GLASTONBURY revellers braved the rain in ponchos and carried umbrellas as they trudged through muddy fields.
Partygoers refused to let the rain dampen their spirits as thousands descended for this year's festival.

Thousands arrived to set up camp for the first day of Glastonbury yesterday.
The festival opened at 10pm yesterday with a theatre and circus act set in the Pyramid Arena.
It showcased acrobatic and circus performances, as well as a fireworks display.
But there is some good news for revellers later this week.
Temperatures are set to soar by the weekend, with highs of 30C.
While the festival is best known for its music, revellers can enjoy the range of stalls, set up their tents and explore the grounds in the meantime before the main performances kick off on Friday.
The weather on Thursday should improve as the rest of the festival is set to be mostly dry and mild, with temperatures in the low 20s.
Met Office forecaster Paul Gundersen said: "Elsewhere through Thursday, rain will move eastwards across the UK, clearing to showers, with some sunny spells breaking through at times."
The Met Office website has forecast highs of 22C around 2pm, before dipping into the high teens in the evening.
As the music festival kicks off, attendees can soak up the warmer temperatures as it reaches 24C by 4pm on Friday.
When opening headliner The 1975 take to the stage at 10pm, temperatures still remain mild at 18C.
Gundersen added: "Friday will start dry in the east, with rain moving in from the west, becoming showery later."

Another heatwave will hit London this weekend – with temperatures soaring to 35C
Oh, you thought London was hot last weekend? Well, gird your loins – it's about to turn even hotter. After a few days of relief, the Met Office has forecast that London will heat up once again over the next few days, reaching 29C on Saturday, 31C on Sunday and rising to an absolutely blistering temperature of 35C on Monday, June 30. It'll be the hottest start to the Wimbledon Tennis Championships in its 147 year history. According to the forecast, Monday's peak heat of 35C won't hit until around 4pm and it'll stay that hot until around 7-8pm, so you'll have plenty of time to bask in the blazing sun after work. But that also means that Londoners are also in for a sweaty night of sleep. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued amber heat health alert for the capital in anticipation of the boiling temperatures. It kicks in at 12pm on Friday, June 27 and lasts until Tuesday, July 1. In its outlook for Sunday to Tuesday, the Met Office describes the weather as: 'Staying largely dry with good spells of sunshine into next week. Turning increasingly very warm or hot, and humid. Some warm nights to come too. Light winds.' Things are set to cool down on Wednesday and Thursday, with a nice and bearable high of 25C predicted for the city. Looking a little further ahead, BBC weather predicts that there could be some thunderstorms later next week. It says: 'Whilst some rain or showers are possible across the south and east, longer drier spells are more likely, under the influence of higher pressure. There is also the chance of some occasional very warm, perhaps locally hot weather, as brief bursts of hotter air encroach from the continent, but probably fairly short-lived and perhaps also accompanied by a few thunderstorms at times.'
