Major revamp set in motion: Slums in city's centre to shift

Time of India17 hours ago

Bhopal: Bhopal's central area is undergoing significant urban development changes, with plans to relocate slum settlements near Vallabh Bhawan to the Banganga area and other areas within 3 to 5 km in the vicinity, according to officials.
Information suggests that nine slum settlements situated near Vallabh Bhawan will be shifted to Banganga, near Jinsi and other locations where estimated 14,000 permanent residences will be built through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement.
The communities affected include Vallabh Nagar, Vallabh Nagar-2, Om Nagar, Bhim Nagar, Durga Nagar-1 and 2, Ashok Samrat Nagar, Kumharpura, and Jhada Colony.
Initially intended for on-site redevelopment, these plans were cancelled due to their location near the high-security Vallabh Bhawan zone. The administration has identified govt land in Banganga for the new development in the project.
Senior officials, including divisional commissioner Sanjeev Singh, collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh, and Bhopal municipal corporation commissioner Harendra Narayan, have reviewed the proposal.

Sources indicate that construction will commence after the urban administration department approves the detailed project reports. This relocation will release approximately 125 acres of land in central Bhopal.
For the whole of the state capital, earlier in November, BMC began conducting computerised socio-economic surveys, including MIS entry of households in the identified slums.
The initiative, part of JhuggiMukt Bhopal Yojana, encompasses 388 slums and over 1.5 lakh households, focusing on slum rehabilitation in the city with private participation.
Following the identification phase, the slum land will be monetised.
Many slums occupy valuable locations. Private developers will construct new housing for current residents while developing commercial spaces to ensure project sustainability.

'I'm broke?' Antonio Brown trolls the media with $24 million bank screenshot and NSFW tweet

Antonio Brown claps back at bankruptcy reports with $24M bank balance and NSFW tweet -The Antonio Brown chaos train is back on the tracks and this time, it's riding straight through the bankruptcy headlines. On June 25, multiple sports outlets reported that the former NFL wide receiver, who once made over $100 million in career earnings, had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. They claimed AB had less than $50,000 in assets and owed nearly $3 million in debts, from lawsuit judgments to unpaid vendors. Fans were shocked. Critics dunked on him. And within hours, Brown fired back, loudly. AB posted a screenshot of $24 million in his account and told the media to fall back Rather than release a statement or deny the reports the traditional way, AB did what only AB would do, he reposted the viral MLFootball tweet about his 'heartbreaking' bankruptcy and attached a screenshot showing what appears to be a money market account with a $24,001,006.09 balance. His caption? 'bankrupt over get off my 🍆' Yep. That's the tweet. No follow-up. No context. Just a flex and an emoji. Fans on X were instantly split: is AB trolling again? Is the screenshot real? Is the account even his? Or is this just peak Antonio Brown energy in response to the headlines? Social media is eating it up and no one knows what to believe anymore After Antonio Brown clapped back at bankruptcy headlines with a screenshot claiming he has over $24 million in the bank, fans flooded the replies and let's just say, it turned into a comedy show. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The 20 Most Expensive Cars Of All Time Undo Users like @RickyRobby99 and @strallweat couldn't help but clown AB's money management skills: 'Why you got that much in a money market breh. Get a financial advisor 😂😂' and 'Let me be your financial advisor 🙏' Another user @miketx95 joked, 'Let me hold $3,' while others asked, 'You need a loan, AB?' Image via X The most chaotic part? Brown's court filing reportedly listed his own company, CTESPN, as a debtor. So while the bankruptcy is real, AB may be trying to separate personal wealth from business debt or he may just be trolling for fun. It's always hard to tell with him. Bankruptcy headlines or not, Antonio Brown's response was exactly what you'd expect: loud, unfiltered, and totally meme-worthy. Whether that $24 million is real, exaggerated, or just a decoy, one thing's for sure, AB's not going down quietly. And if he is broke, he's broke with a verified account and a Wi-Fi connection strong enough to break the internet. All banks need to swiftly pass on 50-bps rate cut to customers: RBI Bulletin

The Reserve Bank of India has urged all banks to reduce their lending rates to support faster and more efficient transmission of recent policy rate cuts to borrowers, according to an article in its June 2025 Bulletin. The RBI had earlier this month cut the key repo rate by a sharp 50 basis points. The article, titled State of the Economy , stated that financial conditions remained favourable for an effective transmission of rate cuts into the credit market. "Financial conditions remained conducive to facilitate an efficient transmission of rate cuts to the credit market," the authors wrote. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The Simple Morning Habit for a Flatter Belly After 50! Lulutox Undo Most banks have already passed on the earlier cuts from February and April to borrowers. Large lenders such as State Bank of India , Bank of Baroda and HDFC Bank had transmitted the 50 bps reduction in repo rate to their customers within days of the June 6 announcement, PTI said. The RBI had also reduced the cash reserve ratio (CRR) by 100 basis points to 3% of net demand and time liabilities (NDTL), with the cut to be implemented in a staggered manner through the latter half of the year. Live Events According to the article, the CRR reduction is expected to inject around ₹2.5 lakh crore of primary liquidity into the banking system by December 2025. "Besides providing durable liquidity, it will reduce the cost of funds for banks, thereby facilitating monetary policy transmission to the credit market," the authors wrote. The article clarified that the views expressed were those of the authors and not the official stance of the RBI. The article said that the 50-bps policy repo rate cuts between February and April had already reflected in banks' lending benchmarks, including external benchmark-based lending rates (EBLRs) and marginal cost of funds-based lending rates (MCLR). As a result, the weighted average lending rate (WALR) on fresh rupee loans fell by 6 basis points, while the WALR on outstanding rupee loans dropped by 17 basis points between February and April. On the deposit side, the weighted average domestic term deposit rates (WADTDRs) on fresh deposits fell by 27 basis points, while those on outstanding deposits saw a marginal decline of 1 basis point during the same period. The article further said that public sector banks (PSBs) had cut their WALR on fresh rupee loans by a slightly higher margin compared to private banks (PVBs). However, in the case of outstanding loans, the fall in WALR was greater for PVBs. Similarly, PSBs reduced their fresh term deposit rates more than PVBs did during this easing cycle, the article said.
