UiPath appoints Sara Al-Alsheikh as Regional VP for Saudi Arabia
UiPath, a global leader in agentic automation, has appointed Sara Al-Alsheikh as Regional Vice President (RVP) and Managing Director for Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Bahrain, amid rising demand for AI-powered automation adoption across the Gulf.
Al-Alsheikh will lead UiPath's go-to-market and customer success strategy across Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Bahrain and act as Managing Director of the UiPath regional hub, headquartered in Riyadh.
She will focus on accelerating growth in key sectors such as government, banking, oil and gas, and others, strengthening UiPath's partner ecosystem, and driving customer success across large-scale digital transformation initiatives, the company said.
Agentic Automation Momentum
The Gulf region is experiencing a significant surge in digital transformation initiatives, with organisations increasingly adopting advanced automation technologies to enhance efficiency and competitiveness. UiPath is at the forefront of this evolution, enabling local businesses and governments to develop and orchestrate complex AI-powered automation deployments through seamless integration of AI agents, software robots, and human collaboration.
Thanks to her exceptional track record of success having worked closely with UiPath customers in the region since joining in 2023 as Director of Public Sector and Public Investment Fund (PIF), Al-Alsheikh's appointment aligns with this momentum. Furthermore, it is placing UiPath in a solid position to further support the Gulf's ambitious Vision 2030 objectives by fostering innovation and driving sustainable growth across key sectors, while also supporting gender inclusion goals, the company said.
With over a decade of experience at global technology firms including HP, IBM, and SAP, she represents a new generation of Saudi leaders driving innovation, inclusion, and sustainable growth across the region's technology landscape.

Hajj sets global benchmark for Smart crowd management
As the sun rose over Mina on the Day of Tarwiyah, more than one million pilgrims moved in unison — guided by faith, devotion, and a sophisticated web of artificial intelligence, smart systems, and human coordination that ensured a journey as smooth as it was spiritual. This unprecedented mobilisation, orchestrated by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and its partners in the ecosystem, marks a major milestone in the 2025 Hajj season. Over 1.4 million international pilgrims, representing over 130 nationalities, arrived at the holy sites this week — transported safely and efficiently via over 20,000 buses and the Mashair Train network. 'This is one of the largest coordinated people-movements on Earth,' said Dr Emmad Flibman, Tafweej Advisor at the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. 'Thanks to more than 98% alignment across Hajj groups, pilgrims are able to fulfil their rites in peace and without crowding—on their own schedule.' Saudi Arabia's mastery of crowd management is the result of decades of experience hosting the world's largest recurring religious gathering. Every Hajj season builds on the last, with extensive simulations, audits, and post-event analysis feeding into a dynamic system of continuous improvement. The Kingdom's ability to harmonize massive movement with minimal disruption is not only a logistical achievement—it's a spiritual service. The infrastructure behind the scenes tells the story: multi-level stoning complexes, expanded pilgrimage routes, high-speed trains, smart surveillance networks, and a communication system that spans languages and nationalities. Every component is part of a single philosophy: to safeguard the pilgrim's journey both physically and spiritually. 'Everything felt so calm and organised,' said Fatima Ahmed, a first-time pilgrim from Indonesia. 'I was nervous before coming, but the way we were guided made it feel like the journey was being carried for us.' Saudi Arabia's approach shows not only careful planning but also a deep respect for cultural and emotional needs. Movement schedules are thoughtfully timed to match the spiritual flow of the rituals. Group leaders from each country work closely with local authorities to support a smooth and meaningful experience. Communication is clear, caring, and offered in many languages. This balance between organization and devotion is what truly sets Saudi Arabia apart. The ministry conducted large-scale simulations and trained thousands of staff ahead of Tarwiyah Day, ensuring that no detail was left to chance. Emergency response units, service stations, and crowd guidance personnel were all activated as part of a multi-agency effort. 'Our goal is not just to manage movement,' Dr Flibman added. 'It's to honour the spiritual significance of each pilgrim's journey.' Saudi Arabia's Hajj operation is now studied globally as a model for managing mass gatherings — religious or otherwise. Teledyne GFD partners with IDS to manufacture in Saudi Arabia
Teledyne Gas & Flame Detection (Teledyne GFD) is partnering with Industrial Detection Solutions (IDS) to establish a new 699 sq m manufacturing facility in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. This partnership will enable the local production of high-precision sensors for detecting toxic and combustible gases, helping to protect workers and assets at oil and gas production/drilling facilities, LNG/CNG plants, and refining and petrochemical sites. A grand opening ceremony will officially declare the plant open on June 19, the company said. Gas detection is an essential safety aspect throughout the oil and gas industry. With so much activity in the Middle East, Teledyne GFD wanted to bring the production of key gas detection solutions closer to their point of use. This strategy also aligns with the IKTVA (In-Kingdom Total Value Add) programme that promotes local manufacturing in KSA. IKTVA is an initiative to increase economic diversification and create a sustainable ecosystem in Saudi Arabia's oil and gas industry. The programme aims to increase the use of in-Kingdom suppliers, expand local supply chain capabilities and capacities, and drive industry collaboration through supplier development. By partnering with Industrial Detection Solutions, Teledyne GFD will help to meet the ambitions of the IKTVA via the local manufacture of popular products like its DM-700 toxic gas sensor, and FP-700 and IR-700 combustible gas sensors. The intelligent, plug-in, field-replaceable cell automatically recognises gas type and range. Teledyne GFD's FP-700 is also a non-intrusive 'smart' sensor, this time for the detection and monitoring of combustible gases over the range of 0-100% LEL using catalytic bead sensor technology. The IR-700 is a similar solution for combustible hydrocarbon gases. It uses miniature non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) optical sensor technology to detect and monitor gases over the range of 0-100% LEL.
