Pennsylvania Senators look to protect worker gender identity, expression in workplace

PENNSYLVANIA (WTAJ) — Two Pennsylvania Senators announced legislation that aims to prohibit discrimination based on an individual's sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.
Senators Steven Santarsiero (D-Bucks) and Nikil Saval (D-Philadelphia) argued in their new bill that in Pennsylvania, no one should be fired from a job, or denied housing or excluded from public spaces because of who they are. Their bill is a reintroduction of Senate Bill 150, which was co-sponsored by over 10 Senators.
In Pennsylvania, the Human Relations Act prohibits discrimination in the areas of employment, housing and public accommodations based on an individual's race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, sex, education status, handicap or disability. However, the act does not cover sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.
'Pennsylvania should be seen as a place that welcomes any individual who wants to work hard, succeed, and contribute to our economy without the fear of being fired, refused services or denied something as basic as a place to live because of who they are,' The legislation reads. 'Surveys repeatedly show that over 70% of Pennsylvanians agree.'
The Senators argued that while there has been an increase in the number of Pennsylvania municipalities that have passed non-discrimination ordinances, without a statewide law, there are individuals across the Commonwealth who risk not being protected. The legislation noted that other states have already passed similar bills safeguarding an individual's sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.

Former Commanders Star Gives Shocking Take on NFC East Wideouts

Former Commanders Star Gives Shocking Take on NFC East Wideouts originally appeared on Athlon Sports. When the Washington Commanders traded for All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel, the team hoped they finally had a receiving group that could compete pound for pound with the Philadelphia Eagles and their elite duo of AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith. Advertisement Not everyone is as high on the Samuel acquisition as the Commanders are, however. On the latest episode of the Up and Adams podcast, former Commanders and Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson spoke out in his belief that while the Commanders did bolster their receiving room, they didn't supplant another team in their decision. 'Obviously, Deebo - I think he's a good (addition) over there. Jayden Daniels had a heck of a year as well too. Dak (Prescott) … you know Dak, he's a regular-season hero. I just don't know how it's going to transition into the playoffs,' Jackson said. 'But as far as regular season, I think the Cowboys will have better production from CeeDee (Lamb) and George Pickens if we're just talking about receivers.' Jackson's comments about the Cowboys receiving room might be shocking to some. Dallas added George Pickens to the room in an offseason trade with the Steelers. Pickens is set to join a unit with an All-Pro in Lamb. Advertisement One argument: Is Samuel is a better player than Pickens at this time in their careers? The other, and we can settle this: As good as Terry McLaurin is, he isn't better than Lamb. And that's the demarcation point that the NFC East legend Jackson is speaking of here. In at least this one area, the Cowboys may have moved themselves up and over Washington. Kevin Durant Trade Report Emerges After Giannis Antetokounmpo News

Kevin Durant Trade Report Emerges After Giannis Antetokounmpo News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. This NBA offseason could feature some of its very best players getting moved. That includes Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant. Earlier in May, The New York Post's Brian Lewis reported the Brooklyn Nets are gearing up to trade for Antetokounmpo should he become available. Advertisement "Giannis Antetokounmpo has long been viewed as the Nets' prime target. And for the first time, he might actually be in sight," Lewis wrote. "The Post has long reported that Brooklyn has been amassing draft capital and assets with acquiring Antetokounmpo as their proverbial white whale, but the Bucks had never shown any inclination to move him nor he any indication of being willing to move. That is reportedly changing. " Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo (34)Kevin Jairaj-Imagn Images For now, nothing is concrete regarding whether the Milwaukee Bucks star will request a trade. That said, NBA Insider Marc Stein revealed an update on Saturday that directly impacts Durant. On his latest edition of The Stein Line, Stein revealed Durant's future could be held up by Antetokounmpo's situation. "The expectation persists that Durant will ultimately reach the trade market this offseason, but it might not happen until there is clarity on whether Giannis Antetokounmpo will be staying in Milwaukee or seeking a trade of his own," Stein wrote. An Antetokounmpo trade could determine Durant's value on the open market, and it would also presumably eliminate a Durant suitor since no team will have the assets or financial flexibility to add both players. The Bucks have suffered through three consecutive first-round exits and have limited ways to improve their current roster.
