Jamshedpur: The Tata Steel Utility and Infrastructure Services Ltd (TS UISL) on Friday honoured sanitation workers and officials after Jamshedpur bagged the third cleanest city in the country under Swacch Survekshan rankings.
Held at Kudy Mohanty auditorium, the event was attended by over 200 participants, including civic officials, sanitation workers and supervisors. "This accomplishment is the result of consistent, dedicated efforts made each and every day. Moving up to the third place is a significant leap and a proud moment for Jamshedpur," said Ritu Raj Sinha, MD, TS UISL, lauding the efforts of the sanitation workers in particular.

Mar Ivanios College readies for mammoth gathering

T'puram: In connection with diamond jubilee of Mar Ivanios College, Nalanchira, a mega reunion of generations is being organized. The 'Reunion of Legacy' will take place on the campus on Saturday and Sunday. Alumni and former teachers from the past 75 years will gather once again in the college courtyard and classrooms. They will become students again in their own classes and teachers will return to teach. Over 6,000 alumni are expected to attend the gathering. On Thursday at 6.30pm, decorative lights on the college campus will be switched on by Cardinal Baselios Cleemis Catholicos. On Friday, a flag procession starting from the grave of Fr Geevarghese Panicker, who was the principal of the college for 19 years, at Adoor Paranthala Malankara Catholic Church, will be inaugurated at 12 noon by Bishop Joshua Mar Ignathios and Bishop Samuel Mar Irenios. On Saturday at 7.30am, a vintage car rally will take place from Pattom St Mary's to the college. A flea market, the alumni reunion, a musical concert, fashion show, a cultural evening and DJ by alumni are also being organised as part of the event. CM Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate a public meeting at 5pm on the same day. TNN
