2 people killed in Morningside car accident
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Two people have died and another injured in a single car accident in the Morningside area of Sioux City.
The Sioux City Police Department said in a press release, that the Sioux City Fire and Rescue and the Sioux City Police Department were sent to Transit Avenue and South Cecilia in the Morningside area for a vehicle accident.
The press release said, they found a single vehicle crash with a driver and two passengers. Based on a investigation a white 2014 Infiniti QX80 was heading Eastbound on Transit Avenue at a fast speed.
The driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a curb resulting in the car hitting a utility pole and hitting a front porch of a house.
The driver of the car was injured and transported to a hospital. The front seat passenger was pronounced dead on the scene, and the second passenger was transported to a hospital and later died from their injuries.
Names of the individuals involved are not being released at this time.
The incident is still under investigation.

WATCH: Suspect shot at during pursuit in stolen vehicle, Dakota County Sheriff says
SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (KCAU) — A pursuit suspect was shot at during a pursuit in a stolen vehicle Sunday afternoon. According to the Dakota County Sheriff's Office, a pursuit ensued in Dakota County at around 1:45 p.m. on Sunday after the sheriff's office spotted a white Honda Accord in the area of Highway 35 and Highway 110. This vehicle had been spotted by a FLOCK camera and had been involved in a prior eluding incident. A Dakota County Sheriff's Deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, which turned into a pursuit that went through South Sioux City. Officials said that they had attempted to stop the vehicle using spike strips, but the attempt was unsuccessful. Later, spike strips were deployed on the Veteran's Memorial Bridge by the South Sioux City Police Department. After hitting the patrol vehicle, the suspect then drove toward a South Sioux City police officer, who fired a shot from their gun at the suspect vehicle. The suspect made their way into Iowa where they eventually crashed into three other vehicles while trying to wedge their way through a stoplight. In total, the pursuit lasted for about 15 minutes, officials said. The suspect in the pursuit was arrested and identified as Benjamin Horn, of Winnebago, Nebraska. Officials said that the vehicle had been identified as a car that had previously been stolen out of Winnebago two days prior to the incident. Horn is currently being held in the Woodbury County Jail on charges of reckless driving, not having a driver's license, improper use of lanes, and failure to provide security against liability. The release said that he also has a warrant in Nebraska for charges that including felony flight to avoid arrest, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, willfull reckless driving, driving under suspension, and sixty-six counts of traffic violations in connection with the pursuit on the Nebraska side. Omaha man denied new trial, sentenced for deadly rollover near Salix
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — A man found guilty of vehicular homicide and operating a vehicle while intoxicated has been sentenced. The charges stemmed from an incident in February of 2023 when Ashley Bond was killed following a crash near Salix. Officials claimed the vehicle left the road on I-29 and rolled; Bond was ejected from the vehicle, hospitalized, and died. Nebraska woman sentenced to 25 years following 2nd degree murder
WINNEBAGO, Neb. (KCAU) — A Winnebago, Nebraska, woman has been sentenced in federal court after being found guilty of 2nd degree murder. A district judge sentenced 50-year-old Michelle Marr to 25 years in prison for the murder and 20 years for tampering with evidence. The sentences will run at the same time.
