Police appeal after tobacco worth thousands stolen

Police have appealed for information about the theft of thousands of pounds worth of tobacco from a convenience store.
Devon and Cornwall Police said three men broke into a Costcutter on Charlotte Street in Devonport, Plymouth, between 04:30 GMT and 05:30 on Monday, 20 January.
The force said the men stole tobacco with a value of between £8,000 and £10,000.
Officers are asking anyone who knows of a person selling large quantities of tobacco, or who has CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage in the area, to come forward.

A man has been charged with murder after a 47-year-old woman was found dead in a flat. Police were called to the property on Ashe Place, in Normanton, Derby, at about 11:30 BST on Thursday and arrested a man. On Sunday, Derbyshire Police said Thomas Turner, 63, had been charged with murder. Mr Turner, of no fixed address, was to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court on Monday, the force said. A man has been taken to hospital after he was hurt in an attempted robbery in Leicestershire, police said. The man was found on Wolsey Way, Syston, at 00:32 BST on Sunday and an investigation discovered he was attacked in Meadow Lane, Birstall, some time earlier on Saturday night. The force said it was investigating what had happened to him and appealed for information. The man was still in hospital and was in a stable condition on Sunday, they added.
