Google adds a cool new tool to Gemini that turns your ideas into bedtime stories, comics and more
To create your own personalised storybook:– First, open the Gemini app or go to gemini.google.com.– On the left under Gems, click Storybook. If you don't see Storybook right away, click Explore Gems to view the full list.– Next, enter a description of the story you want—such as 'a rhino named Rumble goes on a treasure hunt'—and Gemini will generate a 10-page digital storybook complete with text, artwork, and audio.– After a short processing time, the storybook appears in a two-column layout: the story on one side and a chat window for edits and feedback on the other.The final storybook will be 10 pages long. Once created, users can share the story online, download it for printing, or listen to it with narration. Additionally, the feature also supports uploaded content. For example, you can submit photos from a family trip, a child's drawing, or a scanned letter and Gemini can build a story around that content.

You can also edit the story using prompts. However you can not directly edit the text in the story book. 'You can easily ask Gemini to refine and regenerate the story. Just continue the conversation with prompts like, "Now, make the story funnier," or "Change the illustration style to watercolor." Gemini will create a new version with all new images based on your feedback,' explains Google.Users can choose from various art styles such as pixel art, comic strip, claymation, crochet, or colouring book. Audio narration is included, with options for higher- or lower-pitched voices to suit different age groups. Google says that this new tool in Gemini can be used for storytelling, explaining real-life situations to children, or teaching concepts through narrative.- Ends

Also, it's unknown how long Camera Coach will take to process what it sees and come up with suggestions, but since Gemini Lvie responds pretty quickly, it won't take an eternity before the feature comes up with ways to improve the picture. For years, Google has been relying on computational photography instead of hardware on its Pixel series to improve captured images, and the Pixel 10 series seems to be no exception. On the vanilla Pixel 10, the company will reportedly finally add a dedicated telephoto shooter, which would help capture far-away subjects and click better portrait shots. As for the Pixel 10 Pro and its larger cousin – the Pixel 10 Pro XL, Google seems to be sticking with the same camera sensors as last year. The Pixel 10 series phones will be unveiled later this month on August 20, so we won't have to wait a long time to see how Camera Coach works on these devices.

Google confirms data breach after cyberattack on Salesforce database: What's leaked
Google has confirmed that one of its Salesforce systems used for storing small and medium business contact data was briefly compromised by a cybercriminal group known as UNC6040, which uses voice phishing or 'vishing', to trick employees into handing over access to sensitive tools. The attackers used a social engineering technique where they impersonated IT support staff during phone calls, convincing employees to authorise malicious software connected to their Salesforce environment. This allowed the group to access and extract basic business contact details, most of which, Google says, were already publicly available, before the breach was detected and stopped. Notably, the group behind the attack, UNC6040, is known for targeting Salesforce platforms by abusing tools like the 'Data Loader' app, a legitimate application that allows bulk data handling. In many cases, the hackers use fake versions of this app with misleading names, such as 'My Ticket Portal,' to avoid detection during the phishing calls. In an evolving trend, the group has shifted from using official Salesforce tools to custom-made Python scripts for data theft, making it harder to trace their activity. They also reportedly use VPNs and the dark web network TOR to hide their identity and location. Another linked group, UNC6240, has followed up on these data thefts with extortion attempts, often contacting company employees by email or phone, demanding bitcoin payments within 72 hours. These messages claim to be from the hacking group 'ShinyHunters,' a name familiar in the cybercrime world. Google's threat intelligence unit believes the extortion group may soon launch a website to publicly leak stolen data, a common pressure tactic among cybercriminals. The broader concern is that these attacks do not exploit flaws in Salesforce itself but rather human error, tricking employees into allowing access through seemingly routine IT support calls. Companies are being urged to tighten access controls, restrict permissions to sensitive tools, limit app installations, and train staff to recognise social engineering scams.

To compare, Facebook-parent Meta has reportedly provided some researchers with contracts worth $300 million. These recent offers from Microsoft didn't exceed what the social media giant offereed but they were higher than the typical pay at DeepMind, particularly for long-time employees. According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, Suleyman, who is also a co-founder of Google's DeepMind, is reportedly recruiting these talents personally and has been pitching recruits on the idea that the new AI division at Microsoft is a more flexible workplace than what DeepMind has become under Google's ownership. Suleyman has promised recruits more freedom and smaller teams, a 'startup vibe' that has reportedly appealed to several targets. Microsoft has already hired at least two dozen executives and other employees from Google in recent months, most of whom came from DeepMind. This includes prominent figures like Adam Sadovsky, a former distinguished engineer, and Amar Subramanya, a former VP of engineering at Google. As per the report, Suleyman has been given autonomy by CEO Satya Nadella to lead Microsoft's AI efforts and attract top talent with competitive offers. His team operates mainly from Mountain View, California, with a presence in London, and functions independently from Microsoft's headquarters in Redmond, Washington. The report also noted that a Microsoft spokesman has claimed that all of its senior leaders 'have equal ability to recruit talent and manage their teams in a way that works successfully for their business and their people alike.' The new Google hires will focus on consumer-facing products like Microsoft's Copilot chatbot, which competes with ChatGPT and Gemini, the report adds. Led by Suleyman, the consumer version of Copilot is separate from the enterprise versions used in Microsoft 365 and GitHub. Recently, Microsoft even announced deeper Copilot integration with the Edge browser to assist with tasks like comparing hotel options using open tabs.
