Nwaneri signs new long-term Arsenal deal

Arsenal teenager Ethan Nwaneri has signed a new five-year contract which will keep him at the Premier League club until the summer of 2030. The 18-year-old's previous deal had been set to expire in June 2026. "It means everything to me, I'm so happy to have got it done. This is where I feel at home, and where I'm going to develop the best," he said. "I'm very excited. I see this as my first real season and part of a proper squad in the changing room. I'm so excited for what I can bring to the team and how I can help the team. "I think I've actually become more direct over the past few years and I've added more goals, so I'm excited for what will come next." Nwaneri made headlines when he became the youngest player ever to appear in the Premier League aged 15 years and 181 days old against Brentford in September 2022. And the attacking midfielder made 37 appearances and scored nine goals in all competitions during a breakthrough campaign for the Gunners last term. He capped a fine 2024-25 season by helping England Under-21s defend their European Championship title in Slovakia in June. Ready to thrill - De Cuyper relishes link up with Mitoma

Max De Cuyper is relishing the chance to partner Kaoru Mitoma in the Premier League. And he said he is likely to pop up in goalscoring positions when the time is right. De Cuyper is expected to make his Prem debut when Albion face Fulham on Saturday. He capped a promising pre-season campaign following his summer move from Club Brugge by scoring the winner against Wolfsburg. The left-sided link between De Cuyper, a converted winger, and Mitoma looks an exciting one for the Seagulls. De Cuyper said: 'If you can play with a winger like this, I think everybody knows his qualities. More on De Cuyper... Minteh takes star billing and De Cuyper shows what he can offerBig decision which changed De Cuyper's career - and could be great news for AlbionEnjoy De Cuyper? So far, so good as Max catches the eye in Albion dress rehearsal 'I can take advantage of his qualities and, if he is pulling to defenders to him, it gives me more space to do something. 'I think we have a good co-operation between each other and we can use it.' De Cuyper finished from the six-yard to secure the 2-1 success over Wolfsburg. He added: 'I was in the right place. 'It can be that I will be there often with the right timing. 'Not every attack I will be there so I have to take my moment and hopefully score more goals.' De Cuyper had his first run-out during the trip to Spain and believes he has progressed through pre-season. He added: 'I needed some time. We already had a long preparation so I really needed the time to know my team-mates. 'It's not from the first friendly I am playing like this. 'I start to know my team-mates now and the way we want to play so it is growing every week.'

Liverpool Linked with £35m Move to Sign Serie A Wonderkid

Liverpool Should Move for Giovanni Leoni Now Giovanni Leoni has quickly become one of the most talked-about young defenders in Serie A. At only 18, he has impressed for Parma with performances that suggest he is ready for a bigger stage. Liverpool's interest makes perfect sense and the timing could not be better. Rising Talent in Serie A Leoni stands at around 1.95 metres, combining height with agility and technical skill. In 17 league appearances for Parma last season, he helped secure three clean sheets and averaged close to 80 percent success in aerial duels. His reading of the game and ability to step in front of opponents mark him out as a front-foot defender, the kind who thrives in high-line systems. Equally comfortable on the ground, Leoni is known for his composure in possession. His range of passing, including long diagonals and line-breaking balls, mirrors the qualities Liverpool value in their central defenders. Ideal Successor to Van Dijk Liverpool's central defence is anchored by Virgil van Dijk, now 34 and entering the final two years of his deal. Ibrahima Konaté remains an important figure but his future is yet to be secured with a new contract. Joe Gomez provides depth but his availability has been inconsistent. This creates a clear opening for a young, high-potential defender to come in, learn from senior players and be ready to step up in two seasons. Leoni could gain minutes in domestic cups, occasional league fixtures and European matches, giving him the experience needed to adapt to the Premier League. Smart Investment for the Future Parma reportedly value Leoni at around £35 million with add-ons. While significant, the fee reflects his top-flight experience, tactical intelligence and physical attributes. Italian defenders have long been respected for their positional discipline and defensive nous, and Leoni adds the modern flair of progressive passing and versatility. Liverpool's recruitment under Arne Slot has shown a focus on planning ahead. Bringing in Leoni now would secure a long-term defensive option who can grow into a leader at the back, ensuring continuity when the time comes to refresh the starting partnership.
