Search for something that's in the news. Tap the little icon to the right of Top Stories. Search and select your preferred sources. Refresh your results and enjoy more from the sites you like.
It is actually pretty easy to set up your preferred sources. | Image credit – Google
Once you've picked your sources, you'll see them more often in Top Stories or even in a special 'From your sources' section. You'll still get results from other outlets, and you can change your picks anytime. You can also add as many sources as you want. And if you tried this back when it was in Labs, your old choices will carry over automatically.

Will you use Google's Preferred Sources to control what news you see in Search?
Absolutely, I want more content I actually care about.
Maybe, I'll try it but still check other sources.
Probably not, I like seeing a mix of outlets.
No way, I don't trust curated news.

On paper, Preferred Sources sounds like a win – fewer spammy or low-effort sites, more of the content you actually care about, and Search results that feel way more relevant.
But here's the thing: if you only read from your favorites, how do you know you're getting the full story? Sure, it's nice to stick to sources you trust, but if everyone filters out perspectives they don't agree with, we risk living in our own little news bubbles.

Google Messages is slowly taking over Samsung and Pixel users' screens

A new Google Messages bug has popped up, and while it's mostly harmless, it's kind of bug has replicated the Google Messages icon, so there are now two app icons in the app launcher's suggestions and app drawer. The two icons are located next to each other, and either one of them can be used to launch the application. Interestingly, the app icon doesn't appear twice on the home screens and in search problem affects the Google Messages beta version 20250811_03_RC00 and has shown up on Pixel and Samsung devices. The code sleuths over at Android Authority dug deep into the problem and found out what was happening. Apparently, this is a result of duplicate declarations by Google, tricking the system into thinking that there are two apps to display, even though both icons open Google Messages. The Google Messages icon was duplicated after the latest beta update. | Image Credit - Android Authority A couple of users who uninstalled and reinstalled the app are now stuck with three icons. One user exited the beta and uninstalled updates, and the extra icon disappeared. —ImrozChauhan, Reddit user, August 2025 This looks like a harmless bug and doesn't appear to impact the app's functionality in any way. Google will likely eradicate the bug with the next update, but for those who don't like a cluttered interface and are very particular about how their app drawers look, it's surely a the downside of enrolling in beta programs, though, and usually, people who sign up for them are used to problems like you can't stand it, you may want to revert to the stable version of the Google Messages app. Google regularly ships new features to its messaging app, and the updates sometimes introduce bugs. For instance, earlier this month, the beta version was plagued with a bug that caused it to crash. Like we said, this is a part of the beta experience, and if you want more stability, the beta program might not be for you.

Best Buy is selling the glorious Google Pixel 9 Pro at an unbelievable $400 discount

As if Google's mission to build buzz around next week's Pixel 10 series launch event was not made difficult enough by the repetitive designs and specs of the "new" phones and the rumored delay of the family's most exciting member, Amazon and Best Buy are for some reason making it rain this week with killer Pixel 9 series deals. Mere hours after spotting the Pixel 9 Pro Fold at an unprecedented $600 discount, I'm here to recommend you consider the Pixel 9 Pro at 400 bucks under its list price as well. Obviously, this is a totally different device aimed at a different audience, with just one screen in tow that's incredibly the same size as the 9 Pro Fold's secondary display. 5G, Unlocked, 128GB Storage, 16GB RAM, Android 14, Google Tensor G4 Processor, 6.3-Inch LTPO OLED Display with 2856 x 1280 Pixel Resolution and 120Hz Refresh Rate Technology, 50 + 48 +48MP Triple Rear-Facing Camera System, 42MP Front-Facing Camera, Gemini Integration, 4,700mAh Battery, Obsidian Color Buy at BestBuy Of course, the resolution and peak brightness are both higher on the non-Fold Pixel 9 Pro , which only costs $599 after that aforementioned $400 markdown, making the Pixel 9 Pro Fold feel overpriced once again. In case you're wondering, this handset has never been this affordable before, and yes, that includes Amazon's member-exclusive Prime Day sales event last month. And no, you don't have to meet any special conditions whatsoever right now to maximize your savings. What you may need to do is hurry, as you're obviously looking at a single 128GB storage variant sold for a whopping $400 less than usual, and perhaps even more notably, a single Obsidian colorway as well. That almost certainly means that Best Buy will run out of inventory pretty quickly for a very simple reason. The Pixel 9 Pro is relatively small, but also extremely powerful, sharp, and stylish. | Image Credit -- PhoneArena This is an absolutely unbeatable value proposition at the time of this writing, and the thing that will probably drive that point home in the best way is our comprehensive Pixel 9 Pro review from last year calling the 6.3-inch Tensor G4 powerhouse the "dream compact phone." I just can't think of a compact device capable of matching this bad boy's raw speed, camera performance, screen quality, battery life, long-term software support, and affordability, and while the Pixel 10 Pro is virtually guaranteed to bring some upgrades to the table next week, those are unlikely to be very impressive... and the price point is likely to be quite hard to stomach at launch. Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold to offer Qi2 wireless charging support

The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is shaping up to be a decent upgrade over its predecessor. Google's upcoming foldable is rumored to offer a larger cover screen, larger battery, and better durability. A tipster has now revealed another feature coming to the Google foldable. According to tipster Evan Blass, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will support Qi2 wireless charging. This means that the foldable could feature magnets on the back and work with the rumored Pixelsnap magnetic charger. The tipster also reiterates that Google will not launch the Pixel 10 Pro Fold alongside the other Pixel 10 series phones. It will be available for purchase at a later date, on October 9 to be precise. The Pixel Watch 4 and Buds 2a will also be released on the same date. Google's Pixel 10 Pro Fold is rumored to be slightly thicker and heavier than the current 9 Pro Fold. This is likely because of the larger battery and the inclusion of magnets for Qi2 charging. The upcoming foldable is expected to pack a 5,015 mAh battery, 6.4-inch outer screen, and the Tensor G5 SoC. Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold The Pixel 10 Pro Fold will be unveiled on August 20 at a Made by Google event. Source
