Beauty and the Geek star forced to deny she is involved in grisly murder case
Beauty and the Geek star, Kiera Johnstone, has taken to social media, refuting allegations she is involved in a murder case, which was reported in Australia last week
The winner of dating show, Beauty and the Geek, has vehemently denied her involvement in a grisly murder in New South Wales, Australia. Kiera Johnstone, 26, who appeared on the Australian version of the series in 2021, insisted she has nothing to do with the shocking case after reports surfaced on Friday that a woman who starred in the reality TV show had been charged with a murder in Port Lincoln.
A man's body was discovered in a home in the coastal town in Australia after emergency services were called to a property at about 3:25pm local time on Thursday following reports of a small fire. When crews arrived, they found a man dead inside the residence. A 34-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and later charged with murder.
A suppression order preventing the publication of any information that could identify the woman, the victim, or the specific details surrounding the man's death was issued.
However, after the news broke, speculation surfaced online attempting to link Keira with allegations stemming from the police report. Telling her followers there were rumours she had been involved in the murder for "reasons beyond my understanding", the reality star took to her Instagram Stories today.
Insisting she wanted to be "absolutely clear", Keira said: "Hi everyone. A former contestant from Beauty and the Geek has been charged with a very serious crime.
"Although no names have been released, for reasons beyond my understanding, there has been speculation online suggesting that I am involved.
"Let me be absolutely clear: I am not involved in any way. I have not been charged with a crime. I have literally never even had a parking fine. The allegations being discussed have nothing to with me, and the fact that I even need to says this is incredibly upsetting.
"It's deeply disturbing to see people spreading false information, making assumptions and sharing screenshots. I understand the internet can be quick to judge, but this kind of speculation is damaging and invasive and is something I take very seriously."
Asking anyone 'fuelling the gossip' to "please stop", she continued: "If you are part of the group fuelling this - sharing, gossiping or silently watching - I ask you to please stop.
"This is not entertainment. This is a serious situation, that involves real victims. you're literally sick if you think this is at all funny.
"As this has nothing to do with me, this will be the only time I speak on the matter. Thank you to those who reached out with kindness and common sense."
It comes after The Courier Mail reported on Friday that the woman arrested for the alleged murder was once a contestant on reality show Beauty and the Geek.
South Australia Police have confirmed the victim and the accused knew each other and had been in a relationship. The woman was refused police bail and remains in custody.
Assistant Commissioner Parrott said a cause of death had not yet been established and no further details could be released, as the victim's family had not yet been notified.
The woman did not apply for bail and has been detained under the Mental Health Act. She is expected to return to court in December.
The suppression order regarding the accused's identity is set to be reviewed by the court next week.

Kelsey Parker announces devastating loss of baby son in heartbreaking update
Kelsey, who was married to late The Wanted singer Tom Parker, had been due to give birth in the summer. Kelsey Parker has revealed the heartbreaking news that her third child has been born stillborn. The mum of two had been expecting her first child with partner Will Lindsay with a due date in the summer. However, the podcast star took to Instagram today to share the devastating update with fans. Kelsey shared a moving post, which featured a poem dedicated to her son, who the couple have named Pheonix. Kelsey is already mum to daughter Aureila and son Bodhi, who she shares with her late husband Tom Parker - the beloved The Wanted singer who tragically passed away in 2022 following a brain tumour diagnosis. Kelsey, who hosts the Mum's The Word! podcast with Danny Jones' wife Georgia, announced she and Will were set to welcome a baby in January, three years after Tom's death. At the time, she revealed she was delighted with the news and felt she carried the "blessing" of the late Tom, who passed away at 33 After a battle with brain cancer. Alongside the three-verse poem Kelsey shared, entitled 'Born Sleeping, Forever Loved, she said: 'Phoenix Parker-Lindsay, you will forever be loved." Friends and followers joined together to send her love and pay tribute. GMB host Charlotte Hawkins said: "Oh no Kelsey I'm so sorry, just heartbreaking. Sending you so much love." Former Love Island star Olivia Bowen said:" Kelsey I'm so sorry. Thinking of you all and sending you so much love." Married at First Sight expert Paul C Brunson added: "Kelsey, I'm heartbroken for you. Over the last year, I've had the privilege of getting to know your strength, your grace, and the immense love you carry. This loss is beyond words. I'm holding you and your family in my heart. May you feel surrounded by love as you begin to heal." Speaking previously about the family's excitement at the new arrival, Kelsey opened up on how Will gets on with her two kids. She said: "They are so close with Will. He went away for the weekend recently and they rang him every day and were like, 'When are you coming back?' I think it's because they've lost someone, too, as other children probably wouldn't be like that with anew father figure in their life. "Something that's been making me emotional is that the baby's going to call Will 'dad' one day and I think that's going to be hard for them to navigate. "They don't call Will 'dad' but I don't know how that's going to change when the baby's here. It might be strange for them. I have spoken to them about it and they kind of understand, but talking about it and it happening are very different things." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! British actress Emily Atack and her partner, Dr Alistair Garner, were joined by friends and loved ones as the celebrated the first birthday of their son, Barney Emily Atack enjoyed the company of her friends and the summer sunshine as she celebrated the first birthday of her son, Barney. The 35-year-old Rivals star welcomed her baby boy with partner Dr. Alistair Garner on last year. The couple welcomed close ones to join them on Saturday to celebrate the first birthday of their baby boy. And taking to Instagram Stories, Emily shared photos and video clips of everyone enjoying the party. Celebrity Juice star Leigh Francis, 52, was among those in attendance which other snaps showed lots of birthday themed snacks and food products. Emily revealed the party food went down a storm with some of the younger guests attending the event. Sharing a snap of a tray of treats, the star typed: "Just heaven. The kids ate every single thing." The party was held two days after Emily uploaded a string of photos of her son and from the time of her pregnancy to celebrate his first year of life. In an emotional Instagram caption, the actress and comedian wrote: "Happy 1st birthday to our son Barney James Garner. The Baby Barn Owl." She continued: "I've dreamt of you my whole life. It was always you. I love you beyond words, our beautiful, BEAUTIFUL boy. You are so cherished my heart could burst." Emily and Alistair have been in a relationship since 2022 and were overjoyed to welcome Barney a year ago. The couple keep their romance largely out of the spotlight but it is known that they had been friends for years before they embarked on a romance. Reports have revealed that Alistair is Emily's cousin by marriage as he is the stepson of her aunt. Emily documented her pregnancy online after first announcing she was expecting her first child back in December 2024. She wrote: "I've never been so happy and utterly terrified at the same time. Every day is mixed with thrill, fear, joy, hysteria, topped off with a lot of vomiting - a bit like when you've just stepped off of the Oblivion at Alton Towers on a hangover. "I've got to know my body on such an insane level. It's made me appreciate the one I've been given so much." She continued at the time: "I'm doing my absolute best to make it a home for the little squid I'm growing. "We can already sense the baby is reclined on a mattress of peanut butter and jam sandwiches in there, demanding more chocolate buttons. "I'm so happy to be writing all of this to you all. You've always stuck by me through the years - do stick around to watch me enter my mum era." While marking Barney's birthday this week, Emily shared a string of photos from her pregnant days. Snaps showed her proudly showing off her baby bump - while other snaps showed her son at various stages from the first 12 months of his life. Alistair also featured in some of the images, showing him hugging, kissing and doting on his son. And one touching image showed Emily hugging her son while in bed with the family dog at her side.
