SpiceJet has officially commenced its Haj 2025 operations with the first flight departing from Gaya to Medina, signaling the start of the sacred pilgrimage for thousands of Indian Muslims. The airline plans to operate a total of 45 flights in the first phase, connecting cities including Gaya, Srinagar, Guwahati, and Kolkata to Medina and Jeddah.
To support the scale of operations, SpiceJet has inducted two Airbus A340 wide-body aircraft, each with a capacity of 324 passengers. These jets will serve high-demand routes from Srinagar and Guwahati to Medina, and from Kolkata to Jeddah. The Gaya-Medina route will be served by a 189-seater Boeing 737.
The current phase will run until May 29, 2025, with return operations scheduled between June 13 and July 11, 2025. SpiceJet expects to transport around 15,500 pilgrims this year, marking an 18% increase from the 13,000 carried in 2024. The airline sees Haj operations as a key revenue contributor; last year, it generated Rs 209 crore through 102 flights from seven Indian cities.
Debojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer at SpiceJet, emphasized the airline's commitment to making the pilgrimage smoother for all passengers. 'Our continued participation in this important operation reflects our deep commitment to serving communities across the country,' he said.
The Haj operations are expected to significantly contribute to the airline's earnings in FY25, especially as SpiceJet continues to diversify and stabilize amid industry headwinds.

Musk-Trump Feud Distracts Tesla Traders Ahead of Robotaxi Launch

After years of anticipation and broken promises, Tesla Inc. said its robotaxi service is tentatively set to roll out later this month. Options traders aren't ready to buy the hype yet. Traders had braced for the milestone to come on June 12 — before Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk said late Tuesday the company is aiming for a June 22 launch date — and their positioning in the stock's options signaled that few expected any fireworks. Options traders priced in a 5.4% move in the stock for the week ending June 13, according to data compiled by Tom Keen, options strategist at Piper Sandler. That's 24% below the stock's average realized weekly move over the past 12 months.

Who's listening to Negative Nelly? Not these investors. Survey shows they're optimistic.

Americans may have gotten pretty good at tuning out negative news and predictions, at least when it comes to investing, a Wealthfront survey suggests. Individuals surveyed by investment platform Wealthfront continued investing through the April U.S. stock market volatility stemming from President Donald Trump's tariff back-and-forth, and nearly 30% say they plan to invest more in U.S. stocks in the future. That may seem counterintuitive considering the many dire forecasts for the economy and the stock market from tariff wars, but 'it's also possible that investors are getting better at handling the constant flow of headlines and uncertainties that have shaped the market lately,' said Alex Michalka, head of investment strategy at Wealthfront. In May, 55% of respondents said they were somewhat or very optimistic about the U.S. stock market over the next six months. That's significantly higher than the 42% in April who felt upbeat. The improved vibes are 'likely fueled by the postponement of tariffs and the growing perception that future trade policies could be more moderate than initially anticipated,' Michalka said. Since Trump first announced his aggressive tariff plan on April 2, some of the highest tariffs have been iced as the administration tries to strike trade deals. The latest, and arguably the most significant, talks are occurring this week in London with Chinese officials. Market volatility isn't necessarily over, and it can be uncomfortable for investors, but it's a fact of life, Michalka said. Once people understand and accept that, it's easier to stay the course and remain optimistic. 'During Covid, stocks went down really fast, but they also came back really fast,' said Nick Bour, founder and chief executive of Inspire Wealth in Brighton, Michigan. 'If you get out, you could miss the big bounce back.' Stocks ended May up 6% and are up again on the year. Additionally, if you took advantage of tax-loss harvesting and dollar-cost averaging during the volatility earlier this year, you may have even done better. Tax-loss harvesting means selling stocks that are losing money, recognizing the loss, and using it to offset capital gains, or profits made from other holdings, even if they are different types of investments or are being held in different accounts. Dollar-cost averaging is buying stock at regular intervals, regardless of whether prices are falling or rising. 'Not only did you buy investments 'at a discount,' you should have potentially valuable losses to use to lower your tax bill come tax time next year,' Michalka said. Royal Air Maroc nearing deals for Boeing and Airbus jets, sources say

PARIS (Reuters) -Airbus is nearing a deal with Royal Air Maroc for around 20 of its small A220 passenger jets, gaining a foothold as the North African carrier also prepares to renew U.S. ties with a broader jet Boeing order, industry sources said. Royal Air Maroc has been in talks for over a year to renew its mainly Boeing fleet and is expected to stick with the U.S. planemaker for the bulk of its needs including more 737 MAXs and 787 Dreamliners as soon as next week's Paris Airshow, they said.
