Lashkar-e-Taiba prison radicalisation case: NIA arrests central jail psychiatrist, 2 more from Karnataka
According to NIA, searches were conducted at five locations in Bengaluru and Kolar districts of the state which lead to the 'arrest of Dr Nagaraj, Psychiatrist, Central Prison, Parappana Agrahara, Bengaluru, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) ASI Chan Pasha, and Anees Fathima, mother of an absconding accused.'
The investigation agency also found various digital devices, cash, gold and incriminating documents during the searches at the accused's houses.
'The case RC-28/2023/NIA/DLI relates to the recovery of arms, ammunition, explosives and digital devices, including two walkie-talkies, from habitual offenders who were conspiring to unleash terror activities in Bengaluru city with the aim of furthering the nefarious agenda of the proscribed terrorist organization LeT,' the NIA said.
The Central agency said that the psychiatrist was smuggling mobile phones to inmates including Tadiyandaveed Naseer @ T Naseer, a life-time convict lodged in terror cases in Central Prison, Bengaluru. 'Besides houses of Nagaraj and Pavithra, NIA also searched the house of Anees Fathima, mother of absconder Junaid Ahmed and involved in passing instructions from Naseer to her son for raising funds and handing over the same to T Naseer in prison,' it said.
'As per NIA investigations, ASI Chan Pasha had, in 2022, been involved in passing information related to T Naseer's escort from prison to various courts in exchange of money.'
In the 2023 LeT prison radicalisation case, the NIA has already chargesheeted nine accused. They include absconder 'Junaid Ahmed, under various sections of IPC and UA(P) Act, Arms Act and Explosive Substances Act in the case. Investigations and efforts to track the absconder are continuing.'

Minister's family running dance bar under mother's name gives up licence
Mumbai: Following allegations that the minister of state for home, Yogesh Kadam, was running a dance bar with a licence in his mother's name, the Kadam family reportedly surrendered the orchestra licence of Savali bar in Kandivli on Friday. Shiv Sena (UBT) MLC Anil Parab criticised the licence surrender, stating it proves his allegations were right and that a dance bar with immoral activities was being operated by the Kadam family for years. Demanding Kadam's resignation, Parab argued that just because a thief returns stolen goods, he cannot be let off. "Yogesh Kadam must resign on moral grounds, but it seems the CM is helpless and can't take action against him. 3 cops dismissed for raping minor girl in 2023
Trichy: A police sub-inspector and two constables have been dismissed from service for sexually assaulting a minor girl in Trichy in 2023. The action has been taken after the allegations, such as sexual assault, pornography, and criminal intimidation of the survivor, were proven in a department inquiry. The dismissed cops were B Sasikumar (sub-inspector, Jeeyapuram station) and constables J Prasad (Navalpat station) and A Sitharthan (Jeeyapuram traffic police station), according to an order issued by Trichy range DIG V Varun Kumar. Action is pending against constable S Sankar Rajapandian, who has also been accused of smuggling ganja near Adirampattinam in Thanjavur district. On the evening of Oct 4, 2023, the four of them, dressed in plain clothes and in an inebriated condition, visited Mukkombu park. They saw some couples and began harassing them. Among them was a 17-year-old girl and her 19-year-old male friend. Constables Prasath and Siddharth beat the male youth and drove him away. The group then took the girl to their vehicle, where sub-inspector Sasikumar and Sankar Rajapandiyan sexually assaulted her for an hour. They also recorded their acts on their mobile. Police stopped a car in which Sasikumar and others attempted to leave, and questioned them. Sasikumar told the cops on duty that he and others had only inquired about the girl on suspicion. The outpost personnel informed Varun Kumar, who was earlier Trichy's superintendent of police. Varun Kumar conducted an initial inquiry and suspended the four policemen. A case was registered at Jeeyapuram All Women Police Station and the policemen were booked under IPC sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (wrongful confinement), 506-i (criminal intimidation), and 67(B)(b) of the IT Act (recording child pornography). The accused were also booked under several sections of Pocso Act including 9(a) (i) (iii) (iv) (aggravated penetrative sexual assault), 9 (g) (gang sexual assault),10 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault), 17 (abetment), 13 (c) (obscene representation) and 14(5) (participation in child pornographic act). State sends ASI to probe worker's death in Pune
1 2 Jalpaiguri: The death of a 27-year-old man from Ambari in Jalpaiguri's Raiganj in Pune last week under mysterious circumstances has prompted a probe by the Bengal govt. The deceased, Dipu Das, used to work as a daily wage labourer. On July 29, his brothers, Gouranga and Apu, called him on the phone to inform Das that his mother had passed away on July 28, only to realise that Das had too had died the same day. The agency with which Dipu worked in Pune said he fell down under the influence of alcohol and was admitted to BJ Government Medical College and Sassoon General Hospital after the fall, but succumbed to his injuries. The death certificate issued by the hospital stated "complications following spinal cord injuries" as cause of death. Acting on the govt's instructions, ASI Binod Ram from Bhorer Alo police outpost flew down to Pune from Bagdogra with Dipu's brothers. Sources said the ASI will coordinate with Pune cops and check if there was any discrepancy.
