Governor's biography a guiding scripture for new generation: U.P. CM
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said people often see only the peak of success but forget how much struggle went into building that foundation.
Addressing an event in Lucknow where Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar released a book 'Chunautiyan Mujhe Pasand Hain' (I like challenges) chronicling the journey of Uttar Pradesh governor Anandiben Patel, Yogi said, 'This book is like a guiding scripture for the new generation.'
The CM also said Patel's journey from a small village in Gujarat to the governorship of India's largest state was marked by challenges.
He said 'Chunautiyan Mujhe Pasand Hain' illustrates how a woman, through determination and resilience, can rise above social barriers, limited resources, and adversity to become a source of inspiration for the society.
'The book is more than a biography—it's a reflection on life's journey, capturing the triumph of perseverance over hardship,' the CM added.
Praising authors Vinay Joshi, Ashok Desai, and Pankaj Jani, he likened the book's 14 chapters to 'the 14 gems that emerged from the churning of the ocean.'
Calling freedom of expression important for a strong democracy, the CM said books like 'Chunautiyan Mujhe Pasand Hain' strengthen democratic values. 'This book is a complete picture of democracy, struggle, confidence and women empowerment,' he added.

UP govt adds 19L hectares of irrigation capacity with 29 projects in eight years
Lucknow: Reinforcing its commitment to ensuring 'water to every field,' the Yogi Adityanath govt has completed 29 major irrigation projects over the past eight years, significantly expanding irrigation capacity, improving water management, and empowering millions of farmers across Uttar Pradesh. These projects have directly benefited 43,53,850 farmers across the state and led to an increase of 19,11,231 hectares in irrigation capacity. The initiative not only strengthens state's agricultural productivity but also marks a major milestone in flood control and water conservation efforts. Guided by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's vision, Uttar Pradesh has made steady strides in developing irrigation infrastructure. Over the past eight years, seven major irrigation projects were completed—Bansagar Canal Project, Lahchura Dam Project, Pahari Dam Project, Saryu Canal National Project, Arjun Sahayak Canal Project, UP Water Restructuring Project (Phase-II), and Umarhat Pump Project (Phase-II). Together, they have benefited 42,28,355 farmers across 28 districts, increasing irrigation capacity by 18,41,932 hectares. In addition, 16 medium-scale irrigation projects were completed. These include the Utari Dam Project, restoration of Maudaha Dam Canal System, rehabilitation of Pahuj Dam, restoration of Gunta Dam, Jamrar Dam Canal Project, Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Patharai Dam Project, Bhawani Dam Project, Bandai Dam Project, Rasin Dam Project, irrigation facility for 15 villages in Babina Block, restoration of Ghori Canal, completion of Lakheri Dam works, construction of Nahil Barrage and canal restoration in Rampur, feeder channel project for filling Badwar Lake from 45 km of Gursanrai main canal, Kulpahad Sprinkler Project, and the construction of Rohin Barrage in Maharajganj. These medium-scale projects benefitted 97,312 farmers across eight districts, primarily in Bundelkhand, adding 64,104 hectares to the state's irrigation capacity. Six small-scale irrigation projects were also completed, including the restoration of Jakhlon Canal System, Ratouli Weir Project, Masgaon and Chilli Sprinkler Irrigation Project, restoration of Jargo Canal System, rehabilitation of Bakarh-Madihan Feeder Canal, and reconstruction of Birohiya Pickup Weir and restoration of Bharpura Rajbaha, benefitting 28,183 farmers in Lalitpur, Mahoba, Hamirpur, and Mirzapur, with an added 5,195 hectares of irrigation capacity.

CM to inaugurate king Suheldev's memorial in Bahraich on June 10
1 2 Bahraich: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to inaugurate a grand memorial of Maharaja Suheldev – a revered historical figure known for his valour and commitment to protecting the dignity of Hindu culture – during his visit to Bahraich on Tuesday (June 10). Confirming the development, BJP MLC and state vice-president Padmasen Chaudhary said that Maharaja Suheldev, hailed as the 'Hindu Hriday Samrat' (ruler of Hindu hearts), had defeated Sayyid Salar Masud Ghazi, the general of foreign invader Mahmud of Ghazni. "Despite his heroism, Maharaja Suheldev's contributions were long forgotten in the pages of history. To immortalize his legacy of sacrifice and bravery, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has decided to establish a magnificent memorial near Chittaura, in Bahraich district," he said, thanking the CM on behalf of the people of Bahraich. "I had invited the CM for the inauguration, and despite his busy schedule, he graciously accepted the invitation to attend the event on June 10," he said. Chaudhary said that the district administration under DM Monika Rani was making preparations to ensure the success of the programme. Chaudhary urged people to participate in the programme in large numbers and help in placing Bahraich at the forefront of the state's cultural map.

UP to open procurement centres,announce maize MSP soon: CM
Kanpur: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said the govt will open procurement centres for maize and declare the minimum support price (MSP) for the crop soon. Addressing a gathering under 'Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan' at Ajitmal in Auraiya, the CM accused the previous govts at the Centre and in Uttar Pradesh of ignoring welfare of farmers. "For the first time in independent India, farmers became part of the central govt's political agenda in 2014 when Narendra Modi took over as the Prime Minister and several innovative schemes were introduced for their welfare," the CM said. Highlighting a change in agricultural patterns, he said that earlier the farmers in the state were limited to one or two crops, but maize emerged as a profitable third crop, cultivated on over five lakh hectares of land. "Farmers are now earning up to Rs 2.5 lakh per hectare. We assure farmers that we will soon open procurement centres and declare MSP for maize as well," the CM said. He said that under the BJP's double-engine govt, agricultural scientists and experts from Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) were sent from labs to the fields for the first time. Yogi said that before 2014, hardly anyone apart from agricultural scientists knew about soil health cards. "Schemes like the PM's agricultural irrigation scheme and crop insurance were launched. Today, over 12 crore farmers across the country are benefitting from the PM-KISAN scheme," he said. "In UP alone, Rs 85,000 crore has been transferred to the accounts of 2.86 crore farmers so far. Our govt has given jobs to eight lakh youths so far. On June 15, Union home minister Amit Shah will hand over appointment letters to 60,000 personnel recruited in the police force," he added. Highlighting the plight of farmers before the BJP came to power in 2017, he said: "Farmers were committing suicide, sugarcane dues were unpaid, and there were no procurement centres for maize, pulses, oilseeds, potatoes, paddy, or wheat. In 2017, we waived farmers' loans worth Rs 36,000 crore for 86 lakh farmers. We expanded irrigation capacity under the PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana, covering an additional 23 lakh hectares of land. " The govt also provided free electricity for 15 lakh private tube wells of farmers, for which Rs 2,700 crore was paid to the electricity department annually, he said, adding that under the PM Kusum Yojana, more than one lakh farmers had received solar panels. He said that under the SP govt, law and order had deteriorated, and recruitments were marred by nepotism. "Back then, gangsters ruled, women and traders were unsafe, and recruitments were controlled by 'uncle and nephew'," he alleged. He said that the BJP govt recruited over 1.6 lakh teachers and asserted that hiring in various departments including PWD, irrigation and agriculture was done with complete transparency. "It's been a long time since Auraiya became a district. There was no police lines here, therefore, the facility is being constructed at a cost of Rs 272 crore. A bridge is being built over the Yamuna River for Rs 151 crore. A CM model composite school is also being constructed. Budgets have been allocated for agricultural science centre," he said. He said the One District, One Product (ODOP) initiative connected two crore youths to self-employment, while 65 lakh youths secured employment through investments. He cited the destruction of temple in Kashi by Aurangzeb and its restoration by Ahilyabai, explaining the renaming of Auraiya University in her honour. Agriculture minister Surya Pratap Shahi and minister of state Baldev Singh Aulakh were present. Earlier, the CM conducted an aerial assessment of maize cultivation in Auraiya, Kannauj, Etawah, and Kanpur Dehat.
