Both schools were directed to provide written clarification within two days, explaining why they should not face a Rs 10,000 penalty for breaching govt guidelines.
Educational institutions are prohibited from selling books or stationery on school premises. Although a directive exists, numerous schools persisted with these activities. The DEO initiated strict implementation of the rule and issued notifications accordingly.
So far, five schools in Ahmedabad received notices for violating this rule in the past three days. Nelson School in Maninagar and United Valley International School in Vastral were the first to get DEO notices for compelling parents to purchase school books, stationery, and uniforms from their premises. This was followed by Suffah School in Kalupur. Subsequently, Swaminarayan Techno and Jay Somnath Schools were also issued notices.
DEO Rohit Chaudhary confirmed that institutions failing to comply with guidelines regarding book sales, uniforms, and fee collection would face appropriate consequences.
