Beauty therapist hails Medik8's hyaluronic acid serum ‘unbelievable' for anti-ageing

Daily Mirror2 days ago
If you're looking for skincare to hydrate your skin and get rid of signs of ageing, Medik8's hyaluronic acid serum checks all the boxes, with shoppers hailing it 'worth the money'
When it comes to skincare, there are two things we almost always want from our routine; to leave our skin hydrated, and to help keep the signs of ageing at bay for as long as possible. If that sounds familiar, then Medik8's Hydr8 B5 Intense might be exactly what your skincare routine has been missing.
The hyaluronic acid serum is a super-charged version of the brand's best-selling Hdry8 B5, with added ingredients to give your skin an instant boost of moisture within 24 hours. You can pick up a full size 30ml bottle for £59, or a travel-friendly 8ml size for £20, with shoppers praising it as 'definitely worth the money' in reviews.
The main ingredient in the Hydr8 B5 Intense serum is multi-weight hyaluronic acid, which helps to attract and retain more than 1000 times its own weight in water. It draws moisture from the lower layers into the upper ones, creating a nourished, supple and hydrated glow.
What sets this apart from other hyaluronic acid serums is the addition of other ingredients, including vitamin B5 which helps your skin to retain moisture and regenerate new cells for a plumper look. It's also charged with Natural Moisturising Factors (NMFs) like glycerin, five different amino acids, lactic acid and creatine to maximise hydration.
You'll also find plenty of other antioxidant ingredients which help encourage collagen production and prevent moisture from breaking down in your skin. To get the most out of the Hydr8 B5 Intense serum, Medik8 recommends applying six drops to freshly cleansed skin morning and night – and don't forget your neck and décolletage.
If you're not quite ready to spend £50 on the Medik8 serum, you could also snap up the La Roche-Posay Hyalu B5 Serum with Hyaluronic Acid instead. The serum is £45 for a 30ml bottle, and contains both hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5 to hydrate and plump skin.
Alternatively, The Ordinary's Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 (with Ceramides) is perfect for anyone on a tight budget, with a 30ml bottle priced at just £8.80, whilst a larger 60ml bottle is £15.50. It contains five forms of hyaluronic acid to help visibly plump and smooth skin, with pro-vitamin B5 to lock in moisture and ceramides to boost your skin barrier.
However, Medik8 shoppers seem pretty convinced that the Hydr8 B5 Intense serum is worth splashing out on, with one saying: 'From a beauty therapist of 40 years, this product is unbelievable. So nourishing & anti aging, your skin will glow.'
Another agreed: 'I Couldn't live without this serum! It has become a staple in my routine and the immediate effects are phenomenal. I love how quickly it absorbs into the skin leaving it hydrated, feeling firm, plump and glowy! I've had no dry skin since using this serum and it's one of my favourite medik8 products. Highly recommended and definitely worth the money.'
Whilst a third said: 'Lovely, easy to apply product that has kept my skin calm and hydrated. Feels beautiful on the skin and settles quickly for the rest of the routine to be applied.'
However, the Hydr8 B5 Intense serum wasn't such a big hit with everyone, with one writing:
'I think this is a MID products compare to others from Medik8. I didn't see lots of improvement and I finished all the bottle. I think you can find better hydration serums for less less money.'
With a second chiming in: 'The feel of this serum is lovely but it doesn't seem to do that much for me. I do have quite dry tight skin in the winter so it was quite good for layering but I wouldn't repurchase.'
However others can't get enough. One happy reviewer wrote: 'I have used this for a year or more and can see definite improvement on fine lines. It's light and silky does not linger on the skin so quickly absorbed, would highly recommend.'
Another agreed: 'My skin has become more elastic and smooth, it glows and has a beautiful healthy look.'

Boots' 'magic' £10 No7 serum shoppers say makes under eyes 'look tighter'

Shoppers have dubbed the serum "amazing" and praised the "instant" results on fine lines and under eyes Boots shoppers are heaping praise on an "amazing" serum they say makes under-eyes 'look tighter.' The product is currently on offer as part of the retailer's weekly £10 Tuesday deal, which sees prices dropped on select products for one day only. The No7 Youthful Eye Serum 15ml from Boots is now £10, down from its original price of £19.95. The serum targets "key signs of ageing" and aims to give "younger looking eyes in four weeks." The full Boots product description reads: "The advanced formula with a blend of Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C and soft focus spheres instantly smooths, revitalises, revitalises and brightens to give the skin around the eyes a youthful radiance. In addition, an effective fusion of Vitamin A, Cassava and anti-ageing Peptides work day by day to visibly reduce wrinkles including crows feet, improve skin firmness and reduce the appearance of dark circles and puffiness." Alternatively, shoppers can snap up the BYOMA De-Puff and Brighten Eye Gel 20ML from Space NK for £13, or the L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Filler Eye Serum 20ml from Superdrug for £15.99. Elsewhere, Medik8 has the C-Tetra Eye Lipid Vitamin C Radiance Serum for £24. The No7 serum has racked up rave reviews online, earning an overall rating of 4.4 stars. Among the hundreds of reviews, one person said: "Magic cream. This was a lovely cream that had INSTANT results. It smoothed fine lines out." A second wrote: "Amazing. I've been using this eye serum for many years. It's the only product I've found that keeps the skin around my eyes well hydrated. Wouldn't be without it." A third shopper added: "Like most people, I'm a little bit sceptical when it comes to using new products that claim to make differences to the appearance of your skin. However, with this product I have noticed an improvement in the fine lines around my eyes. My skin certainly seems smoother and fine lines seem less obvious. The skin around my eyes seems brighter and more hydrated. I would definitely recommend this product and I will certainly be stocking up." However, some shoppers mentioned issues they'd found with the product and shared their thoughts. One wrote: "I've been using it twice daily for several weeks now and really do not see any difference, other than it does a good job of moisturising." A different person said: "I have a couple of fine lines under my eyes and this product did nothing for them, however the product is easy to apply, sinks in well unlike others I've tried and didn't cause any allergic reaction to my very sensitive skin and eyes." Despite this, many others continued to praise the serum. One happy shopper said: "Being a first time mom and having less sleeping time made my under eyes so bad. This is by far one of the best eye serums I have tried. It made my under eye skin looks tighter just overnight. It's like a miracle serum. Highly recommended!" Another added: "I use this with the Lift and Illuminate eye cream and it works by keeping my skin smooth and line-free."

Lisa Snowdon-loved 'genuinely impressive' hair loss serum is now on sale

NIOXIN's Anti-Hair Loss Serum Hair Growth Serum works hard to help minimise the risk of breakage Stress, hormonal fluctuations, postnatal recovery, dietary habits, or even wearing tight hairstyles can all lead to hair thinning and loss, irrespective of one's age. While half of women will encounter this at some point in their lives, losing between 50 and 100 strands of hair daily is deemed normal. However, for those experiencing more pronounced hair loss, characterised by an increase in hair left on the brush, a widening parting, or bald patches, it can often lead to a decline in self-esteem. NIOXIN, a brand that has received considerable acclaim for its anti-hair loss products, is endorsed by model and Celebrity Masterchef star Lisa Snowdon, who has openly shared her own experiences with hair loss. In honour of Hair Loss Awareness month, the brand is currently running a promotion on Lookfantastic, which reduces its Anti-Hair Loss Serum Hair Growth Serum for Thinning Hair to £46 from £57.50. Save 75% on beauty box filled with Medik8 and Color Wow products - now £15 but worth £60 Shoppers ditch shower gel for Scottish brand that smells 'like expensive spa' The NIOXIN Anti-Hair Loss Serum Hair Growth Serum is a leave-in serum formulated to minimise the risk of breakage and hair fall. According to Lookfantastic, beauty aficionados who have tried this product have witnessed 'astonishing' results in as little as eight weeks, with 93% of participants in a clinical study experiencing improved hair anchorage. The serum, recommended for use alongside the brand's shampoo and conditioner, is loaded with hair follicle-stimulating caffeine, lauric acid, and niacinamide. The concoction aims to nourish and safeguard the scalp, thereby fostering ideal conditions for healthy hair growth, reports Chronicle Live. Promising denser, more robust hair from the first use, the serum necessitates 15 pumps massaged into the scalp (on either dry or wet hair) and should not be rinsed out. This NIOXIN product rivals the likes of brands such as UKLASH and Skin + Me, whose hair regrowth products have received rave reviews from beauty buffs and celebrities alike. UKLASH's Hair Growth Serum costs a little less at £40 for a one-time purchase and uses active ingredients like AnaGain™ (Pea Sprout Extract), Phytic Acid, and Turmeric to 'revitalise and stimulate hair growth' at the scalp. Skin + Me's The Drops for hair growth are an even more affordable option, currently on sale for £14.99 down from £34.99. With major results reported in three to six months with consistent use, the Skin + Me formula claims to 'reverse loss', 'stop thinning' and 'restore density' with its scientifically proven active ingredients. The NIOXIN serum, endorsed by Lisa Snowdon as a 'game changer' for thinning hair, has been met with stellar feedback from customers. A top-rated review on Lookfantastic's site enthuses: "I've been using Nioxin Anti-Hair Loss Serum for a few weeks, and I'm pretty impressed. The serum is easy to apply. Just pump once on your palm and spread. It doesn't feel greasy or heavy on my scalp. "I've noticed a slight improvement in the thickness of my hair, I have little baldness on my side head, and it seems to be growing back in that area where it was thinning. It doesn't have a strong smell, which I like. "While it's still early to tell if it'll completely stop hair loss, I've seen some positive changes, and I feel more confident about my hair's health. Worth trying it." Another satisfied customer shared their experience, saying: "I have been using the Nioxin Anti-Hair Loss Serum Growth Serum for thinning hair for a few months now, and I am genuinely impressed with the results. Initially, I was sceptical about trying another product for hair thinning, but this serum has exceeded my expectations." They continued: "Over time, my hair has begun to feel thicker, and I'm even noticing some regrowth in areas that were visibly thinning. I also appreciate that the serum has a pleasant, subtle scent, unlike many other treatments I've tried. "It's now a staple in my hair care routine, and I highly recommend it to anyone dealing with thinning hair or looking to improve their scalp health. Nioxin has truly delivered with this product, and I feel much more confident about my hair than I have in years. "I've been using this for about eight months now, and the amount of hair that I shed now in comparison to before is crazy," said another. "It does help with my excess shedding, and also my hairline is looking a bit fuller in the patches that were thinning. I think consistency is key with this." A different buyer emphasised how they noticed changes within just seven days, noting: "The best hair growth serum for hair! I could see results after weeks of using it. You have to be consistent with the product, but it's working well. Great value. Highly recommend". Whilst countless shoppers enjoyed favourable results, some have struggled with progress, with one person explaining: "Have used it a few times, not seen any difference yet, will persevere for longer, isn't making my hair any worse so will just keep going for a while yet." A separate reviewer commented on the NIOXIN treatment: "Very great product! Since I began using this system, my hair loss has slowed down considerably. When using the shampoo with the conditioner and the serum, it has certainly contributed to the health and thickness of my hair."

Medik8's SPF50 that's an ‘absolute gem of a find' for heatwave week is 20% off

If you're looking for a new sunscreen to protect against the heatwave, LookFantastic has slashed 20% off Medik8's 'absolute gem' SPF50 For a while, it was looking like the summer had officially ended earlier, but now that another heatwave is back in full swing, this week is the perfect chance to stock up on some trusty SPF. Although we should wear sunscreen on our faces every day (rain or shine), we know not everyone does. However, SPF 50 in 30-degree weather is non-negotiable, and we've spotted Medik8's Advanced Day Ultimate Protect SPF50+ with 20% off at LookFantastic. This clever day cream comes with an impressive SPF50+ PA++++, and it's also packed with advanced UV filters to shield against UVA and UVB rays, plus blue light, infrared light, and pollution. Alongside sun protection, it features encapsulated photolyase to help minimise visible signs of ageing caused by the sun. Plus hyaluronic acid and squalane keep your skin plump and hydrated all day long. 94% of people agreed it left their skin feeling moisturised from morning to night. It's also got the glowing shopper reviews to back it up, with many praising its moisturising qualites and lack of white case. One shopper wrote: "I use this daily every morning. Feel it's a good solution to putting on some sunscreen as well as giving my skin a good base for adding makeup or just going bare face & letting my skin breathe. Would recommend highly". "This is an absolute gem of a find and well worth the price. A tube lasts a long time and I can use it all year round, under my Medik8 serum. My adult daughter tells me my skin glows now and I'd agree! I'd highly recommend this product". This SPF is definitely better catered to those with drier skin, as one shopper criticised: "Good sunscreen, nice ingredients It's however too oily for me. Not sure if I would repurchase." If you're looking for more beauty boxes and bundles to shop this summer, Boots has dropped a limited-edition SPF kit featuring four of Supergoop's bestselling sun protection products (*including two full sizes) for £44 despite being worth £92.25. That brings each product down to just £11, a significant discount when you consider one full-size tube of Unseen Sunscreen usually costs up to £34 alone.
