AEW Star Mariah May Reportedly Nearing the End of Her Contract
Former AEW Women's World Champion Mariah May, who lost her title to Toni Storm, is reportedly nearing the end of her current contract. Mariah May and Toni Storm delivered one of AEW's most compelling storylines in recent history.
This rivalry began last summer when Mariah May betrayed Toni Storm, leading to a high-stakes match at AEW All In. At the show, May defeated Storm to capture the AEW Women's Championship. Shortly after, Storm took a hiatus but returned in December on AEW Dynamite: Winter Is Coming.
Instead of confronting Mariah May immediately, Toni Storm revived her rockstar persona, pretending she had never wrestled in AEW before. After earning a title shot against May at AEW Grand Slam: Australia, Storm revealed that she hadn't forgotten anything, proving her actions were all part of a long-term strategy.
At AEW Grand Slam: Australia, Storm defeated Mariah May to become the first-ever four-time Women's World Champion. After losing the title, May challenged Storm to a rematch at AEW Revolution but failed to reclaim the championship. Since then, May has remained absent from television.

Amid her absence, recent reports have provided an update on Mariah May's contract status, revealing that it is set to expire this upcoming summer, leaving fans speculating about her future.
According to Fightful Select (behind a paywall), many backstage within AEW believe that Mariah May's contract will expire this summer. Although details about potential option years or extensions remain unclear, a source revealed they would be shocked if May's deal was short-term, given the significant recent push the promotion has given her.
With May's rise in the women's main event scene and her growing status, reports indicate that AEW aims to retain her. Word of her contract status has also circulated internally within the promotion.

As Mariah May's contract approaches its summer expiration, Tony Khan will likely make an effort to re-sign her. The situation remains intriguing, as she may explore other opportunities or pursue a potential deal with WWE. Only time will reveal her next move.

Ricky Saints Confirms Current NXT Star Is Also Working As A Coach In WWE
Ricky Saints is learning quite a bit in NXT. WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard spoke with Saints at WrestleMania Media Day about his journey to NXT. Saints may be new to WWE. However, he has more than a decade of experience in the wrestling business, including stops in the NWA and AEW. When asked if there's a match that gives WWE fans a good idea of who he is as a performer, he had two in mind. Advertisement 'Maybe the one in NXT would be when I won the [NXT North American] title [from Shawn Spears in April 2025]. That'd be a top one,' Saints said. 'Anything beyond that, me versus Bryan Danielson for sure.' Saints, as Ricky Starks, competed in two singles matches against Bryan Danielson in AEW. They first squared off in a No Disqualification Strap Match at All Out 2023, and later had a brutal Texas Death Match on the September 23, 2023, episode of AEW Collision. Ricky Saints confirms Shawn Spears is coaching in NXT Ricky Saints was also asked if there was anyone in WWE that became a positive influence that he perhaps wasn't expecting to learn from. Saints disagreed with the sentiment and said everyone he's worked with has taught him a lot, including Shawn Spears. Advertisement 'No, because I feel like that discredits them,' Saints explained. 'Every person that has come to me and talked to me — Terry Taylor, Fit Finlay, Matt Bloom — have been nothing but a wealth of knowledge. Shawn Spears also is a coach there and is very knowledgeable once you listen. For all his faults, he does have some good knowledge as well.' Saints agreed that Spears might be underappreciated by some. Fans have gotten a better look at what Spears offers in his return to NXT. Spears continues to wrestle in NXT too, as a member of The Culling stable. His last match was a six-man tag team match at WWE Battleground 2025. Zelina Vega Debunks Rumor That She Has Heat With This AEW Star
Zelina Vega is clearing the air over the belief that she has heat with a top star in AEW. WWE Women's United States Champion Zelina Vega was a recent guest on Ring The Belle. When asked about the rumors that she has heat with TBS Champion Mercedes Moné, Vega said that the two never had any beef. Advertisement 'So when it comes to me and Mercedes, we never had any beef,' Zelina Vega said. 'That's what's so funny. Back in the day, I had done an interview, which I remember talking to Naomi about this a long, long time ago. I was like, it'd be really cool to get, cause I had known her prior for a while. 'So it was like, to get into, like, a thing with her. Like, hopefully we can get into something and WWE. Like, my brain was, I need to get to WWE any way possible. She's one of the top girls. I want to get in the ring with her she's dope, I want to do this. She was cool with it. People use that clip as, like, oh, my God, they've had beef for forever, blah, blah, blah, and I'm like, I love that I convinced you all of that. I love that for me. 'But no none of us have ever had any beef. It's so funny to me that I'm the common denominator between all of the beef, apparently. I'm just like, well. She trains with my cousin. Like, what? They're trying to find any little thing. Like, if I genuinely hated somebody, do you think I'd be cool with that?' Peacock Cancels Five Shows
The streaming platform Peacock, much like the other major streaming services, has to make touch decisions when curating its streaming library. Unfortunately, these decisions aren't always taken easily by fans, and many subscribers are devastated by the recent decision by Peacock to cancel as many as five shows from their platform. As you can see below, many of the complaints shared on social media feel as though Peacock didn't properly market these original shows. Therefore, they claim Peacock itself is to blame for the poor viewership numbers, while other fans are simply disappointed to have these shows end with cliffhangers and unfinished storylines. It's the abrupt cancellations of shows that lead to these unfinished narratives, and as such, it's understandable why fans are frustrated. After all, it's disappointing when you choose to invest your time into a series only to find that there's no payoff by the end. Nevertheless, that's the case with two of the five cancellations that can be traced back to April, the horror-thriller shows Teacup and Hysteria! with each having only lasted a single season. Other cancellations more recently announced by the platform include Mr. Throwback , Based on a True Story , and Laid . In fact, the decision to cancel Laid in particular has sparked some strong backlash online, with fans sharing the following reactions on X: This was a lovely show. They did no promotions btw — Mr. Sushi (@Barasimgha) May 30, 2025 @peacock oh my God, you guys canceled #BasedOnATrueStory WHAT THE hell is wrong with you?!? 🤬 and I got all excited about #Laid haven't even had a chance to enjoy it yet AND just read you guys canceled that too?! WHAT THE FVCK YOU SUCK!! — Estefany Bella (@Stephanie808831) June 5, 2025 I really loved Laid (on Peacock) and I'm so sad it's canceled 🥲 — Lauren Milberger (@LaurenMilberger) June 2, 2025 Another case of original ideas being ignored to the point of letting them rot and die. — Hollowfox (@HollowfoxAlt) May 29, 2025 Cancellations are without a doubt one of the pieces of television or streaming that no one wants to encounter. Unfortunately, due to the business side of things, these cancellations are inevitable. It doesn't make it any easier, however, when the shows are still canceled without proper conclusions or, at the very least, a marketing campaign that tries to make continuing these shows a worthwhile effort. Ultimately, we'll have to see if Peacock continues to make decisions in this manner or if they'll try to make some of these cancellations easier on fans and subscribers. Are for now, however, it looks like Teacup , Hysteria! , Mr. Throwback , Based on a True Story , and Laid have all come to an abrupt end.
