Two La Liga clubs come forward for Liverpool star

Liverpool look set to sanction several departures before the end of the summer transfer window. We could see Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez go - as well as Harvey Elliott, Tyler Morton, Ben Doak and Federico Chiesa. While the club would prefer to hold on to Ibrahima Konate, they may be forced into a sale if he doesn't sign a new contract. The club also have the option of conducting some outbound loan moves. Among this contingent are potentially Owen Beck, James McConnell and Jayden Danns. Interest has been expressed from within the Premier League and Championship for those players - and one more Liverpool midfielder is firmly on the radar in Spain. Valencia and Celta come forward for Bajcetic Stefan Bajcetic, 20, was loaned out twice last season - first to RB Leipzig and then to Las Palmas. Although the Spain under-21 international couldn't help the Canary Island side stave off relegation, he did enough to merit interest from several LaLiga clubs. One of which is Valencia, as documented in a report from GOL Digital. They would like Bajcetic on loan but the possibility of a permanent deal further down the line hasn't been ruled out. And the same publication suggests Celta Vigo are STRONGLY interested in bringing Bajcetic back to Galicia. Bajcetic 'set to join' Celta 'Bajcetic is reportedly set to join Celta Vigo on loan, in a move authorized by the Reds,' a report reads on GOL Digital. 'Since the Galician midfielder arrived at Anfield, he has been loaned out twice. The first was last summer, when he signed with RB Salzburg. 'He then signed with the Canary Islands side in the winter transfer window. 'Thus, the 20-year-old center is preparing for his third loan spell, this time at Balaídos.' © IMAGO - Stefan Bajcetic Liverpool

Jonathan Milan earns second stage win at Tour de France, as Tadej Pogačar maintains lead

VALENCE, France — Sprint specialist Jonathan Milan pounced at the finish to win the 17th stage of the Tour de France after a crash in the last kilometer derailed rivals' hopes on Wednesday. Italian rider Milan, the green jersey holder, consolidated his lead in the points classification with an explosive finish to get his wheel just over the line ahead of Jordi Meeus, Tobias Lund Andresen, Arnaud De Lie, Davide Ballerini and others in a rain-soaked sprint finale. It's Milan's second stage win of the Tour after his victory in similar fashion in Laval on Saturday. But it was arguably more dramatic with rival sprinter Tim Merlier and others involved in a crash under the 'flamme rouge' — the triangular red banner over the road signaling the final kilometer. 'The last 25 kilometers were really, really, fast,' said Merlier, who finished 25th, more than a minute behind. 'I think I did a mistake. I took one roundabout on the wrong side and I lost a lot of positions. And then I knew I needed to move up. The moment I wanted to move up, I crashed.' There was no significant change in the overall standings with three-time Tour champion Tadej Pogačar maintaining his lead of 4 minutes, 15 seconds over main rival Jonas Vingegaard.

Barcelona confirm Marcus Rashford signing on season-long loan transfer

Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford on a season-long loan deal. The Athletic reported on Saturday that Barcelona had made an offer via intermediaries to loan Rashford for the upcoming season, with the proposal include an option to buy the forward permanently. The proposed transfer will see Barcelona covering the forward's full salary for the duration of the temporary switch. Advertisement Rashford travelled to Barcelona on Sunday after an agreement was reached between the two clubs. United gave the England international permission to fly to the Catalan capital to start the next chapter of his career while Barca head coach Hansi Flick spoke to the England international and approved his arrival. 📞 "Yeah… It's official."Rashford follows in Lineker's footsteps. — FC Barcelona (@FCBarcelona) July 23, 2025 Barcelona have been looking for an attacker who can operate in wide areas and up front, with left-wing considered a priority for the club after they felt they were short of options in that position towards the end of last season. Taking the forward on an initial temporary basis would also help Barcelona as they continue to navigate a difficult financial situation. Rashford spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, scoring four times in 17 appearances, but his spell in Birmingham was curtailed by a hamstring injury picked up in April. He missed the final four games of the campaign for Unai Emery's side, and was left out of Thomas Tuchel's most recent England squad for the fixtures against Andorra and Senegal. Rashford has been one of United's top earners at more than £325,000 per week, of which Villa covered three-quarters — in addition to performance-related bonuses — for the duration of his loan deal. The Athletic reported in January that the 27-year-old favoured a move to Barcelona, with sporting director Deco keeping close tabs on the forward. The Athletic reported on June 3 that Rashford's brother and agent, Dwaine Maynard, had been in the Catalan city for talks. Flick said earlier this summer he hoped to add wide forwards to his squad, with Lamine Yamal and Raphinha currently first-choice in the positions in Barca's 4-3-3 system. Advertisement The club agreed personal terms with Nico Williams before the Spain international opted instead to stay at Athletic Club and sign a new contract until 2035 while Liverpool knocked back an approach for Luis Diaz last month and insist the 28-year-old, who is also of interest to Bayern Munich, is not for sale. Rashford has not featured for United since the Europa League fixture against Viktoria Plzen on December 12, having first been left out of the squad by Ruben Amorim for the Premier League match against Manchester City on December 15. In an interview later in December, Rashford said he was 'ready for a new challenge' away from United. United have never publicly closed the door to Rashford being reintegrated, although he was one of five players given extra time to explore a move away by the club. Despite that, Rashford reported back to Carrington on July 8 and worked on an individual basis, not taking part in team training with the rest of Ruben Amorim's squad The United academy product has made 426 appearances for the club and scored 138 goals since his debut in 2015.
