Army Chief Gen Dwivedi meets Indian envoy to UN, Myanmar
New Delhi [India], August 22 (ANI): Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi met with Ambassador P Harish, Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations, and Ambassador Abhay Thakur, India's envoy to Myanmar, on Thursday. 'MIMAMSA is a digital solution for enabling online Arbitration between the contractor and MES. e-MB transforms the time-consuming traditional manual paper-based process of measurement recording, verification and payment documentation by various stakeholders into a digital workflow. The applications foster efficiency, transparency and mark another step towards e-Governance," the Indian Army wrote on Monday, COAS Dwivedi interacted with thirty meritorious higher secondary students from the tribal communities of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands as part of the ongoing National Integration Tour – 'Dweep se Delhi," as per a to the release, General Upendra Dwivedi commended the students for their achievements in various fields and urged them to continue striving for excellence with commitment and perseverance. He also lauded the efforts of the Andaman and Nicobar Command for empowering the youth of the islands and enabling them to experience the vast opportunities our nation students, equally represented by boys and girls, belong to the Karen and Nicobarese communities from North Andaman, South Andaman and Nicobar districts. Known for their deep cultural roots and resilience, these tribes embody harmony with nature and a strong sense of community. (ANI)

MPL announces suspension of all money-based games after Parliament passes Online Gaming Bill 2025
Gaming company Mobile Premier League (MPL) announced on Thursday that it has suspended all money-based online games on its platform, shortly after Parliament passed the Online Gaming Bill 2025. 'Effective immediately, we are suspending all gaming offerings involving money on the MPL platform in India,' MPL said in a statement, according to a report by Reuters. The move comes as part of a jolt to the online gaming industry after the passage of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025 in the Rajya Sabha. The Bill was passed amid sloganeering and chaos by the Opposition. Dream Sports, the parent company of fantasy gaming major Dream11, is also shutting down its money games for users, according to Entrackr. Speaking to the media outlet, company sources said Dream 11's decision to suspend its online money game business was announced to the staff in an internal town hall on August 20. The company will shift focus to other investments such as Willow TV and Cricbuzz and expansion into overseas markets. Zupee, another online gaming platform, also made a similar announcement. 'Zupee remains fully operational and our players can continue to enjoy their favourite games on the platform. In line with the new Online Gaming Bill 2025, we are discontinuing paid games, but our hugely popular free titles like Ludo Supreme, Ludo Turbo, Snakes & Ladders, and Trump Card Mania will continue to be available for all users for free. We remain committed to delivering fun, engaging, and responsible gaming and entertainment experiences to our 150 million users across India for free,' a company spokesperson said. The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025 has three aspects, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Thursday. These include e-sports, online social gaming and online money gaming, out of which 2/3rd segment (e-sports and online social gaming) will be promoted and encouraged. He described online money gaming as becoming a 'public health risk'. '…There is one such segment, 3rd - online money games, due to which a big problem has arisen in the society, especially in the middle-class youth. It gets addicted and the family's savings are spent. It is estimated that 45 crore people are affected by it and more than ₹ 20,000 crore has been destroyed in it. WHO has declared it a gaming disorder. Online money gaming has become a public health risk,' Vaishnaw said, adding that it is giving rise to psychological disorders, compulsive behaviour and violent behaviour. Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the Bill and said it will promote e-sports while saving people from money games. 'This Bill, passed by both Houses of Parliament, highlights our commitment towards making India a hub for gaming, innovation and creativity,' PM Modi said in a post on X.

"India Doesn't Take Any Position On Matters Of Faith, Religion": Minister On Dalai Lama's Succession
New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday said it has seen a statement issued by the 14th Dalai Lama in July about the institution of the Dalai Lama, and underlined that it "does not take any position" on matters concerning beliefs and practices of faith and religion. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said this in a written response to queries in the Rajya Sabha. The MEA was asked whether it is a fact that the government has "openly backed Dalai Lama's right to decide on his own succession". "Government has seen a statement regarding the institution of Dalai Lama issued by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama on 02 July 2025. Government of India does not take any position on matters concerning beliefs and practices of faith and religion," the MoS said. "Government has always upheld freedom of religion for all in India and will continue to do so. Government's position has also been conveyed to the Chinese side," he said. In July, Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) head Penpa Tsering countered the Chinese government's claim to the next Dalai Lama and said they should first look for the reincarnations of its own leadership. "The Chinese government also says they will look for the Dalai Lama's reincarnation within the borders of China. His Holiness is going to be reborn; he will decide where he wants to be reborn. How can the Chinese government dictate a lama, a spiritual being, where he or she should be reborn," Tsering had told PTI ahead of the 90th birthday celebration of the 14th Dalai Lama.
