Delhi likely to witness rain, thunderstorms on Sunday, says IMD
The city recorded a maximum temperature of 34.5 degrees Celsius on Saturday, 0.9 notch below the season's average, according to the IMD. The minimum temperature hovered around 25.2 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal.
The relative humidity was recorded at 83 per cent at 5.30 pm.
Delhi's air quality was recorded in the "satisfactory" category at 6 pm, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 56, Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data showed.
According to the CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'.

(Pic credit: AP) Helsinki: Finland has broken an over 50-year-old weather record as the country is witnessing the longest period of temperatures above 30C, the Finnish Meteorological Institute said on Friday. As Parikkala in eastern Finland hit 30.3 Celsius before midday, this meant that temperatures have now soared to 30C in parts of the country 14 days in a row, breaking previous record of 13 consecutive days from June and July 1972. "This is the longest period of consecutive days with temperatures exceeding 30C since records began in 1961," the institute wrote on X. The Nordic country is in the midst of a period of warm weather that the institute has described as "exceptionally long" in places. Meteorologist Ville Siiskonen at the Meteorological Institute said: "Periods of warm weather will be longer and there can be more of them."

Humid spell on as rain plays truant, showers likely for 3 days in Gurgaon
Gurgaon: The city experienced another sultry day as rain remained elusive on Friday, accompanied by a sharp rise in temperature. The day remained muggy with a minimum temperature recorded at 29 degrees Celsius, a 3.6 degree rise from Thursday's 27.6°C. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature settled at 35.2°C, a slight drop from 36.4°C recorded the day before. According to IMD, apart from isolated showers in some places, including Karnal and Faridabad, no significant rainfall was reported in the state. However, weather officials said this dry spell is likely to be short-lived. "While the conditions are warm and humid, a fresh spell of rainfall is expected from Sunday. The intensity of rain is likely to peak on Monday and Tuesday," an IMD official said. The showers are expected to bring some relief from the prevailing discomfort, with both day and night temperatures likely to drop once the spell begins. Several areas in the city witnessed only light or scattered showers, with longer dry intervals in between. According to IMD, a western disturbance with a cyclonic circulation lies over Jammu & Kashmir and the neighbourhood. "Under this influence, light to moderate rainfall is likely over parts of the state from July 27, with isolated showers at some places. With the current dry spell, daytime temperature may see a marginal rise," the IMD official said.
