
Drugs control administration seizes illegal drug stocks worth 3.5L in city

Hyderabad: The Drugs Control Administration (DCA) in Telangana seized stocks worth 3 lakh after busting an unauthorised manufacturing operation of certain drugs at a pharmaceuticals company in Gajularamaram, Medchal-Malkajgiri.
According to the officials, a total of 537 kg of albendazole tablets and 986 kg of albendazole granules, both intended for veterinary purposes, were manufactured illegally without a drug licence at the manufacturing facility of Siflon Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
In another case at Moosarambagh, officials seized formulations illegally marketed under the name of a pharma company operating without a drug licence, with stocks worth 52,737 confiscated.
During the raid, the DCA officers detected formulations illegally marketed under the name of Biovus Pharma. The company's management failed to produce the requisite manufacturer-marketer agreement with the manufacturer of the drug and also failed to furnish a valid drug licence at the marketer's address indicated on the label.
In the third case, officials found an Ayurvedic medicine with the label name 'Heamaadri Artho Care Pain Oil' circulating in the market with misleading claims of treating rheumatoid arthritis, which is a contravention of the Drugs and Magic Remedies Act. All the stocks of the drug were seized by the officials.

Telangana DCA busts illegal veterinary drug unit; seizes unlicensed products worth Rs 3 lakh
HYDERABAD: The Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA), along with the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), Hyderabad zone, busted an illegal veterinary drug manufacturing unit and seized unlicensed pharmaceutical products worth approximately Rs 3 lakh on Wednesday. Acting on a tip-off, officials raided Siflon Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Ltd in the ALEAP Industrial Estate at Gajularamaram, Medchal-Malkajgiri district. Seized items included 537 kg of 250 mg albendazole tablets and 986 kg of albendazole granules. In a separate operation, DCA officials seized formulations worth Rs 52,737 marketed without a drug licence under the brand name 'Biovus Pharma' at Sri Venkateshwara Medi Promotors in Moosarambagh, Hyderabad. Samples were collected for further investigation. Additionally, officials seized a product called 'Heamaadri Artho Care Pain Oil' from Kukatpally. The seizure followed findings of a misleading advertisement claiming the oil could cure rheumatoid arthritis. The product was traced back to Heamaadri Ayurveda Pharmacy in East Anandbagh of Safilguda. The DCA officials stated that further action would be taken following investigation into the seized products and manufacturers.

Unlicensed veterinary drug manufacturing unit busted in Gajularamaram
Officials from the Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) raided Siflon Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Limited in Gajularamaram of Medchal-Malkajgiri district, and unearthed the illegal manufacturing of veterinary medicines, on Wednesday. During the inspection, the DCA officers found that the company was producing veterinary drugs without the required manufacturing licence. The unlicenced products included Albendazole Tablets 250mg (Bolus) and Albendazole Granules, both meant for veterinary use. During the raid, 537 kilograms of Albendazole tablets and 986 kilograms of Albendazole Granules were seized. The estimated value of the confiscated stock is around ₹3 lakh, said a release. Further investigation will be conducted, and action will be taken in accordance with the law against all offenders, the release stated.
