James Gunn recalls how he had to tell
Henry
about the recast
Gunn recently got candid about what all went down while casting for the new 'Superman' film, which has been well-received by the public ever since its release. During a new episode of the podcast 'Happy Sad Confused',
Josh Horowitz
recalled how the news of Henry being back for the role came on the very day that they closed the deal in his studios.
At the time, there had been a lot of confusion amongst fans of the film, as after his cameo in 'Black Adam', the actor had released an official video saying, 'I wanted to make it official — I am back as Superman'.
The blunder happened then, two months later, Cavill shared that he would no longer be taking on the role of the beloved superhero.
James talks about Henry's reaction to the news
The 'Guardians of the Galaxy' writer shared during the podcast that after finding out about Henry's return, they were shocked. He delved into how they thought it was fair to inform the actor about the news face-to-face as well.
'That was really unfortunate, I'm like, this poor guy. And so Peter [Safran] and I knew the right thing to do was to sit down with [Cavill] and talk to him.
And we sat down, we talked to him, he was an absolute gentleman, a great guy about it. He said, 'The only thing I ask is that I'm able to reveal it myself as opposed to it coming from you guys'', Gunn shared.
He even called the whole ordeal unfair to Cavill, and stated 'wanted to take on what they wanted to do at DC and were trying to force their way, and it just was never a part of the equation'.
Will Henry Cavill return to the world of superheroes?
While fans of Cavill were disappointed to see him no longer be the beloved 'Superman', there is still a possibility that the actor might make his return to the multiverse! During the podcast, the host asked about how everything would be if Henry were cast in another role.
Gunn replied with enthusiasm, saying, 'No, as another character? Absolutely not. I talked to him about it on that day. I would love to put Henry in something'.

Vanessa Kirby Loved Shooting Avengers: Doomsday While Pregnant: 'Been The Coolest Thing'
Vanessa recently claimed that playing Sue Storm in the new Fantastic Four movie has prepared her for motherhood. Vanessa Kirby found filming an Avengers movie while pregnant to be the 'coolest thing". The 37-year-old actress is currently expecting her first child with Paul Rabil, and Vanessa has revealed that she relished the experience of filming Avengers: Doomsday while pregnant. During an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Vanessa shared: 'As you know, I'm pregnant and it's been the coolest thing to be shooting an Avengers movie while pregnant." Vanessa also praised Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and directors Anthony and Joe Russo for helping her to navigate the challenge of shooting the new movie while carrying her unborn baby. The film star said: " [The Russo brothers, the film's directors] been utterly amazing. The Russos and Kevin, and the whole team. It's been very cool to do that." Vanessa debuted her growing baby bump during a red carpet appearance in May. And the actress recently discussed the difference between her real baby bump and using a fake belly for her role in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Speaking on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Vanessa shared: 'I honestly think a lot of people think it's a stunt of some kind. It's just crazy timing. Essentially, the fake belly is like a foam thing. When it's a foam, it feels very light and a bit silly. So I kept saying to Flick, who looks after my costume, 'I want more. It needs to be heavier.' So we would try all these different things, and eventually she kind of put heavy rice packets in the belly, and it got so heavy, [and] I got a really bad backache. And actually it's nothing like this. This is … way lighter. So, I gave myself a backache for no reason at all." Meanwhile, Vanessa recently claimed that playing Sue Storm in the new Fantastic Four movie has prepared her for motherhood. Speaking about her character's pregnancy, Vanessa told People: 'Sue was never sat down. She was never huffing and puffing about it." The actress also admitted that she was 'changed" by the experience of starring in the Fantastic Four film. Vanessa – who made her relationship with Paul, a retired lacrosse player, Instagram official in 2023 – told People: 'She was absolutely a mother, and of course, in the comics, that's so definitively her. But she's also been a team member that defends, that goes up against great threats. I literally had the lived experience of somebody who was doing this incredibly sacred thing and fulfilling what she needed to do at the same time as a woman and a team member, and that changed me." Marvel's The Fantastic Four First Steps leaked online: Pedro Pascal-led superhero saga hit by piracy
Marvel's The Fantastic Four First Steps, starring Pedro Pascal, hit the screens on July 25 and opened to a decent response at the Indian box office. According to Sacnilk, a trade website, the biggie earned Rs 5.1 crore on Friday. It also received positive reviews. The Fantastic Four First Steps has now been leaked online. This has sent shockwaves through the entertainment fraternity. Marvel's The Fantastic Four First Steps leaked online Pedro Pascal is in the limelight because of his latest film The Fantastic Four First Steps, which stormed into theatres yesterday. In the latest development, the Marvel movie has been hit by piracy. According to reports, pirated copies of the superhero saga have gone viral on torrent websites such as Movierulz and Filmyzilla. Moreover, reports state that terms such as 'The Fantastic Four First Steps watch online' and 'The Fantastic Four First Steps Movierulz' are among the trending searches. Piracy is one of the biggest challenges facing the film industry. Previously, titles such as Superman and F1 were leaked shortly after their release. Piracy affects the box office performance of the films in question. It also reduces the impact of the efforts put in by those from the industry. Additionally, those who download pirated copies expose themselves to malware and legal issues. Fans should, therefore, stick to legal means to watch The Fantastic Four First Steps and refrain from accessing websites such as Filmyzilla and Movierulz. About The Fantastic Four First Steps The film introduces Marvel's iconic superhero family to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in an unconventional new setting—an alternate 1960s Earth. The story revolves around the team of Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn), and Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they try to eliminate a cosmic threat from the seemingly unstoppable antagonist Galactus and his powerful aide, Shalla-Bal (Julia Garner), a fresh take on Silver Surfer. Directed by Matt Shakman, The Fantastic Four First Steps blends retro sci-fi aesthetics with an emotionally gripping narrative. It is the 37th film in the MCU and the first one after Thunderbolts. The film is edited by Nona Khodai and Tim Roche. Jess Hall serves as the cinematographer.
