Bahrain - The National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) has officially opened its newly revamped data centre, solidifying the bank's digital infrastructure.
NBB is now the first and only bank in Bahrain to have designed, built and operated its own Uptime Institute Tier 3 certified Data Centre, a distinction that signifies adherence to the highest international standards for operational reliability and infrastructure quality.
The inauguration follows an 18-month strategic infrastructure transformation, supported by the Central Bank of Bahrain. This initiative involved modernising legacy systems and completing over eight phased migration activities, demonstrating what NBB called 'best-in-class risk management and execution.'
The seamless transition of the bank's digital ecosystem has resulted in a Tier 3 certified facility, meeting top international standards for security, sustainability, and operational excellence.
Commenting on the milestone, NBB Group chief executive Usman Ahmed said, 'The new data centre represents NBB's continued investment in infrastructure that delivers long-term resilience.' He added that it strengthens the bank's operational backbone while advancing its ESG goals by embedding energy-optimised technology directly into its core infrastructure.
'Delivering a transformation of this scale required synchronised execution from teams working across multiple phases to ensure a smooth transition,' Mr Ahmed said. 'Every aspect of this major project was guided by a commitment to providing a frictionless and stable experience for customers. We are incredibly proud of what the NBB team and its partners have built together.'
NBB stated its continued focus on digital innovation and operational excellence, reinforcing its role in enhancing service delivery standards within Bahrain's banking sector.

UAE: Over 40% of property buyers expect a drop in prices in the coming months

Property buyers are increasingly expecting prices to cool over the next six months, according to a survey released by Property Finder. Around 44 per cent of property buyers expect a price drop, while 30 per cent expect increases, and 26 per cent see prices remaining stable in June 2025. In the previous month of May, buyers were fairly divided, with 37 per cent believing prices would decrease, 34 per cent expecting increases, and 29 per cent anticipating stability. 'This shift suggests a growing perception that recent price surges may be easing, a sign of a more mature, considered view among home seekers and buyers as the market continues to evolve,' the brokerage firm said. The property portal also launched PF Market Pulse, a bi-monthly consumer sentiment survey that captures real-time insights into buyer and seller behaviour and market expectations across the UAE's property landscape. Property prices have rallied over the past four years as a large number of foreign professionals, businessmen, and millionaires flocked to the country due to its safety and security, investment opportunities and job openings. Prices in the UAE, on average, have seen a double-digit increase over the past few years. Most of the property brokerages and consultancies expect prices to have started to stabilise, and drop in some of the communities, after a four-year-plus rally. According to the ValuStrat Price Index (VPI), capital values in Dubai's freehold residential market continued to grow, though at a slower pace compared to 2024. Apartment prices rose by 19.1 per cent year-on-year, while villa prices increased by 28.7 per cent. This marks a slowdown compared to the same period last year, when apartment prices had risen by 23.4 per cent and villa prices by 33.4 per cent. Similarly, rental growth also moderated, with villa rents up 4.8 per cent and apartment rents up 7.2 per cent annually. Moreover, the UAE — especially Dubai — will also see a higher supply of new properties in the next couple of years, which will also put prices under pressure. According to CBRE, residential supply has been growing steadily post-pandemic, averaging 30,000 units per year since 2020. However, it added that the future pipeline has now swelled to unprecedented levels, with around 300,000 units set for delivery by the end of 2029, averaging around 60,000 per year. Importantly, Property Finder said more than seven out of 10 — 72 per cent — home seekers and sellers in the UAE plan to buy within six months, reflecting strong demand for home ownership in the country amidst rising rentals and capital appreciation. Sevgi Gur, chief marketing officer at Property Finder, said the results not only highlight a resilient appetite for home ownership in the UAE but also reflect a more informed, confident buyer that's increasingly responsive to market signals. According to Property Finder, over 13,000 respondents participated in the inaugural survey period of home buyers and sellers who were actively tracking market trends, pricing cycles, and supply shifts.

Talabat rolls out rest stations across Kuwait to provide riders with comfortable work environment

Kuwait: As part of its annual summer campaign for riders, talabat, the leading on-demand online ordering and delivery platform in the MENA region, is bringing back its rest stop initiative, with four strategically located, air-conditioned buses across Kuwait. This initiative aligns with the company's corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy and commitment to providing riders with a safe working environment where their health and wellbeing remains the top priority, especially during summertime. Building on the initiative's success for four consecutive years, talabat continues to extend its welcome this year to all riders across Kuwait. Including those from outside its network, to rest and replenish at any of its bus stop rest areas. These stations are well-equipped with comfortable seating, water, and first-aid essentials, reinforcing talabat's role in promoting inclusivity and accessibility for all. Commenting on the revival of the initiative, Bader Al-Ghanim, Vice President and Managing Director of talabat Kuwait, said: 'Our role in the communities we serve extends beyond delivery. We are invested in the wellbeing of every individual who contributes to keeping our ecosystem running, starting with the riders. These rest stations, launched as part of our summer campaign for the fourth year in a row, reflect our continued efforts to ensure safe and comfortable working conditions for riders all year long.' He added: 'As part of our day to day operation, which is powered by a wide network of riders, logistics partners, and support teams, we remain deeply aware of the unique challenges they face on the ground every day. This understanding drives us to provide meaningful support that responds to the nature of their work, with a strong focus on health, wellbeing and improving the overall work environment.' Although talabat riders are hired through logistics partners, Al-Ghanim confirmed that the talabat remains responsible for ensuring they receive insurance coverage, summer kits, and regular access to road safety workshops and health screenings. He emphasized that riders are core contributors to the reliable, high-quality service that talabat delivers to its customers, and as such, remain a top priority within the company's wellbeing efforts. It's worth noting that the fully equipped rest station initiative rolled out across Kuwait is just one of several efforts talabat has launched during the summer to support rider wellbeing and promote safer, more comfortable working conditions on the road. Through initiatives like these, talabat continues to lead by example, demonstrating how companies can adopt a people-first approach rooted in long-term commitment to those at the heart of the delivery ecosystem.
