Story of a taxi driver
This figure is significant considering the film hasn't had an aggressive promotional campaign or wide media coverage like Mohanlal's previous film, 'L2: Empuraan.' The strong pre-release performance points to the continued pulling power of Mohanlal, who plays the role of Shanmugham — a humble taxi driver whose life takes a dramatic turn when he is pulled into legal and bureaucratic entanglements. Shobana appears in a pivotal role, marking an exciting reunion on screen for the iconic duo.

Tharun Moorthy's concern
In a recent interview with The Cue, director Tharun Moorthy expressed concern over how the film is being perceived by audiences ahead of its release. 'When we are doing a film with a brand like Mohanlal, we should obviously expect good hype,' he said. 'But what I am worried about is that we have already fixed a genre for the movie. This comes under family drama.'
Tharun Moorthy, known for his socially grounded narratives, clarified that 'Thudarum' is not a mystery thriller or investigative drama, as some are speculating. 'When we define a genre and make a movie accordingly, if anything comes beyond that, I cannot accept it—that's my nature,' he added, admitting that such reactions may stem from his limited experience.
Set to release on April 25, 2025, 'Thudarum' promises to offer a grounded, emotional narrative.

Somy Ali on supporting LGBTQIA+: You deserve safety and dignity

Somy Ali Actor-turned-activist Somy Ali has long supported those facing abuse and displacement. Through her non-profit NGO, she has worked closely with survivors from diverse backgrounds, including many from the LGBTQAI+ community, offering legal assistance, shelter, and long-term support. She shares, 'Some of the stories I've come across have been deeply distressing. Many LGBTQAI+ individuals come to us after being forced out of their homes or facing situations where their safety is at risk. There's nothing wrong with being who you are — but unfortunately, not everyone sees it that way.' Somy recalls helping an individual who faced serious threats due to his identity. She says, 'We were able to support him through relocation, provide shelter, and connect him with legal resources. He's now in a safer environment and working towards rebuilding his life.' Even after finding safety, survivors often carry emotional wounds that take time to heal. 'One of the most common concerns I hear is, 'Will you still help me if I tell you everything?' My answer is always — yes. We see you, and we are here to support you,' she says. Pride Month, for Somy, is a time to reaffirm this commitment. 'Back when I was a student at Nova Southeastern University, I helped start the first Gay and Lesbian student group there. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Launch Offer – SPR Gurgaon Homes Signature Global Book Now Undo That experience shaped how I view advocacy — it's about creating safe spaces where people can share, heal, and be seen,' she says. Each year, her NGO hosts quiet gatherings during Pride Month to support survivors, but the work, she stresses, is year-round. She asserts, 'For us, Pride is about creating room for every story — not just visibility, but belonging.' She notes that challenges still persist, especially for those navigating economic hardship. She says, 'Many of the LGBTQAI+ individuals we work with face multiple vulnerabilities — housing instability, lack of employment, and limited family support. While conversations around inclusion have grown, many still struggle with safety and acceptance.' Somy believes lasting change happens through empathy. She says, 'People respond to stories. When they hear what someone has experienced, it opens a door to understanding. You build bridges through listening, compassion, and respect. That's the only way forward — for all of us.'

EXCLUSIVE: Netflix to re-negotiate Rs 130 crore Thug Life OTT deal after Kamal Haasan starrer's BO failure

Thug Life starring Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan TR hit the big screens on June 5, 2025, but has failed to stand out at the box office. Now, the OTT giant Netflix is re-negotiating its post-theatrical streaming deal. In an exclusive report, we at Pinkvilla learned that Netflix is planning to negotiate a different deal for the movie's OTT release. The agreement is being reconsidered with a 20-25% drop from the previous quoted amount. Earlier, we had reported that the digital rights of the movie were sold to the OTT platform for a whopping Rs 130 crores. The huge number was quoted due to Haasan and Mani Ratnam reuniting after the iconic Nayakan, but it was met with negative reviews on release. Following the mixed reactions, the movie failed to attract audiences to the big screens, resulting in disappointing box office revenue. With Netflix re-negotiating the OTT deal, we'll have to wait and see where their conclusion will reach. There were also reports that the movie would be streamed after 4 weeks since theatrical release, as opposed to the earlier-mentioned eight weeks. Talking about the movie, Thug Life is a gangster actioner focusing on the story of a Rangaraaya Sakthivel, a crime boss based in New Delhi. Following a shootout, the man adopts a young boy named Amaran and raises him as his own. As his foster son grows up and becomes a formidable member of the mafia, the leadership dynamic changes. Now, with a dark animosity brewing between father and son, Sakthivel is dead set on revenge. Aside from the main cast, the movie features an ensemble cast that includes Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Abhirami, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, and more in key roles. Moving ahead, Kamal Haasan is next set to appear in the tentatively titled KH237 with AnbArivu duo serving as the directors. On the other hand, STR is speculated to soon join hands with director Vetrimaaran for an action venture. He also has multiple films in the lineup.

What was the networth of Karisma Kapoor's ex-husband, Sunjay Kapur? Why was his company named 'Sona'

Business tycoon and former spouse of Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor, Sunjay Kapur, tragically passed away in London on Thursday. The 52-year-old industrialist reportedly suffered a fatal cardiac arrest after accidentally ingesting a bee. His unexpected demise has left his loved ones and the business world in mourning. Known for his prominent role as chairman of auto parts giant Sona Comstar, Sunjay was also a father to three children: Samaira and Kiaan with Karisma Kapoor and Azarias with his third wife, Priya Sachdev. He had also taken on the role of a father to Priya's daughter from an earlier relationship. Journey Through Marriages and Fatherhood Sunjay's entry into public attention was largely driven by his high-profile wedding to Karisma Kapoor in 2003. This was not his first marriage—prior to Karisma, he had been briefly married to fashion designer Nandita Mahtani. Following a lengthy separation and eventual legal divorce from Karisma in 2016, Sunjay went on to tie the knot with former model Priya Sachdev. Their union brought together children from their past relationships, forming a close-knit blended family. Despite personal challenges, Sunjay made a consistent effort to remain involved in the lives of his children from all marriages. His wife, Priya, often posted glimpses of their warm family moments—vacations, birthdays, and holiday celebrations—offering a rare look at their harmonious domestic life. In a candid discussion on the YouTube platform 'Indian Silicon Valley,' Sunjay had spoken openly about the significance of nurturing strong familial bonds. He emphasized how much he valued unity and togetherness, even in the context of a non-traditional family. He also revealed that he and Priya were undergoing professional guidance in parenting, aiming to provide their children with the most supportive upbringing possible. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Chrissy Metz Is So Skinny Now And She Looks Like A Model Cleverst Business Legacy and Global Reach Born into an entrepreneurial lineage, Sunjay stepped into the auto components business founded by his father, Surinder Kapur, in 1997.
