Abu Dhabi is preparing to host the largest-ever edition of the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) from August 30 to September 7, 2025, at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi.
The 22nd edition of the event is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Falconers Club. Organized by ADNEC Group in partnership with the Emirates Falconers Club, ADIHEX celebrates the UAE's deep-rooted hunting, falconry, and equestrian traditions.
Following last year's success, which welcomed over 350,000 visitors and 1,700 exhibitors from 65 countries, this year's event is expected to break records once again. It will feature new activities, including multi-stage falcon auctions and interactive cultural performances that highlight the UAE's heritage.
His Excellency Majid Ali Al Mansouri, Secretary General of the Emirates Falconers Club, said ADIHEX has become a key platform for preserving Emirati and Arab heritage. 'This event connects the legacy of the past with the ambitions of the future,' he said, expressing gratitude to the UAE leadership for its continued support of cultural initiatives.
Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, ADNEC Group CEO, said preparations are in full swing to deliver an exceptional experience for visitors and participants. 'This year, we are introducing new features like falcon auctions, live demonstrations, and global partnerships to reinforce ADIHEX's standing as a world-class event,' he said.
The exhibition will also support local industries, traditional crafts, and small businesses by opening doors to new regional and international markets. Visitors can expect a diverse showcase, from hunting and equestrian gear to marine sports equipment, camping gear, arts, and crafts.
In addition to the main Abu Dhabi event, ADNEC announced the launch of the first-ever Al Ain International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition, scheduled for November 26–30, 2025. This new event will cover 12,000 square meters and spotlight the latest technologies and equipment in these heritage sectors.
With a rich mix of tradition and innovation, ADIHEX 2025 is set to be a global celebration of Emirati culture and a must-visit for heritage and outdoor enthusiasts from around the world.

Israel to partially reopen Gaza private goods trade

Undefined Israel will partially reopen private sector trade with Gaza to reduce its reliance on humanitarian aid, the defence ministry civil affairs agency for the Palestinian territories said on Tuesday. 'As part of formulating the mechanism, a limited number of local merchants were approved by the defence establishment, subject to several criteria and strict security screening,' COGAT said. Israel has been fighting Hamas in Gaza for 22 months and imposed a total blockade on March 2, partially lifted in May to allow a US-backed private agency to open food distribution centres. Aid convoys and airdrops by Arab and European militaries resumed last month, as UN-mandated expert reports warned famine was unfolding in the war-torn territory. The COGAT statement said private sector deliveries would be paid for by monitored bank transfers and be subject to inspections by the Israeli military before entering Gaza, 'to prevent the involvement of the Hamas terrorist organisation'. Permitted goods under the new mechanism will include food staples, fruit, vegetables, baby formula and hygiene products, COGAT said. The agency said more than 300 aid trucks entered Gaza on Monday, a larger number than in previous days, and that hundreds more were 'still queued up for UN pickup'.

Online investment scam

A ruling is expected on 26 August in the case of three defendants, two Arab and one foreign, along with their company, accused of laundering nearly BD500,000 linked to a series of online frauds. Prosecutors say the accused lured victims through online adverts claiming to offer investment opportunities in cryptocurrency, stock trading and gold. People transferred money, believing they were securing future profits, only to realise later that the entire operation was a sham. The Financial Intelligence National Centre (FINC), drawing on confidential sources, identified a company established by the second and third defendants. It was registered as a gold investment business but is believed to have served as the main vehicle for the fraud. The group allegedly ran online campaigns promising stable returns, backed by doctored images of growing financial portfolios sent to reassure investors. Investigators estimate that over BD400,000 were collected. The money was then sent out of Bahrain and converted into cryptocurrency, with the aim of concealing its origin. Transfers were carried out through several overseas banks. The matter came to the attention of the authorities after a number of victims filed complaints. Each had responded to adverts, deposited funds and later found themselves ignored. The court is due to rule on the charges against the three accused and their company later this month.

Emirates Foundation Opens Registration for ‘Misrah' Youth Heritage Trek

Young people in the UAE now have a chance to embark on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure that blends culture, fitness, and national pride. Emirates Foundation has opened registration for Misrah, a heritage initiative led by Active Abu Dhabi in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, aimed at connecting youth with authentic Emirati traditions. Set to officially launch on 21 August 2025, Misrah invites UAE citizens and residents aged 18 to 25 to apply for a challenging 1,000km desert trek across the country. The journey, which uses traditional methods of travel like camel riding, is designed to test participants physically and mentally while immersing them in the nation's heritage. Two-Phase Cultural Experience The program will begin with a training phase in Abu Dhabi, where 500 shortlisted participants will learn camel riding, traditional crafts, and Emirati folk arts under the guidance of experts. Training sessions will be held four days a week from 4pm to 8pm until 19 October, with 60 participants per day. After this phase, 100 participants will be selected for the second stage – the 1,000km trek through the UAE desert. A Journey Through Emirati Heritage The training will give participants hands-on experience with camels, from learning about their anatomy and caring for them to preparing saddles and using traditional tools such as woven mats, water pouches, and saddlebags. They will also explore folk arts and hospitality traditions, including Al Ayala and Al Taghrooda performances, campfire storytelling, and Emirati coffee preparation. Participants will rotate through three learning stations – The Coffee House, Folk Arts Workshops, and Camel Pastures – ensuring a complete cultural immersion that blends theory with practice. Empowering the Next Generation Mansour Al Dhaheri, Chairman of Active Abu Dhabi, said: 'Misrah is more than a physical challenge – it is a journey of self-discovery, cultural pride, and character building. We encourage young citizens and residents to join this unique experience and deepen their appreciation of Emirati heritage.' The initiative is supported by multiple government and private entities, including Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Department of Culture and Tourism, Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, Ministry of Defense, Mubadala Investment Company, and other partners. Applications are now open, and the Emirates Foundation encourages all eligible youth to take part in this exceptional journey to celebrate the UAE's culture, traditions, and national identity.
