Chuck E. Cheese has launched a new arcade, and it's for adults
The iconic kids arcade chain announced it's looking to cater to teens and adults by opening Chuck's Arcade locations across eight states, according to a news release.
Chuck's Arcade will feature retro favorites like Ms. Pac-Man, Mortal Kombat and Centipede alongside newer games like Jurassic Park and Halo, the company said.
There are already Chuck's Arcade locations in malls around the country, including in St. Petersburg, Florida; Trumbull, Connecticut; Oklahoma City and Tulsa, Oklahoma; Victor, New York; Buford, Georgia; El Paso, Texas; Nashua and Salem, New Hampshire; and St. Louis.
The location in Kansas City, Missouri, features a full menu and original artwork on the walls. The company said 'no two locations are exactly alike.'
'Chuck's Arcade is a natural evolution — an opportunity to extend our arcade legacy into new formats that engage both lifelong fans and a new generation through a curated mix of retro classics and cutting-edge experiences,' Chuck E. Cheese CEO David McKillips said in the news release.
Each venue will be 'overseen' by one of the company's classic animatronic characters, from Chuck E. Cheese to other ones from Munch's Make Believe Band. A video on the company's website shows a statue of a character encased in glass in the middle of the arcade.
Some locations will also sell clothing, toys and novelty candy, according to the company.
The new locations come amid an ongoing rebrand for the company, which declared bankruptcy in 2020. A corporate restructuring and a $350 million investment then led to electronic ticketing, more adult menu items and new play areas at its hundreds of locations.
In March, it announced it was removing the iconic animatronic band from its locations.
'Of course, if you think about entertainment 47 years ago, it was incredible to have the animatronic band and new music,' McKillips told NBC News at the time. 'But in reality, the animatronics were getting tired.'
'Kids are consuming entertainment on a digital platform,' he added.

TOP FILMING LOCATION THE flick has brought movie-fever to Glasgow once again, with some punters dressed as Spider-Man putting in an appearance. A huge scaffolding structure safety rig was set up around the tank for Spider-Man to be harnessed in as he stood on the roof. Three New York-style police cars followed in hot pursuit as they sped down the road with their lights flashing behind him. And on Saturday, a huge chase scene saw cars thrown into the air as a huge crowd watched. A black film car raced ahead of the tank as it rumbled down the road, and a taxi and a van attached to hydraulic ramps were thrown into the air as the war machine sped past. A high-tech drone with a camera attached was zooming overhead to get aerial shots of the stunt as the tank came to a screeching halt at the bottom of the street. Glasgow now resembles the Big Apple for Holland's latest MCU appearance. Historic street signs have been covered with decor from Manhattan, while hot dog carts and newsstands are scattered among the streets. Movie vehicles are also being stored on West Campbell Street. The road has been lined with an ambulance and New York Fire Department pick-up truck, as well as scores of iconic New York yellow taxis and NYPD police cars. Glasgow City Council told the Scottish Sun that production crews would make the decision on whether filming would go ahead. XM2 could not comment when approached by the Scottish Sun.

In other clips Holland can be seen perched on top of a military vehicle on Bothwell Street with a NYPD car in hot pursuit. He can also be spotted making a dramatic pose on top of the vehicle, without the famous Spider-Man mask on. The Spider-Man Brand New Day film, which will be released in cinemas next summer, follows Peter Parker as he tries to focus on his university studies and leave his Spider-Man alter ego behind. However, when dark forces begin to threaten New York, Peter must suit-up again to protect his friends and neighbours. It's not the first time Glasgow has been transformed for the big screen. Earlier this year, parts of the city centre were closed off for filming of the Sci-Fi movie Ghostwriter. Not much is known about the blockbuster, but cinema legend Samuel L. Jackson is tapped to play a key role in the new J.J. Abrams film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Tom Holland spotted on Spider-Man set in Glasgow
On Sunday, 29-year-old Hollywood star Holland was spotted rehearsing scenes and waving to fans while clad in the superhero's famous suit. Spider-Man 4, officially titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is helmed by Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton. It is slated for a July 2026 release. Road closures and diversions throughout Glasgow can be expected until at least August 15. Plot details remain under wraps, but long-time Spider-Man franchise producer Amy Pascal, while appearing on Deadline's Behind the Lens podcast in December last year, teased what we can expect from the story. She said: 'We have to deal with the fact that he decided he was going to give up being Peter Parker [in No Way Home], and that he was going to focus on being Spider-Man because being Peter Parker was too hard.' The most recent Spider-Man film, 2021's No Way Home, was a huge box office success, grossing $1.9bn worldwide - making it the sixth highest-grossing movie in history.
