MLC 2025: Texas Super Kings history, top performers, schedule, squad
Texas Super Kings will start their campaign against MI New York on June 14. (TSK)
MLC 2025:
The Texas Super Kings (TSK) are one of the most popular teams in Major League Cricket (MLC) due to the presence of some of the best in the business and connect with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
TSK have developed a solid reputation of being a side which fights till the end, making life as difficult as possible for the opposition.
However, the Texas-based franchise is yet to win the tournament so far, which will certainly be a source of concern for fans. The upcoming third edition of the MLC may well bring an end to this barren run. Interestingly, CSK had also won the IPL for the first time in their third season of the tournament, going on to dominate the league in the coming years.

While Du Plessis attempted his best to help the Texas-based franchise finish victorious, smashing 45 runs off 22 balls, a slim margin of 10 runs resulted in them being knocked out. Noor Ahmad and Marcus Stoinis were the top wicket-takers, accounting for nine dismissals each.

Dale Steyn can't hold back tears, picks his SA cap, then goes quiet after South Africa win WTC: 'Life will go on but…'
It's not easy to describe how much the World Test Championship win would have meant for South Africa, in particular the generations of all-time-great cricketers who had come through the ranks and gone through such long spells of disappointment and heartbreak. To watch Kyle Verreynne crash a shot through covers and confirm that the ICC Test Mace would be going back home to the Rainbow Nation was to ease the pain of decades of hurt, achieving a dream held and not realised by so many. One such man was Dale Steyn, a legendary fast bowler and one of the best of all time, who never quite got close to lifting an ICC trophy. Steyn, on media duties for Star Sports, was overcome by pure emotion in the wake of those winning runs, rendered nearly speechless by what it meant to watch his country finally get over that hurdle. In a video shared by the Star Sports social media handles, Steyn can be seen struggling to form words and fight back tears, before falling silent for an extended period as the realisation of the moment truly dawned on him. 'What do you do, what do you say? It's incredible, I'm sitting at home, I've got my cap here, I'm extremely proud. I mean, what do you do? I'll take my son for a walk and life will carry on,' said the fast bowler, lifting up his Proteas Test cap, before falling silent and welling up with emotion following the moment. It is evident how poignant a moment this is considered in South African cricket history. Steyn wasn't the only South African to feel the brunt of the moment, with Keshav Maharaj also fighting through tears of his own to speak to former captain Graeme Smith about how much it means to the country to get over the line after years of heartbreak, and repeatedly falling short of the ultimate glory. Also Read: Keshav Maharaj sobs uncontrollably; Temba Bavuma covers his face to hide tears At the end, it was Aiden Markram the hero with one of South Africa's most famous Test centuries, assisted by Kagiso Rabada's 9-fer, a man who is considered to be Dale Steyn's successor in South Africa's long list of fast bowling greats.

South Africa team sings 'Bella Ciao' inspired victory song for Temba Bavuma after World Test Championship win
South Africa's cricket team led by captain Temba Bavuma scripted history by clinching their first ICC World Test Championship (WTC) title on Saturday (June 14). They ended a 27-year drought for a major ICC trophy by registering a 5-wicket win in a thrilling 282-run chase against Australia at the Lord's in London. The special victory was a testament to the team's resilience, with Bavuma's 66-run knock despite a hamstring injury and Aiden Markram's match-defining 136 runs powering the side to glory. This title marked South Africa's first senior ICC victory since 1998. South African squad sang a special song for skipper Bavuma after the win. The post-match festivities caught global attention when the Proteas sang a special song inspired by the iconic 'Bella Ciao' tune, famously associated with Money Heist. They honoured Bavuma's leadership by singing the unique version of the anthem in the Lord's dressing room. The video of the players dancing and singing went viral. Temba Bavuma began his Test captaincy for South Africa in the 2022/23 West Indies series, stepping into the role with confidence. He has been a remarkable leader with nine wins and one draw in his first 10 Tests. He holds the best-ever start for a Test captain, surpassing legends like Warwick Armstrong. His 66-run knock played through pain in the WTC final, was a defining moment, earning praise from cricket icons like AB de Villiers and Sachin Tendulkar. Bavuma scored 36 runs off 84 balls and smashed 4 boundaries and a six. He was dismissed by Pat Cummins in the 40th over. Bavuma played a crucial knock for the Proteas in the second innings. He smashed 66 runs off 134 balls including five boundaries. He fell prey to Cummin's delivery again and lost his wicket in the 59th over. This WTC win is more than a trophy; it is a ray of hope for South African cricket. With sights set on the 2027 Cricket World Cup, co-hosted by South Africa, Bavuma's men will be geared up and determined to build a lasting legacy.

DDCA Planning To Increase Number Of Teams In 2nd Edition Of Delhi Premier League
'We are thinking of increasing facilities in DPL… there are talks of increasing the teams as well (from six to eight)," Sharma told PTI Videos, highlighting DDCA's plan to expand the tournament. 'The new DPL season will begin in the first or second week of August," he added. Sharma mentioned that DDCA was pleased that many players who participated in the DPL last year had gone on to play in the Indian Premier League this year. 'A total of 14 cricketers (who competed in) DPL played in the IPL… players like Digvesh Rathi, Ayush Badoni and Priyansh Arya, among others," he said, adding that there were plans to give a boost to women's cricket as well. DDCA recently launched a women's T20 tournament in which 41 affiliated clubs are participating. Sharma said DDCA plans to add two more women's teams by next year. 'Our apex council is giving special focus to women's cricket. If any (affiliated) club fields its women's team, it will be given Rs one lakh as subsidy and if they build their ground, then they will be give Rs 2.5 lakhs." Sharma noted that the Arun Jaitley Stadium had undergone significant renovations and changes, resulting in improved facilities for players and spectators. 'We got a bad name sometimes when lights went off or the pitch wasn't in good condition. So, we renovated the stadium to provide better facilities. It was a proud moment for our apex council when we were given the 'Best Pitch Award in IPL', which is a big achievement," he added. With the BCCI shifting the venue for the three-match women's ODI series between India and Australia in September-October from Chennai to Delhi and Mullanpur, Sharma said DDCA was committed to providing the best facilities for the players. The matches were moved to Delhi and Mullanpur as the Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai is undergoing a revamp of the outfield and pitches. 'We will provide the best facilities (for the women's ODI here). We will have a lot of facilities to generate spectator interest. We have a good curator staff and everything is ready for Australia series," said Sharma. The DDCA is also planning to send players for umpiring courses to further nurture cricketing talent. 'We want to send a few players from DDCA for umpiring courses." he said. (With inputs from PTI)
