From Sean White to Bo Nix, here are Auburn football's top passers since 2000
Auburn football will trot a new quarterback on the field this season in Oklahoma transfer Jackson Arnold.
Arnold has college experience, making 10 starts for the Sooners between 2023 and 2024. In that time, he threw for 1,984 yards and 16 touchdowns. He made his biggest splash last season by passing for 1,421 yards and 12 touchdowns in a role where he mostly held the starting quarterback job, but was platooned in several situations.
Arnold will have a fresh start at Auburn and will have plenty of reliable targets to pass to, such as Cam Coleman, Eric Singleton, and Horatio Fields. With two seasons of eligibility remaining, Arnold could cement himself as one of the greatest passers in Auburn history.

No. 10 Sean White
White played just two seasons at Auburn, throwing over 1,000 yards in each season. He played a large role in getting Auburn to the Sugar Bowl in 2016 by passing for 1,679 yards and nine touchdowns in a two-quarterback system. White ended his Auburn career with 2,845 yards and a completion percentage of 61.5%.
No. 9 Cam Newton
Cam Newton had the best season of any Auburn quarterback in history during the 2010 season by passing for 2,854 yards and 30 scores while adding 1,473 yards and 20 scores on the ground. However, he played just one season at Auburn, which explains his placement on the list. Despite having the ninth-highest passing yards among Auburn quarterbacks since 2000, he ranks No. 11 in Auburn history in career touchdown passes, leading several notable quarterbacks Reggie Slack, Ben Leard, and Jeff Burger.
No. 8 Chris Todd
Before Cam Newton, there was Chris Todd. The Texas Tech transfer joined Auburn's roster in 2008, where he split time with Kodi Burns before taking over the job full-time in 2009 when Burns moved to wide receiver. He completed 60% of his passes in 2009 for 2,612 yards and 22 scores and led the Tigers to the Outback Bowl in year one of the Gene Chizik era. In his two years at Auburn, Todd passed for 3,515 yards.
No. 7 Ben Leard
We go all the way to the beginning of the millennium for the No. 7 passer on the list, Ben Leard. Leard and Jeff Klein split time at the position in 1999 before Leard took over a majority of the snaps in 2000, where he passed for 2,158 yards and 12 scores. He ended his Auburn career with 4,289 yards and 28 touchdowns.
No. 6 Payton Thorne
Auburn's most recent QB1 checks in at No. 6 on the list after passing for 4,468 yards and 37 touchdowns in two seasons on the Plains. Thorne cracked the top 10 in career passing touchdowns last season by throwing 21 touchdown passes, pushing him to No. 7 all time ahead of the likes of Jarrett Stidham, Nick Marshall, and Patrick Nix.
No. 5 Nick Marshall
Nick Marshall led Auburn to its second BCS National Championship appearance of the 2010s in 2013 by passing for 1,976 yards and 14 touchdowns while rushing for an additional 1,068 yards and 12 scores. His passing game was taken to another level in 2014 when he eclipsed the 2,000-yard mark on his way to posting 4,508 yards during his two seasons in Auburn.
No. 4 Jarrett Stidham
Stidham, like so many others on this list, made a giant impact in just two seasons as Auburn's quarterback. Stidham led the Tigers to wins over Georgia and Alabama, who were ranked No. 1 at the time of their game with Auburn, and to the SEC Championship Game in 2017. He led the SEC that season in completed passes (246) and completion percentage (66.5%) while passing for 3,158 yards and 18 touchdowns. While the Tigers did not enjoy as much success in 2018, Stidham still managed to post 2,794 passing yards and 18 touchdowns en route to a 5,952 yard total at Auburn.
No. 3 Brandon Cox
Brandon Cox appeared in 44 games between 2004-07, and passed for at least 2,000 yards in his three seasons as the starting quarterback from 2005-07. His best season was in 2005, when he followed Jason Campbell's stellar 2024 season by passing for 2,324 yards and 15 touchdowns. He ended his Auburn career with 6,959 yards and 42 touchdowns.
No. 2 Bo Nix
Maybe one of the biggest "what-ifs" regarding recent Auburn quarterbacks is Bo Nix. Nix is the program's second top passer since 2000, and was just over 50 yards away from becoming the Tigers' record-holder. However, he went on to pass for 8,101 yards and 74 touchdowns at Oregon over the final two years of his career. He ended his collegiate days with 15,351 yards and 113 touchdowns, but at Auburn, he threw for 7,250 yards and 39 touchdowns in three seasons.
No. 1 Jason Campbell
Jason Campbell takes the top spot after passing for 7,299 yards between 2001-04. He passed for over 2,000 yards in 2003 and 2024, combining to pass for 30 touchdowns. In 2004, Campbell passed for 2,700 yards and 20 touchdowns while leading the Tigers to an undefeated season and a Sugar Bowl championship.

Where LSU football's recruiting class ranks after massive weekend on the trail
LSU football picked up two crucial commitments for its 2026 class to kick off August. Defensive linemen Darryus McKinley and Deuce Geralds chose the Tigers in their announcements over the weekend. Both rank inside the top 50 at their position and were predicted to choose LSU for much of their recruitment. Despite the big weekend, it wasn't enough to move LSU in the recruiting rankings. The additions to LSU's class didn't boost its overall standing. Rivals' Industry Rankings and 247Sports both slot the Tigers' group at No. 8 nationally and No. 5 in the SEC. Of the teams in 247Sports' top 10, LSU had the second-to-last amount of commitments at 18, one ahead of No. 7 Oregon. National No. 1 Georgia has 31 commitments, followed by USC with 32. LSU's group possesses two consensus five-star prospects in defensive end Lamar Brown and wide receiver Tristen Keys. 78% of the class are blue chip recruits, meaning most of the class is made up of four and five-star players. 56% of LSU's class hails from Louisiana. Head coach Brian Kelly made keeping the best in-state players at home a priority this cycle, which paid off in getting eight of the state's top 10 prospects to choose the Tigers.

Riley Greene Understanding Role As Tigers' Most Dangerous Hitter
Riley Greene is a key member of one of the most dangerous offenses in Major League Baseball. Despite recent struggles, the Tigers are sixth in baseball in runs scored. Three of their hitters were in the American League's starting lineup for last month's All-Star Game, Greene joined by second baseman Gleyber Torres and infielder/outfielder Javier Baez. However, Tigers manager A.J. Hinch acknowledges that Greene can do the most damage. The 24-year-old left fielder is hitting .269/.315/.509 with 26 home runs and 84 RBIs in 110 games for the Tigers, who hold an eight-game lead in the AL Central. "He is the guy in this lineup that's targeted the most," Hinch said. "He's the most productive, so that comes with a little more importance because the other teams' game-planning sessions are geared as much toward him as any of our players. I'm sure teams spend more time trying to figure out ways to get him out." Being pitched tougher than most hitters doesn't seem to affect Greene. He is third in the AL in RBIs and fourth in homers. Greene Pays Father Debt of Gratitude Of course, it's not hyperbole to say that Greene was born to hit. His father, Alan Greene, is a longtime hitting instructor in the Orlando area and played a pivotal role in his son's development, culminating in his selection as the fifth overall pick in the 2019 amateur draft following his graduation from Paul J. Hagerty High School in Oviedo, Florida. "I started playing baseball when I was 3 years old," Riley Greene said with a smile. "My dad was crazy about my swing and everything since I can remember. So, yes, he definitely helped me get this far." Greene showed his appreciation of his father touchingly on June 15 after the Tigers lost to the Cincinnati Reds 8-4 at Comerica Park on Father's Day. First, Greene presented Alan Greene with a framed No. 31 jersey that he wore in his major-league debut in 2022. The younger Greene then presented his father with keys to a restored 1987 Chevrolet truck, the same model Alan used to drive Riley to Little League games. "He taught more than just how to hit," Riley Greene said of Alan. "He taught me to stand tall and be a man." Riley Greene Blossomed in 2024 Riley Greene has stood tall during the last two seasons. Last year, he helped the Tigers make an improbable run to the postseason for the first time since 2014, hitting .262/.348/.479 with 24 homers in 137 games while being selected to the All-Star Game as a reserve. Greene has been even better this season, as the starting nod in the All-Star Game suggests. He is a bargain for the Tigers as his salary is just $812,400. Greene figures to get a substantial raise in the offseason when he becomes eligible for salary arbitration for the first time. However, Greene isn't thinking about his salary at the moment. He is looking to get the Tigers back to the postseason, where they upset the Houston Astros in the AL Wild Card round last season before losing to the Cleveland Guardians in a Division Series. "This season has been a lot of fun," Greene said. "This is a great team, a great clubhouse, a lot of talented players, and a lot of really good people on this team. It's fun to be around these guys and it's fun to compete with these guys, too. "I went through the last two months of last season with these guys when everyone counted us out, and we ended up making the playoffs. That confidence has carried over, and this has been a special season, but it's not over yet. We still have work to do." Riley Greene Looking For Improvement Greene would like to cut down on his strikeouts as he leads MLB with 147 in 428 at-bats. "I could definitely cut down on my chase a lot," Greene said. "I've been chasing a bunch, and I definitely could walk a little more. I could definitely cut down on my swing. I just need to be sure I'm getting good pitches to hit," Hinch, though, can live with the strikeouts if Greene continues to be productive. "Riley's understanding more and more about how teams are going to approach him and what his responsibility is," Hinch said. "He takes that to heart, and he wants to get better. I remember early in his career when I would be asked about (his lack of) power, and now his power is really showing up, and the questions are shifting to his strikeouts. "There's a tradeoff in trying to chase one or the other," Hinch continued about Riley Greene. "He's a well-rounded hitter but has his peaks and valleys like most young players. What we're to do is have Riley have longer peaks and shorter valleys."
