RIKAS Hospitality Group launches new booking app
You can't really call yourself a Dubai foodie if you haven't dined at a RIKAS Hospitality Group restaurant. They are the team behind some of the most iconic dining destinations in Dubai, each bringing a different experience to the culinary scene.
Regular, more experienced diners are well aware of how busy these restaurants can be, and book well in advance to secure their coveted tables.
As with every other table reservation – calling or emailing the restaurant can be quite tasking, especially given our busy schedules. However, RIKAS Hospitality Group has made the process a lot easier, with the launch of their very own app: RIKAS app.
The RIKAS app is an all-new digital tool that will make it a whole lot easier for guests to make their bookings. Through the app, the hospitality group stated that the RIKAS journey is elevated 'from the very first interaction – even before guests set foot in any of its venues.'

The app will allow guests to explore the RIKAS portfolio, access information about each of the venues, and get reservations booked with ease. So, whether you're a new or a loyal customer – this is the app for you. In case you're wondering, yes – you will be able to make real-time availability checks.
The app will also give those who sign up priority access to exclusive events across all RIKAS venues. If there's a new ladies night launching at Gigi Rigolatto, a drinks' deal at Mimi Kakushi, or an unmissable event at Twiggy – you will be one of the first to know.
The loyalty and rewards program will allow you to earn exclusive perks, priority reservations, and special offers. It also offers referral and sponsorship credits, allowing users to share benefits with friends and family. Score!

Apple's AI push to feature robotic operating systems
Apple, in a bid to close the gap on its rivals, is planning to up its AI output by launching multiple new devices including a tabletop robot equipped with an updated version of Siri. Bloomberg reported Apple's tabletop robot is the centrepiece of the tech giant's evolving AI strategy. The robot is scheduled for a launch or unveiling in 2027 and will include a new version of the Siri voice assistant which can take part in conversations between multiple people. The news agency reported the 'robot resembles an iPad mounted on a moveable limb' to allow it to swivel towards speakers in a room. It could also include FaceTime calls which allows the robot to face people when they speak, with iPhone remote control functions also reportedly being trialled. Bloomberg reported the robot is being designed to interact with users by contributing to conversations or suggesting restaurants. Apple is using OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini AI models to build and test features during the robot's development. A revamped Siri is part of the robot's operating system, designed to give it a personality to appear more lifelike. Sound and vision The news agency reported a smart speaker with a display could be available in 2026 as part of Apple's move into entry-level smart home products. Bloomberg's unnamed sources also said Apple is developing cameras for its own security system which can automate household functions. In addition to boosting Apple's AI capabilities, the products are being developed to make its 'product ecosystem stickier with consumers', the news agency explained. Apple's engineers are also developing new version of Siri, codenamed Linwood, which is being built on generative AI large language models. Bloomberg reported it is based on technology developed by the Apple Foundation Models team. The new Siri software could be released in the first half of 2026 along with a redesigned assistant for iPhones and iPads. Bloomberg reported Apple's approach to AI-enabled hardware could change going forward and noted it is dependent on continued progress of its related software. Musk threatens to sue Apple over xAI App Store ranking
Elon Musk has stated his xAI company will sue Apple for allegedly favouring their competitors in its App Store in what he called an antitrust breach. In a series of posts on X, a social media platform he owns, he accused Apple of only allowing xAI rival OpenAI's ChatGPT to claim the top spot in its rankings for mobile applications, and said his AI company would take 'immediate legal action.' 'Apple is behaving in a manner that makes it impossible for any AI company besides OpenAI to reach #1 in the App Store, which is an unequivocal antitrust violation,' he wrote. Grok, xAI's AI model, currently ranks 6th in the App Store's 'Top Free Apps' section for iPhones in the United States, while ChatGPT tops the list. 'Hey @Apple App Store, why do you refuse to put either X or Grok in your 'Must Have' section when X is the #1 news app in the world…Are you playing politics? What gives?' he wrote in a pinned post. CNN has reached out to xAI, Apple and OpenAI for comment. 'Apple's App Store curation appears biased, favouring established AI like ChatGPT (overall) over innovative challengers,' Grok wrote in a post on X, which was reposted by Musk. 'Editorial picks may reflect caution toward xAI's unfiltered style, but this stifles competition. Truth matters more than politics,' it wrote. Neither Grok nor Musk provided evidence to their claims. In June 2024, Apple partnered with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT services into its devices. In response, Musk threatened to ban Apple devices at his companies, including X, Tesla and SpaceX. It was unclear if he ultimately followed through. This is not the first time Apple's App Store operations has faced legal challenges. In April, a federal judge in California ruled the iPhone maker had violated a court order to reform its App Store for greater competition in app downloads and payment methods. The order stemmed from a high-profile antitrust suit in 2021 filed by the maker of the hit video game Fortnite, Epic Games, over Apple's monopoly on the distribution of IOS apps. The court then found Apple violated a California competition law and ordered the company to allow developers more freedom to direct users to alternative payment options. In a separate case in April, the European Commission fined Apple €500million ($570 million) for breaching a digital competition law by restricting app developers from steering users toward cheaper options outside the App Store.
