FWICE slams ‘Border 2' makers for casting Diljit Dosanjh, against their official boycott order

FWICE slams ‘Border 2' makers for casting Diljit Dosanjh, against their official boycott order

Time of India5 hours ago

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has strongly opposed actor-singer
Diljit Dosanjh
being cast in the upcoming film 'Border 2' and Imtiaz Ali's untitled project. They claim that casting him goes against their official boycott order.
In the strongly worded letters dated June 24 and 25, FWICE wrote to T-Series Chairman
Bhushan Kumar
, director Imtiaz Ali, and actor-producer
Sunny Deol
. They urged them to rethink working with Diljit Dosanjh. The federation raised concerns about Dosanjh's collaboration with Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in 'Sardaar Ji 3', calling it a clear violation of national sentiment and unity within the film industry.
In its letter to Bhushan Kumar, FWICE shared its 'deep disappointment' over casting Dosanjh in 'Border 2'.
'Such casting decisions are a disservice to the sacrifices made by our armed forces,' the letter read, adding that the collaboration "directly undermines the stand taken by the Indian film industry in solidarity with the nation."
FWICE reiterates ban on Pakistani collaborations
FWICE reminded the production house of its 2019 directive that bans any collaboration with Pakistani artists, a rule introduced after the
Pulwama
terror attack. The federation emphasized that this ban is still in place, especially in light of the recent
Pahalgam terror attack
, which tragically took the lives of several civilians, including children.
In a separate letter to director Imtiaz Ali, FWICE acknowledged his valuable contributions to Indian cinema but urged him to reconsider his reported plans to cast Diljit Dosanjh in an upcoming film scheduled for release in April 2026. 'Collaborating with someone who openly disregards national sentiment by engaging with banned Pakistani artists is deeply disappointing,' penned on the letter.
FWICE Appeals to Sunny Deol, Citing His Patriotic Legacy
In its letter to actor Sunny Deol, who is closely associated with Border 2, FWICE requested his intervention in the matter.
Referring to his strong image built through patriotic films like 'Border' and 'Gadar', 'We are confident that the values you have always upheld, both on screen and off, will guide you to take a stand in line with the nation's sentiments,' the letter stated.
Urges Industry to Take Action
The controversy started after Diljit Dosanjh cast Pakistani actor Hania Aamir—who has made anti-India comments online—in 'Sardaar Ji 3'.
FWICE called this a serious insult to national feelings and said it shows a lack of respect for the country.
The federation made it clear that its boycott of Dosanjh is still active. It warned that anyone working with him would be going against the unity of the film industry and the nation. FWICE ended its letters by asking everyone involved to act responsibly and take the right steps.
As of now, Diljit Dosanjh and the filmmakers have not responded to these objections.

PewDiePie No Longer Top 10 Most-Subscribed YouTube Channels, These Three Indians Are Ahead

Last Updated: PewDiePie aka Felix Kjellberg, reigned YouTube for more than half a decade. In 2025, the Swedish gamer and vlogger is no longer in the top 10 most-subscribed YouTube channels. Barrels! Felix Kjellberg, popularly known as PewDiePie, is no longer in the top 10 most-subscribed YouTube channels in the world. The 35-year-old content creator, who started his YouTube journey on April 29, 2010, quickly rose to fame thanks to his videos of him playing Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Happy Wheels, Flappy Bird, and Pokémon GO. His exaggerated reactions, over-the-top screams, and unscripted commentary made him stand out from the rest. His Swedish accent, charming on-screen presence, and consistent uploads quickly saw his channel rise to the most subscribed channel in the world. His vlogs and Q&A videos helped me build a Bro Army and loyal community. He stayed on top for over five and a half years across four separate runs in the past 15 years or so. However, his 'beef" with the music label, T-Series, based in India, was what put him in unprecedented global limelight. PewDiePie Vs T-Series The one-sided YouTube beef started back in September 2018 when, out of nowhere, the Noida-based music label T-Series claimed the #2 subscriber spot, sending the YouTube community including Pewds in a tizzy. While it was only fun and games for the Swedish gamer, who even released a diss track on T-Series, his fans and friends took the YouTube war way too seriously. MrBeast, known for his extravagant challenges and philanthropy, and who is currently the most subscribed YouTube channel on the platform with 403 million subs, was a fairly 'small" channel back in the day yet he spearheaded the 'Subscribe To PewDiePie" meme and took the Internet euphoria to the next level. Saiman Says, an Indian YouTuber, also gained popularity (and subscribers) when he joined thousands of YouTube creators including Davie504, and Markiplier who backed the Swedish content creator in this subscriber race against T-Series. Saiman travelled to the UK and even made a collab video with PewDiePie where the latter tried Indian snacks. Pandemic, Marriage, Japan Fascinated by Japanese culture and his love for anime, PewDiePie expressed moving to Japan and decided to relocate to the country from the UK along with his wife Marzia and pugs, Edgar and Maya. In a video, he emphasised the struggles of obtaining a stringent visa and the difficulty of moving the pugs to a different country. The transition aligned with the lifestyles of the YouTubers-turned-partners who aimed for a quieter and quaint life away from the spotlight. Privacy was hard to come by in the UK and Sweden. PewDiePie's years of YouTube grind reached its tail end. The young boy who screamed, shouted, and was untamed which often landed him into the biggest of YouTube controversies, transitioned into a laidback creator and vlogger with a slow, quiet lifestyle in Japan. In 2023, the couple welcomed their son Bjorn. His balanced and quieter YouTube content was welcomed by his loyal Bro Army. Who Are The Top 10? The current YouTubers reigning the video-sharing platform include the likes of MrBeast, Cocomelon, Like Nastya. Notably, three out of 10 YouTube channels are India-based channels featuring music and entertainment content. MrBeast: 408 million subscribers T-Series: 300 million subscribers Cocomelon- Nursery Rhymes: 195 million subscribers YouTube Movies: 186 million subscribers Vlad and Niki: 133 million subscribers Kids Diana Show: 130 million subscribers Like Nastya: 125 million subscribers Music: 122 million subscribers top videos View all Zee Music Company: 114 million subscribers PewDiePie currently has 110 million subscribers on YouTube.
