Nike to start selling its products directly on Amazon's US website again

Washington Post22-05-2025

Nike is going to start selling its products directly on Amazon's U.S. website for the first time since 2019 as the company looks for more ways to bring goods to customers and boost sales.
Nike, which sells footwear, clothing and other items, cut ties with Amazon at a time when the online retailer was trying to lure big brands to its website. While Nike stopped selling its sneakers and athletic gear directly to Amazon in 2019, Nike's goods were still available on Amazon.com, sold by independent sellers that list their merchandise directly on Amazon's marketplace.

Trump threatens ‘very serious consequences' if Musk backs Democrats

President Donald Trump threatened 'very serious consequences' against Elon Musk on Saturday if the tech billionaire and former adviser were to fund any Democratic candidates, the latest escalation in rhetoric as the messy breakup between the two former allies. Since their spectacular falling out, Musk has floated the idea of launching a new political party and continued to criticize a massive tax and immigration bill that Trump is urging congressional Republicans to pass.

iOS 26 For iPhone: 7 Key Upgrade Predictions, Just Hours Away

Apple's big software developers' conference, WWDC25, is due to open soon, at 10 a.m. Pacific on Monday, June 9, to be precise. There will be new software for the iPhone, believed to be called iOS 26, for iPad (iPadOS 26), macOS 26 for the Mac, and so on. Here's what's thought to be coming for the iPhone (and here's when you can install it for yourself). This year's WWDC is almost here. Apple More features are coming and it's thought these will include upgraded intelligence models to power Genmoji, Writing Tools and summarization — which is currently missing from News apps, so we can hope this will return. It's also thought that Apple will open its on-device foundation models to developers. This could be remarkable. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, 'Apple is preparing a battery optimization mode that uses AI to save power on its iPhones. This functionality may come later, though, as it was developed in concert with the company's slimmer iPhone 17 model, which isn't slated for release until later this year. The technology is well-suited to that device since the phone is going to have a smaller battery,' he said. In other words, something to look forward to, but almost certainly not just yet. There has been talk of the new design, something thought to take inspiration from the menus and interface of Apple Vision Pro with their translucent, glass-like effects. The big question was: are app icons about to become circular? Gurman says no, though they may change from how they are now. Full details of this here. The Translate app is about to get a big upgrade, again, according to Mark Gurman, as part of 'a systemwide push into translation. The …Translate app …functionality is getting integrated across its operating systems,' Gurman says. Uses include live translation of phone calls and text messages and AirPods users will get something similar at some point — read about that here. If you've been thinking of switching to WhatsApp, Apple wants to tempt you to stay with Messages by adding the capability to set background images, which will sync between devices, including the people you're chatting to. It's possible that further changes to RCS integration will also come, offering much more secure messages between iPhones and Android phones. The Camera app will be updated to make it look simpler to use, after successive additions of features and options led to an interface some found a bit clunky. Mac users know that Preview is a splendidly useful app, especially for managing documents and PDFs, for instance. 'The software looks similar to the Mac version, and its launch screen is in the same style as apps like Pages and Keynote,' Gurman claims. There are many more than seven upgrades coming, of course. I've tried to pick some which will likely be front-and-center in the keynote, as well as some more peripheral items. Check back for more coverage before and after the keynote happens.

Trump says Musk to face 'very serious consequences' if he funds Democrats

Donald Trump said on Saturday there would be "serious consequences" if Elon Musk funds US Democrats running against Republicans who vote for the president's sweeping tax-cut and spending bill and said his relationship with his billionaire donor is over. In a telephone interview with NBC News, Trump declined to say what those consequences would be, and went on to add that he had not had discussions about whether to investigate Musk. Asked if he thought his relationship with the Tesla and SpaceX CEO was over, Trump said, "I would assume so, yeah." "No," Trump told NBC when asked if he had any desire to repair his relationship with Musk. Musk and Trump began exchanging insults this week, as Musk denounced Trump's bill as a "disgusting abomination." Musk's opposition to the measure is complicating efforts to pass the bill in Congress, where Republicans hold a slim majority in the House of Representatives and Senate. The bill narrowly passed the House last month and is now before the Senate, where Trump's fellow Republicans are considering making changes. Nonpartisan analysts estimate the measure would add $2.4 trillion to the US debt over 10 years. Trump said on Saturday he is confident the bill would get passed by the US 4 July Independence Day holiday. "In fact, yeah, people that were, were going to vote for it are now enthusiastically going to vote for it, and we expect it to pass," Trump told NBC. Musk had deleted some social media posts critical of Trump, including one that signaled support for impeaching the president, appearing to seek a de-escalation of their public feud, which exploded on Thursday. Trump late on Friday suggested a review of federal government contracts held by Musk. People who have spoken to Musk said his anger has begun to recede and they think he will want to repair his relationship with Trump.
