YouTube (GOOGL) Hopes to Improve User Interactions with Two New AI Features

Business Insider9 hours ago

YouTube (GOOGL), the top video streaming platform in the world, has just announced two new AI features designed to improve the way that users find and interact with videos. One of the new tools is a carousel-style display that appears during search results. This AI-powered feature shows short video clips and descriptions created by content creators. For instance, if someone searches 'best beaches in Hawaii,' they will see a scrollable row of video previews, like 'best snorkel spots' or 'volcanic beaches,' along with helpful summaries and suggestions.
Confident Investing Starts Here:
For now, the carousel feature will only be available to YouTube Premium members in the U.S., and it will focus on searches related to shopping, travel, or things to do in a certain location. YouTube also shared that it will start offering its conversational AI tool to some non-premium users in the U.S., after receiving positive feedback from Premium members. This AI tool can answer questions and recommend more videos without pausing or stopping the one that is already playing, therefore making the experience smoother for users.
Separately, parent company Alphabet launched Gemini CLI, which is a new open-source AI tool that lets users access its Gemini AI model directly through the command line. Designed to be fast and easy to use, it's great for coding, but also handles tasks such as content creation, research, and task management. Google has also integrated Gemini CLI with its Gemini Code Assist tool, so that developers on any plan—free or paid—can use AI-driven coding features in both VS Code and the terminal.
Is Google Stock a Good Buy?
Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Strong Buy consensus rating on GOOGL stock based on 29 Buys and nine Holds assigned in the past three months. Furthermore, the average GOOGL price target of $199.20 per share implies 14.8% upside potential from current levels.

Google's Pixel Camera now teaches you how to use all the best features — here's how

Google has started to roll out a new feature that wants to help you get the most out of your Pixel phone's camera app. With the launch of Android 16 and the recent June 2025 Feature Drop, we've seen Google unveil a bunch of new additions, including a Pixel VIP widget and Google Photos' new editing tools. However, one of the announced features, the 'camera education hub,' didn't go live when the 2025 update was released. But things have started moving as Google Pixel users are gaining access to the feature. The education hub serves as a means to inform users of what their Pixel device's camera can do, through the use of tips and sample shots. To take a look, users only need to tap the new '?' icon that appears in the top right corner of their app. When opened, Google will first present the users with a variety of sample shots to help inform them what each camera mode and option is capable of. There's also a floating button at the bottom of the screen labelled 'Open Camera,' which will instantly take you back to the main camera viewfinder interface. However, while it is always visible while in the education hub, it won't take you to the camera mode you were looking at when you first opened the hub. This is an odd omission, but one I imagine will be patched eventually. Also, while you can find tips relating to the 10-bit HDR video recording, manual lens recording, Pro controls and Locked Folders at the bottom of the screen, there is no mention of Social Share. This would appear to indicate that Google has no intention of returning the feature after it was removed in the recent Feature Drop. This education hub is the kind of feature that I wish we saw more of, as it does a lot for new users of a device. Both the Pixel 9 Pro and the Pixel 9a sit as some of the best camera phones on the market, but figuring out how to use some of the camera features can be overwhelming. This is especially true for older users, and the education hub could be a major advantage for them. However, there are some minor annoyances, like the Open Camera button, that need to be solved in future patches. We found that the education hub was available on our Pixel devices, as have other publications, indicating that this is a global rollout. If users are interested in trying this out, you should make sure your Pixel's camera app is updated to the latest version, as the hub will reportedly not show up on releases older than version 9.9. Buy this megacap tech stock that's set to rally more than 20% due to AI, says Citizens

The ramp up in artificial intelligence may send shares of Alphabet higher in the coming months, according to Citizens. The investment firm upgraded the "Magnificent Seven" name to market outperform from market perform and set its price target at $220, implying nearly 27% upside from Thursday's close. "We believe AI is a net tailwind, with ChatGPT's impact too small today to move enough queries away from Google to materially impact results, while AI is expanding the search opportunity by answering a broader array of queries and extending monetization as AI better infers user intent," analyst Andrew Boone wrote in a note published Thursday. While the megacap tech stock has fallen more than 8% this year, it has rebounded about 6% over the past three months. It has also jumped more than 4% in the past week amid investor confidence in AI, which propelled other stocks linked to the industry like Nvidia higher this week as well. GOOGL 3M mountain GOOGL, 3-month Boone thinks that Google's AI Overviews – a feature that offers a summary of answers to search questions at the top of Search – will reach 4 billion monthly users by the third quarter of this year, seeing that the feature will cover about two-thirds of queries by the next quarter. That would be up from 1.5 billion monthly users in the first quarter of this year. "With AI Overviews becoming generally available in the U.S. as of May and leading to 10% query growth in testing, we believe AI is a net tailwind," he continued. "Net/net, AI is growing the use of search at a faster rate than ChatGPT is taking share." The analyst also projects that Search revenue growth will accelerate in the second as a result of AI supporting query growth and the development of Google's ad products. Wall Street is mostly bullish on Alphabet, as 43 out of 55 analysts have issued strong buy or buy ratings on the stock. Its nearly $202 consensus target also reflects more than 16% upside from here.
