Logan Paul seriously wanted to fight on the undercard at the Sphere for Noche UFC. Paul says UFC CEO Dana White ignored him, and he thinks he knows why.
On a recent episode of Paul's podcast, Impaulsive, he discussed the relationship between his brother Jake Paul and UFC CEO Dana White, but he also made mention of his desire to fight in the UFC.
'I told Dana for UFC 300, I texted him, like, 'Hey man, consider me available to fight on the undercard in the Sphere (Noche UFC),'' Paul said to his guest, current interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall. 'He basically ignored me, which I think spoke volumes. I haven't hit him about it since. But you know, I think for the right fight and the right amount of money... like, man, I'm an entertainer at the end of the day.'
Aspinall asked Paul if he followed the 'CM Punk saga.'
"He f##### it up," Paul said. 'He f##### it up and Dana was like, 'I'm never doing this again.' But like, dude, I'm not CM Punk. He's a great wrestler, but not a great UFC fighter. I think I would be a much better UFC fighter than I am a boxer.'
Here is a look at the entire episode.
For those who are unaware, CM Punk embarked on a side quest so massive that it might only be topped by the career Jake Paul has carved out for himself in boxing, or what Michael Jordan did from 1993–1995 when he retired from the NBA and pursued a career with Major League Baseball.
Punk stepped away from WWE and professional wrestling in 2014 while he healed up from a myriad of injuries. In December 2014, he signed a multi-fight deal with the UFC and made his debut in the Octagon in September 2016 against Mickey Gall.

Gall quickly submitted Punk in the first round to hand the WWE legend the loss. Punk's second fight happened in June 2018 when he lost via unanimous decision to Mike Jackson. The result of the fight was changed to a no contest when it was revealed Jackson tested positive for marijuana.

Yes, that is peculiar.
Nonetheless, Punk had two very unsuccessful, farcical moments in the Octagon, so there could be some credence to Paul's thought that White wanted nothing else to do with a crossover fight from a WWE Superstar.
To add a little more interest to this story, Punk and Paul have been rivals here and there with the WWE, so the scripted friction spices things up a little.
As Aspinall mentioned, Paul is twice the athlete Punk is, and he's significantly younger. Paul is 29, and Punk was 37 years old when he lost to Gall. Even with more athleticism and youth on his side, Paul knows he wouldn't be able to dedicate the time necessary to contend or fight dedicated mixed martial artists.
As he mentioned, he would target people with similar or no MMA experience who also have a big name. Paul repeatedly said he is a full-time WWE Superstar and feels at home, but you could tell that if the right opportunity presented itself, he'd train and hop in the Octagon to check another box off his insane list of life accomplishments.

Amanda Nunes Unretires to Pursue Title, ‘I'm Going To Be Ready'

(Photo by Josh Hedges/Zuffa LLC/Zuffa LLC via Getty Images) The rumors, teases, and unofficial statements are over. Recently announced UFC Hall-of-Famer Amanda Nunes is returning to the Octagon, and her plan is to challenge the winner of the UFC 316 co-main event to regain her women's bantamweight title. In a Q&A with ESPN's Brett Okamoto on Friday, the eve of UFC 316, Nunes said, "I missed [fighting] so much," Nunes said on Friday. "My baby is big now. She didn't sleep much at night [as a baby] and I was concerned about that because we fighters need sleep. But now, my baby is bigger and I'm ready to go. Kayla [Harrison] or Julianna [Peña], I'm going to be ready." Nunes retired in June 2023 following a successful title defense against Irene Aldana, but many believed she may have been walking away from the sport prematurely. UFC CEO Dana White has made it clear he thought Nunes left too soon. VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA - JUNE 10: Amanda Nunes of Brazil announces her retirement after her ... (Photo by Jeff Bottari/Zuffa LLC) Nunes is unquestionably the greatest female fighter of all time and one of the best ever regardless of gender. Currently, Nunes has a record of 23-5, and that mark includes an unprecedented run as the UFC's bantamweight and featherweight champion. From March 2015 through 2023, Nunes went 14-1, including a 12-fight win streak. Nunes' lone loss during her dominant stretch came against Peña. The current champion defeated Nunes via second-round submission at UFC 269 to win the title. Nunes regained the title with a unanimous decision victory in their rematch. Peña wanted a trilogy fight and notoriously booed Nunes as the latter placed her gloves in the center of the Octagon back in 2023 when the Lioness walked away from the sport. As it turns out, Peña could get another crack at her rival. She has a massive test on her hands on Saturday in New Jersey. Harrison, an Olympic gold medalist and former Professional Fighters League champion, is vying to become the first woman to win titles with both organizations. Harrison has been pretty dominant in her two fights in the UFC, with a stoppage win over Holly Holm and a unanimous decision victory over Ketlen Vieira to earn the title shot. Harrison's biggest issues have seemingly been just making weight. She's never missed weight, but has looked worse for wear each time. Friday was no exception, as the world-class athlete looked massively depleted on the scales but rejuvenated later that evening during the ceremonial weigh-ins. It wouldn't be a shock to see Nunes vs. the winner scheduled for the November pay-per-view in New York. Here is a look at the entire UFC 316 card.

Seth Rollins comes up with a new nickname for Jacob Fatu

Tonight's (June 6) episode of SmackDown kicked off with Seth Rollins cutting a promo in the ring (accompanied by Bronson Reed, Bron Breakker, and Paul Heyman) where he said he will take full control of WWE when he wins the Money in the Bank ladder match this weekend. Rollins spent some time early on addressing Roman Reigns' latest absence from WWE, perhaps foreshadowing an imminent return for the OTC. But the meat of the segment involved Solo Sikoa, JC Mateo, and Jacob Fatu coming out to confront Seth and his crew after Rollins said nobody can stand up to them. Advertisement Solo picked apart Seth's new stable as Bloodline wannabes, going so far as to say Bronson Reed must be their Honorary Uce. Rollins fired back by leaning into the current tension between Solo and Jacob. He wondered why Jacob was so quiet, and said maybe his 'Samoan Werewolf' nickname should be replaced by a more accurate one: 'Solo's bitch.' Those are fightin' words, and it quickly led to another staredown between Fatu and Breakker. Seth pulled Bron out of there before things could escalate, but you know that's a major match that's happening sometime down the line. UFC 316's Waldo Cortes-Acosta plans Serghei Spivac KO, enter heavyweight title contention

Waldo Cortes-Acosta feels he's on the cusp of title contention, and it's hard to disagree. The Dominican heavyweight has quietly put together an impressive run in the UFC, picking up six wins in the seven fights he's had since joining the promotion. These victories include two knockouts, and several notable names such as Ryan Spann, Robelis Despaigne, Chase Sherman and former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski. Advertisement This Saturday at UFC 316, Cortes-Acosta (13-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) looks to continue to bolster that resume and go on a five-fight winning streak when he takes on top-10 ranked heavyweight Serghei Spivac. He thinks a win over Spivac (17-5 MMA, 8-5 UFC) will open up big opportunities for him in the division. "Yeah, I do feel the attention and the importance of the event," Cortes-Acosta told Hablemos MMA in Spanish. "This fight can push me, can catapult me to the top, and put me in the title conversation. Maybe I win this one, one more after that, and I'm ready for a title shot, God willing." Cortes-Acosta has his path to victory mapped out for Spivac. Avoid the ground game and keep the fight in his realm. "I see it as a striker vs. wrestler," Cortes-Acosta said. "I don't think he has the hands to match me in the octagon. Like I've said, every fight I'm evolving. I never stop evolving. I feel stronger and I'm heavier now." Advertisement There are high expectations for Cortes-Acosta in this matchup. He sees himself finishing the "Polar Bear" "I expect the knockout," Waldo-Acosta said. "Come Saturday, I'll be knocking on the door, and it will be opened."
