Raiders DE Maxx Crosby Has Strong Message on Shedeur Sanders originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Shedeur Sanders is going to continue to be a popular news topic for the foreseeable future, even after falling to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He's a talented quarterback who likely should've been drafted higher, but dramatically fell for myriad reasons.

It may never be clear why exactly NFL teams didn't want Sanders, but there's been a lot of speculation that he has a poor attitude, and his status as a big star could lead to some distractions.
Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby has known Sanders since he was a kid, and he defended the young quarterback while stating that the concerns about him are misplaced.

'͏I think he's handled it the ͏right way,' Crosby said of Sanders on the "Glory Daze with Johnny Manziel" podcast. 'People have their certain opinions, you're Dei͏on͏ Sander͏s͏' son, he's got ͏a͏ big ͏personality, bigger than life, he's got his jewelry, he's ͏got this, and ͏you know ͏people just automatically put him ͏in a ͏box that he's a͏ distraction, not ͏a good ͏kid͏,͏ things like ͏that ͏and I͏ ͏think that's unfair.'

Sanders has shown some immaturity with how he's spoken about opposing players or players who transferred from Colorado while he was there, but he's never gotten into serious legal trouble, and most of his teammates have spoken highly of him.
He hasn't created any major negative headlines since joining the Cleveland Browns, but time will tell if he truly deserved to fall to the fifth round of the draft.

Raiders Predicted to Cut Ties With Fan Favorite RB Before Season
Raiders Predicted to Cut Ties With Fan Favorite RB Before Season originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Las Vegas Raiders' running back room is going to look quite different this season. First-round pick Ashton Jeanty will almost certainly be the starter, and veteran free agent signing Raheem Mostert is the likely backup. Advertisement That's going to leave several talented players left to fight for either one or two roster spots. One player who is going to have an uphill battle is 2024 sixth-round pick Dylan Laube. He was impressive in training camp last offseason, which led to him becoming a quick fan favorite. However, he fumbled on his first career carry, and the Raiders didn't give him another one for the rest of the season. Las Vegas Raiders RB Dylan Ward-Imagn Images Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal put together a 53-man roster prediction ahead of training camp, and he projects that Laube will miss the cut. "It was obvious during the Raiders offseason program that Jeanty, the sixth overall pick in this year's draft, is not a typical running back," Bonsignore wrote. "His combination of power, balance, grace and burst is exceptional. The only question is how high his ceiling is and how quickly he can reach it. There will be competition for snaps behind him, as Mostert and McCormick have been productive when given opportunities in the NFL. White also reported to OTAs and minicamp in great shape after a disappointing season. Laube, a 2024 sixth-round pick, is likely on the roster bubble and may need to shine on special teams to earn a spot." Advertisement Laube would be a great candidate to make the practice squad, but it's difficult to see a scenario where he makes the 53-man roster to start the season. $132 Million WR Was Trying to Get to Raiders This Offseason, Says Former Player
$132 Million WR Was Trying to Get to Raiders This Offseason, Says Former Player originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Las Vegas Raiders had a very busy offseason, but new general manager John Spytek has shown a lot of discipline early on. Instead of spending a ton of money on big-name free agents or trading for disgruntled star skill position players, he's exercised a more patient approach. Advertisement However, the Raiders did have a big need at wide receiver this offseason, and DK Metcalf was an obvious fit due to his previous ties with head coach Pete Carroll. The team already made one trade with the Seattle Seahawks by dealing for Geno Smith, so another transaction wouldn't have been out of the question. Pittsburgh Steelers WR DK Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images Plus, it sounds like Metcalf really wanted to go to Las Vegas. Carroll was a guest on Da Get Got Pod With Marshawn Lynch & Mike Robinson. The topic of Smith coming to the Raiders came up, which led Lynch to talk about how Carroll wanted to bring a lot of former Seahawks to Las Vegas. "I know, remember DK (Metcalf) wanted to go there," Robinson chimed in. Advertisement They quickly moved on from that talking point, but it was a very interesting note for Robinson to drop. He was a former Seahawks player, and Lynch played with Metcalf briefly, so it stands to reason that they'd have some insight into his thought process. It's not entirely clear why the Raiders wouldn't have wanted to trade for the star wide receiver. He did end up costing the Steelers $132 million once he got traded, so perhaps the team just didn't want to pay him that kind of money after a trade. Stephen A Smith Offers Bold Pacers-Thunder Finals Game 7 Forecast
Stephen A Smith Offers Bold Pacers-Thunder Finals Game 7 Forecast originally appeared on Athlon Sports. ESPN/ABC pundit Stephen A. Smith, one of the great modern hot take artists, has made controversial headlines throughout these ongoing 2025 NBA Finals. Advertisement Smith has been called out for playing "Solitaire" on his phone during active play, and he and fellow basketball analyst Kendrick Perkins were at one point derided by two courtside fans wearing cutouts of their faces atop the ugly prom tuxedos from "Dumb And Dumber." But the action on the hardwood has been great, with or without those distractions. Although the Finals' ratings are down, these have been some of the most surprisingly thrilling games in one of the most competitive series in years. Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton drives with the ball against Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander during Game 6 of the 2025 NBA Finals at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on June 19, Ruszkowski-Imagn Images Accordingly, the series between the heavily-favored Oklahoma City Thunder and the upstart Indiana Pacers is knotted up at 3-3, following a stunning 108-91 Indiana blowout victory in Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Thursday. Advertisement The Finals now shifts back to Oklahoma City, and will be determined in a Game 7 on Sunday. On "First Take" Friday morning, Smith offered up a bold prediction for the final matchup in what is shaping up to be an all-time classic series between young squads on the rise. "I think Game 7 is going to be a thriller. I don't think it's going to be a blowout. I think it's going to be tight," Smith said. "There are times when they [Oklahoma City] just lag offensively, they can't seem to get anything going, but they know how to neutralize you defensively," Smith said. "I think it's going to be close in the fourth quarter. I'm not saying that OKC's not going to pull away because I still believe in them." Advertisement Related: Stephen A.
