Thursday, June 5 forecast: Limited rain today, storms on Friday

Heavy rain led to dangerous flooding in Greene, Webster, Wright, Pulaski, and Laclede counties yesterday. Three water rescues were performed in Webster County, where an estimated 3″ to 5″ of rain fell. Download our KOLR 10 weather app The rain is largely gone this morning, and now we're dealing with areas of fog and drizzle. The gloomy morning will linger close to midday before we begin to break apart the clouds a bit this afternoon. Expect a warm and humid day in the upper 70s and low 80s. Another wave of heavy rain and thunderstorms is scheduled to arrive on Friday morning and is expected to wind down in the early afternoon. Aside from the flooding risk, this storm could also bring damaging winds of 60-70 MPH. The risk of an isolated tornado is low. Friday's storm should depart early enough that we may catch a moment of late-day sun. A few lingering showers are possible on Friday evening, but most of the rain should have moved on by then. Another big wave or rain and thunder will likely develop Friday night across Oklahoma, shifting southeast through Arkansas Saturday morning. Areas near and south of Highway 60, Southern Missouri into Northern Arkansas, may find another round of heavy rain Saturday morning. This storm may take a southern route, meaning we may avoid the heaviest rain Saturday morning. Weekend weather will feature a mix of sun and clouds with warm and humid conditions. There will be a risk of scattered showers and thunderstorms both Saturday and Sunday, more so on Saturday than on Sunday. A stronger cold front may clear the area Monday, bringing a risk of scattered showers, followed by less humid and quieter weather Tuesday and Wednesday. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Staying warm and humid to close out the week

TODAY: Warm & Humid, Late PM T-Storm (Ridges). Hi 89. TONIGHT: A Few T-Storms, Muggy. Lo 66. FRIDAY: Partly Sunny, Stray Eve. T-Storm. Hi 86. Yesterday's official high of 89° makes it the warmest day so far this year. Some locations in Central PA also hit 90° for the first time this year too! It remains warm and humid today and tomorrow to close out the first week of June. Expect a mix of sun and clouds today with highs just shy of 90° again. Some late evening ridgetop t-storms could develop just after sunset, but most of the region will stay dry today. There is a slightly better chance for a stray storm tomorrow afternoon and evening, but again, nothing significant is expected. Highs tomorrow will be in the mid 80s. Saturday morning seems to bring the better chance for showers, but the details still remain uncertain. An area of low pressure along the coast could merge with a front to bring a period of showers on Saturday, but if the low pressure does not phase with the front, then rain chances shift to our east. As of now, Saturday is trending drier with a few morning showers and some afternoon sunshine with lowering humidity. Sunday should be mainly dry but a few late day showers can't be ruled out. Next week will bring another front that will stall near the region with more humidity and afternoon and evening storms for Monday and Tuesday. The next week features typical summer weather. Almost daily chances for a passing shower or storm, but nothing appears overly widespread or severe. Outdoor plans will be okay, but keep an eye on the forecast and track that radar on the free abc27 Weather app. -Meteorologist Brett Thackara Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Heavy rain hampers tornado recovery efforts for residents

ST. LOUIS – The tornado that hit just weeks ago caused $1.6 billion in damage and in neighborhoods where homes are still covered in tarps. The heavy rain on Wednesday led to more water leaks and growing fears of mold and further structural damage. 'It's just sad because a lot of people out here are homeless and stuff and they just leave it out here to get ruined and people could really use that stuff,' said Corinne Murphy. Subscribe Now Still, despite the downpour, people showed up rummaging through wet items, trying to find anything dry or salvageable. This storm is a harsh reminder that recovery takes time and that for thousands of St. Louisans, the crisis is far from over. Right next to the Urban League, a shopping complex that was destroyed in last month's tornado took another hit today. All eyes are now on the city after the recent announcement to allocate $30 million of the Rams settlement money to tornado recovery. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
