Jake Paul called out by former four-weight champion Adrien Broner: ‘I'd knock you out'
Adrien Broner won his first world title at super featherweight in 2011 and went on to claim belts at lightweight, super-lightweight and welterweight before suffering his first defeat by Marcos Maidana in December 2013.
Inactivity has plagued Broner's career ever since, and he has not fought since losing a points decision to fellow American Blair Cobbs last June. Broner has also encountered issues away from the ring, but now appears to be keen on a comeback and has his sights firmly set on Paul.
In a video posted on social media on Tuesday, Broner said: 'Jake Paul, I'd knock your b**** a*** out! I'm talking to you, Jake Paul. I'd knock you the f*** out. Dead a***.'
Broner has largely boxed at welterweight or below throughout his career, and would be giving up a significant weight advantage to Paul, whose most recent fights have been at cruiserweight or heavyweight.
However, Paul has previously expressed interest in taking on lightweight champion Gervonta Davis, signalling that he is open to facing smaller men.
Many of Paul's opponents have been at the backend of their careers, and Broner would fit into this category after turning 36 earlier this week.
Broner is also a big name in the boxing world after fighting the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Shawn Porter and Paulie Malignaggi during his prime years.
Paul is currently searching for his next opponent after outpointing ex-middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr last month, and he has talked up a potential clash with Anthony Joshua.
The controversial 28-year-old also faced off with undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk after he beat Daniel Dubois at Wembley, but it seems unlikely that fight will take place any time soon.
Broner has now emerged as a potential option after his X-rated social media message, but whether his brash talking will earn him a major payday against Paul remains to be seen.

'I don't want to mention his name,' Nurmagomedov said. 'This is punishment, this is punishment. And he keeps doing this, keeps doing this, keeps doing this. Everything that happened [...] woman this, alcohol this, drugs, everything.' Nurmagomedov was, in part, referring to McGregor's admission during his civil rape case that he had taken drugs, while the Russian elsewhere mentioned a 2019 incident in which the Irishman pleaded guilty to assault after punching a man in a bar. 'But the most beautiful part of this,' Nurmagomedov, 36, continued, '[is] Allah always gives for us – it doesn't matter, anybody, everybody – a chance to come back. Always, in this world, a chance to come back. 'This is the most beautiful thing. It doesn't matter how you're bad, Allah is going to give you a chance to always come back. I think he has a chance, and he has to change the way how he's living. 'Why am I talking about this? [...] If he's going to change, he can change with him so many lives, too. And that's why I wish him to change himself.' The Independent approached McGregor's representatives for comment on Nurmagomedov's interview. In the build-up to their 2018 fight, McGregor threw a dolly at the window of a bus in which Nurmagomedov and other UFC athletes were sitting. He was charged with three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief, then was further charged with menacing and reckless endangerment at his arraignment. McGregor pleaded no contest to a count of disorderly conduct and was ordered to perform five days of community service and attend anger management classes. The former two-weight champion , as he targets a return to the mixed martial arts promotion. He has expressed an interest in competing on a potential fight card at the White House, an event mentioned by US president Donald Trump in recent weeks. Trump, who attends UFC events semi-regularly, is a friend of UFC president Dana White.

Rahaman Ali, younger brother of Muhammad Ali, dies aged 82
Rahaman Ali, the younger brother of heavyweight legend Muhammad Ali, has passed away at the age of 82. Rahaman died on Friday 1 August, as confirmed by the Muhammad Ali Center. President and CEO of the Muhammad Ali Center, DeVone Holt, said in a statement: 'You can't tell Muhammad's story without mentioning Rahaman. 'He was one of the most constant sources of support for Muhammad during his career and their relationship was a true example of what it means to be 'my brother's keeper'.' Ring Magazine paid tribute to Rahaman with a statement that read: ' The Ring is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Rahaman Ali. Our sympathies are with the Ali family at this time.' Rahaman was born in July 1943, 18 months after Muhammad, and was initially named Rudolph Arnett Clay, but, like his brother, he went on to change his name. Rahaman attended his older brother's biggest fights and was a regular source of support during Muhammad's training camps. He was also a professional boxer himself and made his debut on the undercard of Muhammad's famous win over Sonny Liston in February 1964 when he became heavyweight champion for the first had 18 professional bouts in total, winning 14 and losing three, with one draw on his record. He retired in 1972 after a knockout loss to Superman film series actor Jack O'Halloran, the only stoppage defeat of his career. Rahaman released his autobiography titled That's Muhammad Ali's brother! My life on the undercard, in 2014. He wrote a second book called My Brother, Muhammad Ali, The Definitive Biography, which was published in 2019. Kenny Bednarek hits out at Noah Lyles after shoving Olympic champion at trials
American sprinter Kenny Bednarek has branded compatriot Noah Lyles as 'unsportsmanlike' after the latter beat him to gold in the 200m event at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The duo were racing in the 200m event at the annual championships in Oregon – with Lyles pipping his Team USA teammate to gold with a time of 19.63s – and were involved in a scuffle as they crossed the finish line, with Bednarek pushing Lyles and the pair exchanging words. "I tell you, if you've got a problem, I expect a call," Bednarek said in the post-race interview. "You know what, you're right. You're right. Let's talk after this,' replied Lyles. Speaking individually later on, Bednarek said: 'Like I've said before, Noah's going to be Noah. If he wants to stare me down, that's fine. "The summary is, don't do that to me," he said. "I don't do any of that stuff. It's not good character right there. That's pretty much it. At the end of the day, he won the race. I've got to give him props. He was the better man today. "What he said didn't matter, it's just what he did," Bednarek said. "Unsportsmanlike [expletive], and I don't deal with that. It's a respect factor. He's fresh. Last time we lined it up, I beat him, that's all I can say. Next time we line up, I'm going to win. That's all that matters,' he added. "On coach's orders, no comment,' said Lyles when asked about the incident. The result means that the pair face a rematch at the World Championships in Tokyo on 19 September, with Lyles a three-time defending world champion in his favourite event and the defending champion in the 100m too. And Bednrek said that the pair will 'go fresh and we'll see what happens' in Japan. 'I'm very confident I can beat him. That's all I can say,' he added.
