Waddell notes, "These reports are not helpful for the Children's Hospital to see, waiting for their $190 million", Osbourne responds, "Oh my God! It's the Children's Hospital, a children's hospice, and Parkinson's research. Everybody thinks that they're going to cure everything with this much money, but it's not the real world."
These concerns aside, Osbourne pronounced the event, which also featured her late husband's final show as a solo artist, as well as performances from Metallica, Slayer, Guns N' Roses, Tool and many, many more, "a huge success."
"It was a phenomenal event," she says. "It was the first time, I think, that anybody's gone into retirement and done it, where the show is streamed and it goes to charity. So it's the first time anybody has said goodnight like that, it's the perfect way, when you've had such a long career, to end it. I never wanted Ozzy to just disappear without some big event."
Ozzy Osbourne passed away on July 22, just a few weeks after his emotional farewell performances.

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a well-oiled machine, and fans are constantly treated to new content in theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. One of the most highly anticipated upcoming Marvel movies is Ryan Coogler's Black Panther 3, which is still in its earliest stages of development. A new rumor claims to know when it'll hit theaters, and I really hope it's true. Those who spent years watching the Marvel movies in order will know that some franchises stand out as fan favorites. Black Panther is definitely in that category, which is why fans are so eager to see what comes next after Wakanda Forever's ending. In a new episode of The Hot Mic, scooper Jeff Sneider offered a timeline about that developing threequel. He offered: Black Panther 3, that's February 2028. That's going to start production at the top of 2027. And that will be in theaters February 2028. Well, that's exciting. While just a rumor at this point, this offers an actual timeline about when we should expect Coogler's third Black Panther movie to film and eventually hit theaters. Since almost nothing about that project has been revealed to the general public, this is sure to promptly go viral. Disney+: from $9.99 a month w/ ad-supported planDisney+ is the home for the MCU. Plans start at $9.99 a month for its new ad-supported plan. Go ad-free and pay $15.99 a month or save 16% and pre-pay $159.99 for a Deal As previously mentioned, we're pretty much in the dark for the next big screen adventure in Wakanda. Coogler and company have been keeping their cards close to the chest, although Denzel Washington revealed he's expected to have a role in the blockbuster. Although exactly who he might play in Black Panther 3 is a total mystery. Given how little progress has been made so far, a February 2028 release date seems reasonable for Coogler's threequel. We'll just have to wait and see if/when this schedule is confirmed by the studio. Narratively, there are plenty of threads to pull from with a third Black Panther movie. The first sequel ended with Shuri becoming the next Panther, but not taking the throne. It was heavily implied that M'Baku might become king, but Wakanda Forever's credits scene revealed that T'Challa and Nakia had a secret son. As such, he might have his own claim to the throne. We might have to wait a few years to see another BP movie, but connections to Wakanda continue to be part of the MCU. The animated series Eyes of Wakanda is on Disney+ now, and the Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement confirmed Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, and Tenoch Huerta Mejía would be reprising their roles as Shuri, M'Baku, and Namor, respectively. All will be revealed when Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18th, 2026, as part of the 2026 movie release list. Let's just hope that we get information about the future of the Black Panther franchise sooner rather than later.

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is constantly offering new content, thanks to projects coming in theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. One of the most hotly anticipated upcoming Marvel movies is Ryan Coogler's Black Panther 3, which is in development. Denzel Washington revealed he's being written a role in the blockbuster, breaking the internet in the process. So obviously he was asked about that again recently. While Black Panther 3 has a rumored release window, basically nothing is known about what's going to happen in the big screen return to Wakanda. While Ryan Coogler said Washington was like family, exactly who he'll be playing in the MCU is a mystery. When speaking with ScreenRant about his new Spike Lee movie Highest 2 Lowest, he was asked about joining the beloved Marvel franchise. Unfortunately he only offered: That's between me and Ryan. Fine, you can play it cool Mr. Washington. Almost nothing is known about what the third Black Panther movie will be about, and it seems like it's going to stay that way for the time being. After all Wakanda Forever's ending offered a number of thrilling narrative threads to pull from. Of course, it's also possible that Washington might not actually know what will go down with his role in Ryan Coogler's threequel. The movie is seemingly only its in early development stage, and it's unclear how much writing the Sinners filmmaker has done so far. So we might all just have to try and be patient. Disney+: from $9.99 a month w/ ad-supported planDisney+ is the home for the MCU, including Black Panther. Plans start at $9.99 a month for its new ad-supported plan. Go ad-free and pay $15.99 a month or save 16% and pre-pay $159.99 for a Deal As previously mentioned, the events of the second Black Panther left a bunch of question about the future of Coogler's beloved franchise. At the end of the film Shuri became the next Panther, but didn't take the trial to try and rule her fictional country. Instead, it was hinted that M'Baku might be the new King. Additionally, the Wakanda Forever credits scene revealed that T'Challa and Nakia had secretly had a baby. This could add another fold to who will ultimately sit on the Throne and be in control of the high tech society and its mines of Vibranium. Ever since Washington let slip about his role in Black Panther 3, fans have been wondering who he might play in the forthcoming blockbuster. Fans who spent years watching the Marvel movies in order know that Coogler's franchise is a favorite, so the pressure is on for the third installment to deliver. Especially after recent sequels like Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania and Thor: Love and Thunder failed to resonate with audiences. No pressure. Fingers crossed that we get more information about Black Panther 3 sooner rather than later.

Denzel Washington On Oscars Award Snubs: 'Man Gives The Award, God Gives The Reward.'
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Denzel Washington is one of the most celebrated actors of his generation, and he's headlined more than a few iconic films. Because of his acclaimed work, the seasoned star of stage and screen has received various awards, including a pair of Academy Awards. As a two-time Oscar winner, Washington is in rarified air, though he doesn't seem to place too much emphasis on those achievements. In fact, he recently explained why he doesn't think too much about the wins or snubs he's received at the hands of the Academy. The upcoming A24 movie, Highest 2 Lowest, is Denzel Washington's latest feature film, and it sees him reuniting with longtime collaborator Spike Lee. Washington recently caught up with Jake Hamilton of Jake's Takes, during which Hamilton mentioned the actor's two Oscars. Ultimately, Washington was quick to express his disinterest in such accolades. The A-lister then referenced his long-known devotion to religion while explaining his rationale: I don't do it for Oscars, I really don't care about that kind of stuff. I've been at this a long time, and there are times where I won, shouldn't have won and shouldn't have won and won and didn't win and should've won. Man gives the awards, God gives the rewards. I'm not that interested in Oscars. Denzel Washington won his first Academy Award in 1990, as he earned Best Supporting Actor for his role as Private Silas Trip in the 1989 historical drama, Glory. And, in 2002, Washington became the second Black man to earn Best Actor, winning for his performance in 2001's Training Day. On top of that, the 70-year-old star has also received Oscar nominations for seven other films, like Malcolm X, Cry Freedom and Fences. Nevertheless, based on his interview (which is on YouTube), Washington is unfazed by those honors: People ask, 'Well, where do you keep it?' I say, 'Next to the other one.' … I'm not bragging. I'm just telling you how I feel about it. On my last day, [awards] ain't gonna do me a bit of good. This is honestly a very healthy perspective to have. Awards can be cool, as it's an honor for someone to be recognized by their peers or any governing body. However, it's also easy to become fixated on pursuing accolades. I'd imagine that when someone's an actor, it's especially easy to become focused on those gold statuettes the Academy hands out. All in all, the Philadelphia alum isn't looking to fall down the rabbit hole in the pursuit of trophies, and he's exuded that mentality many times. Just earlier this year, Denzel Washington addressed his Oscars snub for his scene-stealing work in Gladiator II. Washington offered a refreshing take at the time, saying that he'd 'been around too long' to concern himself with something like that. He also expressed pleasure in working on Othello, which he was performing at the time. Nevertheless, Washington does mind imparting wisdom upon those who are nominated, as he also offered some keen advice for Colman Domingo, who received two consecutive Oscar nominations. Regardless of what awards Denzel Washington wins or loses, I'm just prepared to savor all of the performances he's still aiming to give. That includes Black Panther 3 (which he's discussed) and of course, Highest 2 Lowest. Check out that latest Spike Lee Joint when it opens in theaters on August 15 as part of the 2025 movie schedule. Apple TV+ subscription holders will also be able to stream the film starting on September 5. Solve the daily Crossword
