Reid clinches Norfolk seniors' crown after dramatic finale
Sheringham golfer Wiliamson fired a two-over-par 70 – including a triple bogey at the 16th hole – before enduring a lengthy wait to see if his score could be matched.
Ninety minutes later, Reid signed for the same total after a rollercoaster round that began with four straight bogies.
The Eaton Golf Club captain fought his way back in typically determined style and an eagle at the 15th left him at one-over-par.
Dropped shots on 16 and 17 came as fresh blows, but Reid had one last ace up his sleeve and closed out with a birdie to tie Williamson.
That left the pair facing a play-off and at the first extra hole – Mundesley's par-3 opener – both men found the green with their tee-shots.
But Williamson was unable to make par from a tricky spot above the cup and Reid coolly two-putted to secure his three and the outright victory.
Ex-Norfolk seniors captain Reid said: 'I was lucky that Mark had that downhill putt, which was difficult to leave close and I was able to make my par from where my tee shot had finished.
'It's a great thrill to win this title. The course was in fantastic condition, especially the greens which were the best we've played on all year, but I had to battle with the windy conditions all day.'
There was some compensation for Williamson, who won the Scratch Team Shield alongside fellow Sheringham members Jon Batten and Simon Folbigg.
Paul Ellis, receiving 10 strokes, emerged victorious in the Seniors Handicap Championship. He carded an impressive net 67 (one-under-par) to pip fellow Mundesley member Mark Cushion by a single shot.
Ellis also took first prize in both the over-70s Super Seniors scratch and handicap events. And to cap a very successful day he joined forces with Richard Stackwood and Chris Cutting to win the Team Handicap Shield for the host club.
A field of nearly 60 took part in testing windy conditions with Stuart Goodman, Norfolk County Golf Union president, awarding the prizes and thanking Mundesley Golf Club and its members for hosting a great championship.

Rahm's stellar 11-under 60, his lowest round of the season, got him into a playoff with Sebastián Muñoz for the event title, which Muñoz won on the first playoff hole. But it wasn't enough to keep Rahm from claiming the season-long Individual Championship. Rahm has now finished the season at the top of the standings in both of his seasons with LIV Golf. Muñoz, who on Friday shot the first 59 in professional golf history that included a double-bogey, shot a final round 6-under 65 before winning the playoff. Despite having five wins this season, Niemann came up short in the season-long race against Rahm. Niemann shot a 5-under 66, which wasn't quite enough to fend off Rahm's thunderous charge. Torque GC earned their first team victory since LIV Golf Greenbrier in 2023. The team shot a cumulative score of 64-under for the week, which was the lowest overall team score in LIV Golf history, beating the previous record of 53-under. ADVERTISEMENT Throughout the final round, Majesticks GC co-captains Lee Westwood, Henrik Stenson and Ian Poulter, as well as HyFlyers GC teammates Andy Ogletree and Brendan Steele, and Mito Pereira of Torque competed fiercely in the relegation race. Ultimately, Stenson, Ogletree, and Pereira could not climb out of the Drop Zone and now face relegation from the LIV Golf League for 2026. Poulter surged with birdies on four of his final five holes at LIV Golf Indianapolis, narrowly escaping the Drop Zone. His late charge, however, pushed his teammate Stenson into the dreaded relegation zone. It has been stated that Spurs are willing to offer around £55m-£60m to acquire the services of the English talent this summer. Eze's Impressive Record In English Football Last Season Eze was a top performer for the Eagles in the previous campaign when he produced a string of productive performances for them in the Premier League. The English talent participated in 43 matches for the London outfit last season, netting 14 goals and grabbing 11 assists in all competitions. The 27-year-old managed to prove his worth in the final third by averaging 3.48 shots per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He kept 27% of his shots on target. He can make a few driving runs with the ball as well and can contribute by scoring his fair share of goals for his team. The English sensation is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also function as a left-sided wide player if told to do so. He has already proven his worth in the Premier League and won't take much time to adjust to life at Tottenham. Eze would inject more quality and depth into Spurs boss Enzo Maresca's attack. He has what it takes to secure a regular first-team football at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season and would serve as an ideal replacement for James Maddison, who suffered a serious injury in pre-season. At 27, Eze is about to enter his prime, which makes him a decent option for Tottenham to consider this summer. With all things considered, Frank would be wise to go all out to snap him up in this transfer period.
