Chatra SDO announces plan to upgrade Sadar hosp

Chatra: District administration is working out a plan to overhaul the functioning of Sadar hospital in Chatra, which recently came under fire from the state health minister for several lapses.
People have accused middlemen at the hospital resulting into incidents of fleecing.
While conducting inspection of the hospital premises on Tuesday night, health minister Irfan Ansari had to cover his nose due to bad smell at the campus. He was also visibly miffed when he learnt that the hospital always refers patients to other centres.
Talking to TOI on Thursday, Chatra sub-divisional officer Jahur Alam admitted several flaws at the hospital.
He said, "The district administration is committed to improve the condition."
"I, along with Simaria sub-divisional officer Sunny Raj, are assessing the situation to make positive changes in the coming days. Our focus is on cleanliness as well as boosting the morale of the employees and doctors. So far, through our visits, we came to know about the manpower crunch, from doctors to paramedical staff. We don't have the power to recruit, but what I know is that we have to motivate the existing team to give their best in this situation," he said.
Alam said that their focus is to bring the system of the hospital on track. "We are trying to ensure that all kinds of pathological tests are done here, there should be a dress code for paramedical staff, and the duty roster should be followed," he added.

Admission process starts at Maharashtra's first yoga and naturopathy college
Kolhapur: Commencement of admission for the first year of the Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences (BNYS) programme started at Maharashtra's first govt Yoga and Naturopathy College and Hospital at Uttur in Ajara tehsil of Kolhapur district, with its inauguration on Friday. A well-equipped library, a naturopathy therapy centre, an auditorium, a treatment centre, a diet centre, a swimming pool, hostels for 200 boys and 200 girls, a diagnostic centre, a multipurpose hall, a yoga hall, and a yoga-based walking track will be SET UP on the campus. Speaking about the ongoing developments related to CPR Hospital Kolhapur, Mushrif said, "The hospital is being transformed on the lines of Mumbai's Jaslok Hospital for the convenience of patients. The renovation work at CPR is expected to be completed by Diwali, ensuring that no needy patient in the district will need to travel to Mumbai or Pune for medical treatment." Prayagraj: With the rise of dangerous and sensational content on social media platforms, the experts caution parents to be extra vigilant about what their children watch online. Imitation of risky stunts and 'tricks' can lead to serious, even life-threatening, consequences as was recently witnessed in a village of Kunda tehsil in Pratapgarh, where an 11-year-old boy fell unconscious after a teenager tried to mimic a YouTube stunt. The incident occurred during a wedding gathering when children were playing inside a house. A teenager, in a bid to impress his friends, pressed the carotid arteries, the major blood vessels supplying blood to the brain, on the neck of a 11-year-old boy. Within seconds, the boy collapsed. Initially assumed to be fainting, the situation turned critical when the boy failed to regain consciousness. Alarmed by his deteriorating condition, his family rushed him to a neurosurgeon in Prayagraj. Dr Prakash Khaitan, who treated the boy , said, "The boy was brought to hospital last week unconscious and having seizures. "After five days of treatment, the child has now started walking.." The boy's father recalled the harrowing moment. "When we went inside the room, my son was unconscious and was having seizures. He was not able to drink water or stand on his legs." Psychiatrist Dr Rakesh Paswan of Colvin Hospital added that a growing number of children are being exposed to violent and hazardous online games. He urged parents to supervise mobile usage closely until children are at least 18 years old and to encourage outdoor activities. IMA writes to Tata Group, seeks equal compensation for med students affected by crash
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat state branch of the Indian Medical Association (GSB-IMA) has written to N. Chandrasekaran, chairman of Tata Sons, on Friday, demanding compensation for medical students affected by the Air India flight 171 crash, similar to that announced for passengers. In its letter, the GSB-IMA appreciated Air India's gesture of offering Rs 1 crore compensation to the families of passengers who died in the tragedy and funding the renovation of the BJMC college hostel. "We humbly request you to also consider extending financial assistance and necessary support to the medical students present at the crash site who were injured or lost their lives in this unfortunate event," the letter states. Signed by Dr Mehul Shah, president of GSB-IMA and other office-bearers, it further adds, "These individuals were not only victims but also future pillars of our healthcare system, and their well-being and families deserve similar care and support.
