State, Mumbai-based firm sign MoU to set up helicopter manufacturing facility in Nagpur
Mumbai-based Max Aerospace and Aviation Pvt Ltd on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state government to set up a helicopter manufacturing facility in Nagpur with an investment of Rs 8,000 crore over the next eight years. The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at the Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai. The plant is expected to generate approximately 2,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities and is set to begin operations by 2026. Speaking at the event, Fadnavis said the project aligns with the Centre's 'Make in India' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiatives and will position Nagpur as a key hub for aerospace manufacturing in the country. 'Max Aerospace choosing Nagpur for this project is a significant step. The state government is committed to providing all necessary support to ensure timely execution of the project,' he said. According to officials, the upcoming facility will focus on the customisation, integration, and flight testing of rotary-wing platforms. Fadnavis emphasised that the state has created favourable conditions for defence manufacturing in Nagpur and assured that all necessary cooperation will be provided to Max Aerospace. The MoU was signed between P. Anbalagan, Principal Secretary of the Department of Industries, and Bharat Malkani, chairperson of Max Aerospace. CEO of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) P Velarasu and other senior state officials were also present. 'This is Maharashtra's first dedicated facility for full-scale helicopter production. It will not only support India's defence manufacturing goals but also enhance the aerospace supply chain capabilities in the region,' said Malkani.

Kerala govt approves new barge to boost inland water freight sector
T'puram: The state govt has sanctioned the construction of a 500-metric tonne (MT)-capacity bulk barge for Kerala Shipping and Inland Navigation Corporation Ltd (KSINC), reviving a long-pending infrastructure project crucial to the state's inland water freight sector. However, the delayed implementation resulted in a significant cost escalation, with the final approved estimate rising to Rs 6.65 crore — up by nearly 48% from the original 2017 sanction. The revised sanction, issued on June 7, comes in the backdrop of rising freight demand from FACT Ltd, KSINC's largest client. KSINC currently handles about 300,000 MT of cargo annually, two-thirds of which is transported for FACT alone. With FACT planning to ramp up its operations to 600,000 MT per year, the new barge is seen as critical to meeting future capacity. Originally sanctioned in Oct 2017 at Rs 4.5 crore, the project was shelved when FACT altered its import strategy. A revival request was made by KSINC in 2022 as demand rebounded, but by then the cost landscape changed drastically. The most significant factor behind the cost increase was the enactment of Inland Vessel Act, 2021, and associated rules in 2022. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 中年以降であれば、このゲームは必須です。 BuzzDaily Winners ゲームをプレイ Undo The new regulations mandate that vessels exceeding 24 metres must be constructed under Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) or equivalent class society standards, necessitating advanced safety and structural features. These changes directly inflated material, design, and certification costs. Initial tenders post renewal saw lukewarm response and high bids — up to Rs 10.44 crore. In a cost-saving move, KSINC decided to shift construction to its own yard in Thoppumpady, avoiding yard rental and launch charges. A fresh round of bids under this model brought the estimate down to Rs 6.65 crore. The breakdown of the revised estimate shows steel works alone cost Rs 4.19 crore, followed by Rs 57.63 lakh for machinery and Rs 25.47 lakh for pipes and fittings. The plan was cleared by a technical advisory committee, and the finance department gave its nod with the condition that a detailed technical review be conducted. A three-member expert committee, including marine engineering and shipbuilding experts, approved the estimate and design plan. Of the Rs 6.65 crore, Rs 5 crore will come from the state plan fund under the Cargo Barge Construction (KSINC) scheme, while the remaining Rs 1.65 crore will be met from KSINC's own resources. The project was approved by the state cabinet on June 5. While the sanction marks a key step forward for the public sector shipping utility, the episode underscores the financial and regulatory pressures that delayed public infrastructure projects can face. Nonetheless, the state sees this as a strategic investment toward enhancing its inland water transport infrastructure in line with modern maritime standards. IndusInd Bank recommends Borkar & Muzumdar as joint statutory auditor to shareholders after RBI nod
After getting Reserve Bank of India's approval, the IndusInd Bank on Friday announced that it has recommended the appointment of Borkar & Muzumdar as joint statutory auditor to the shareholders in the upcoming 31st Annual General Meeting (AGM). "M/s Borkar & Muzumdar will hold office from the conclusion of 31st Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held in 2025 until the conclusion of the 34th AGM to be held in 2028, subject to the approval of the RBI every year. The appointment of M/s. Borkar & Muzumdar will be subject to the approval of shareholders of the Bank in the ensuing 31st AGM of the Bank," said the private lender in a stock exchange filing. Reserve Bank Governor Sanjay Malhotra on Friday said fraud-hit IndusInd Bank is "doing well" now, and added that the resignation of MD and CEO Sumant Kathpalia should be seen as a "good enough" step from an accountability perspective. The RBI also said the bank has complied with all the regulatory asks over the turbulent period. "The MD and CEO of the bank resigned, owning moral responsibilities. So, I thought that should be good enough. Do you expect that all the board members(should resign)... I think the MD and CEO, who is also a member of the board... has taken responsibility, that is at the board level itself," Malhotra said. Live Events The Governor made it clear that RBI will not shy away from taking any action against the bank and the law will take its own course if there are any criminalities in the matter. IndusInd Bank has been witnessing challenges for the last few quarters, starting with its microloan exposures and then conceding accounting lapses. It recorded the worst quarterly performance in its history by posting a Rs 2,329 crore loss in Q4FY25, as it took the brunt of all the accounting lapses and oversights.
