AFL golfers Jaxon Prior and Oliver Hollands take on Jon Ralph in Code Sports Classic
Don't miss out on the headlines from AFL. Followed categories will be added to My News.
It was a throwaway comment from Essendon's Jaxon Prior that perfectly captured the golfing form during the inaugural Code Sports Classic.
'I think you'd find there are a lot of people, especially other AFL players, that can do exactly what we're doing right now – which is hacking it around.'
The three-hole competition was held for the first time at Spring Valley Golf Club, starring Prior, Carlton youngster Ollie Hollands and Code Sports footy reporter Jon Ralph.

Hollands is one of the AFL's best golfers, slotting in at No.3 of Code Sports top 50 list, while Prior rounds out the top 10.
But while there were thrilling moments, like a converted eagle, that showed signs of a future golfing career, there were also others, like one player chipping the ball directly into his cart, that proved footy was the right choice.
'We didn't pay, but we're getting our money's worth for the amount of shots we're having,' the player said after hitting his cart.
'Can I go home?'

But not long after conceding the par 4 hole to Ralph, the footy star teed off on the par 5 with a stunning 270m drive.

He then followed it up with a gorgeous iron shot that landed the ball within 10 feet, and then he promptly nailed the putt to secure an eagle and send the competition to overtime.
Hollands and Prior are used to playing in front of 80,000 screaming fans at the MCG, but it was a different nerves-inducing experience at the course.
It was watching a six-foot putt by Ralph on the sudden-death hole, which would have seen him win the inaugural Code Sports Classic.

Carlton pick debutant duo for crunch away game
Carlton are punting on two AFL debutants against Port Adelaide, including a 23-year-old only a month on their list. Both clubs have swung the selection axe, chopping four players for Thursday night's high-stakes fixture in Adelaide. Carlton's mid-season draftee Flynn Young and 20-year-old utility Billy Wilson will make AFL debuts. Wilson was pick 34 in the 2023 national draft and the Blues used pick four at this year's mid-season draft on Young. "Billy, he had to bide his time ... he's a terrific young man," Carlton coach Michael Voss said. "He's been working on his game really hard so he's certainly earned his opportunity. "And Flynn Young will also play ... to have our sixth, seventh debutant for the year, and to have exposure to these young men, to be able to come in and get roles done, it's a credit to them, the work they've done. "Also a real shout out to our development team because the last four or five weeks, we've seen a real acceleration in a lot of these young men's careers. "They have got them AFL ready and now they get their opportunity." The Blues also recalled Jordan Boyd and Lewis Young, with Voss dumping Mark Pittonet, Corey Durdin, Jaxon Binns and Matt Carroll. Patrick Cripps missed a match-eve jog at Adelaide's Unley Oval because of illness but Voss said the captain "will be right to go." "He came in yesterday and he was not training because he's feeling a bit off so we obviously don't want him around the main group." Port coach Ken Hinkley dropped Ryan Burton, Jeremy Finlayson, Jackson Mead and Christian Moraes after last Saturday's lacklustre 19-point home loss to Sydney. The Power defence has been bolstered by Aliir Aliir's return from a one-game absence because of a knee injury. Power stalwart Travis Boak was summoned for his 379th AFL game, with Hugh Jackson and Logan Evans also returning. Port's Brownlow medallist Ollie Wines (knee) remains sidelined for a second week. Both the Blues (10th) and Power (12th) have six-eight win-loss records and the loser will likely slip three wins outside the top eight. Port Adelaide probe club great in antisemitism furore
Port Adelaide are investigating board member and premiership captain Warren Tredrea after he was slammed for allegedly promoting antisemitic theories on social media. Tredrea will remain on the club's AFL board while it performs a 'formal governance review' of the 46-year-old. Port's move comes after The Jewish Council of Australia objected to an Instagram post from Tredrea related to comments about Israel from a guest on the retired footballer's podcast. "(The council) is deeply disturbed by the amplification of far-right antisemitic conspiracy theories in this Instagram post and podcast episode," executive officer Max Kaiser said in a statement. Port chairman David Koch said the club maintained "comprehensive governance standards". "Directors and officials of the club are entitled to their personal views, however there are concerns that recent content published is in breach of these standards," Koch said in a statement. "The club is committed to upholding the professional standards our members, partners and the community expect and deserve." Tredrea is revered and considered among Port's greatest AFL players. He is a four-time All Australian and captained the club to their only premiership in 2004. After a decorated 255-game playing career between 1997 and 2010, Tredrea moved into the media in Adelaide. Tredrea joined Channel Nine in 2013. He was dismissed in 2021 for refusing the company's COVID vaccine edict and lost a court appeal seeking $6 million in lost wages.
