I bought a $30 item from Kmart - and it's my favourite cleaning find of 2025
A humble household chore item has been declared the 'cleaning find of 2025' – and it can be purchased for just $30.
A recent video shared to the Kmart Australia social media accounts demonstrated the 3-in-1 Mop and Bucket Set, with fans quickly pouring into the comments section to confirm it's 'the best mop I've ever used'.
While a mop hardly sounds like a groundbreaking cleaning tool, the mass budget retailer's latest offering stands apart thanks to some clever upgrades to the mop bucket itself.
The biggest difference is the mop's unique three-chamber separation bucket.
As explained in the voice over, this chamber system removes a common gripe people have while mopping.
'One of the reasons why I didn't enjoy mopping in the past was it felt like I was just moving around dirty water on the floors,' they confirmed.
The correlating caption on the video post confirmed that the unique bucket chamber 'keeps clean and dirty water separate – so every swipe actually helps clean'.
Demonstrating the three-chamber system in action, the video starts by showing how to fill the far-right chamber with fresh water and detergent.
The video then proceeds along to the middle chamber, which has a tap-like dial on top of the bucket, which allows clean sudsy water to filter in from the first chamber.
On top of the middle chamber is a slim opening for the mop head to be neatly inserted and dipped into the clean water.
Next, as you wring the mop by lifting it up and out of the bucket, any watery remnants from the mop pad filter into the adjacent third 'dirty water' compartment.
'When you lift this up, it rings the dirty water out on this side,' explains the video voice over.
The video also explained that in the event the third 'dirty water' compartment needed to be emptied, there was also a convenient 'nozzle' cap on the side that can be released to allow dirty water to drain out of the side of the bucket.
One of the other features highlighted in the video was its ability to be compactly stored, which is especially useful for those in smaller homes where storage space is at a premium.
All the mop's components can be disassembled and neatly packed into the bucket itself – which also helps prevent losing any parts.
The microfibre mop heads are additionally detachable and machine washable.
In the event that the mop heads become completely worn out, Kmart also stock a 2-pack of Mop Set Refills for $4.
Kmart shoppers took to the comments section to declare their excitement over the simple yet 'gamechanger' upgrade to the basic mop and bucket.
'I absolutely love this mop - I threw out my expensive one for this!' said one happy convert adding, that their 'floors have never been so clean'.
'I bought one today and I absolutely love it,' said another.
'The best mop I've ever used!' chimed in a third.
'This is game changer. I love it! Cheap and working great,' added another happy customer.
Other online Kmart fans noted the additional cleaning 'hack' of using this mop as a wall cleaning device.
'The best wall washer,' said one fan.
'I do home cleaning and this is, a life saver, for wall, ceilings and floors, win-win,' confirmed another.
'[W]alls + grubby kids + this mop = clean walls,' read part of a third comment.
The new 3-in-1 Mop Bucket is just the latest Kmart cleaning tool that's upped the mundane task of house chores.
The budget retailer also recently released the Anko Robotic Vacuum, which promptly sold out online and is extremely difficult to find in stores.
The $169 Kmart item has been heralded as a great value entry-level robotic vacuum that works well on light messes and is ideal for small households.
This robo vac is also marketed as a 3-in-1 device, which can simultaneously 'sweep, vacuum and mop', thanks to the addition of a water tank attachment and mop head.

Elon Musk backs down in Trump battle as Tesla stocks nosedive and MAGA threatens to kick him out the country
What could happen next in the Trump - Musk feud? Following the bitter break up between Elon Musk and Donald Trump, many are waiting in anticipation at what the two titans could do next. The world's richest man and the leader of the free world appear set to continue launching attacks at each other, and have already threatened to destroy each other's empires. For Musk, he has almost $400 billion to wield against the president, and could turn the fortune he used to get Trump elected toward his political opponents. Musk has already mounted an aggressive campaign to 'kill' Trump's Big Beautiful Bill in Congress, which holds the key to delivering much of Trump's domestic agenda. The businessman also owns arguably the world's most potent social media platform, X, which he used on Thursday to call for the end of America's two-party system. But while Musk has an array of weapons to turn on Trump, the president's power in the White House offers him several avenues to fight back. Trump threatened to slash Musk's government contracts on Thursday, which totalled over $3 billion last year. The White House's power to launch investigations and turn public opinion against Musk also holds significant potential, with Trump allies including Steve Bannon urging him to go as far as deporting Musk and revoking his security clearances. Trump also has options including turning his Justice Department on Musk's businesses, with Musk already having lost $27 billion of his net worth since he turned on Trump.

PitchBook: AI disruption rises, VC optimism cools in H1 2025
The latest PitchBook survey finds that venture capital investors are making "strategic adjustments as they navigate geopolitical uncertainty and technological transition." 0 This content has been selected, created and edited by the Finextra editorial team based upon its relevance and interest to our community. 52% of VC investors are expecting major changes in the sector this year, up from 32% in late 2024, according to PitchBook's H1 2025 VC Tech Survey. The rise is driven by technologies such as automated underwriting and generative AI copilots. However, adoption hurdles remain, with nearly half of respondents citing unclear use cases, followed by skills shortages and high implementation costs. Regulatory concerns, meanwhile, have eased, falling from 55% to 39%. Despite macroeconomic uncertainty, fintech remains one of the top sectors for growth capital, attracting 38% of allocations. Still, investor caution is rising. 34% are scrutinising deals more closely, 44% are pausing investments for clarity, and 25% are pulling back from international opportunities amid renewed trade tensions. The broader fundraising outlook has cooled, with only 38% of respondents expecting a rise in VC funding this year, a decrease from 58% in H2 2024. Liquidity expectations are also more conservative, with fewer anticipating exit improvements. As AI capabilities mature and geopolitical risks reshape capital flows, fintech startups are under growing pressure to deliver clear value and defensible AI strategies to stand out in a more selective market.

Android users urged to update their phones 'immediately' for this reason
Android users urged to update their phones 'immediately' for this reason A new security update has been released and anyone with an Android phone is being encouraged to install the new software as soon as possible Those with Google Pixel phones will receive the latest security updates first (Image:) Android phone users are being urged to update their devices with the latest software following the release of Google's monthly security bulletin. This typically reaches Android users with Google Pixel phones first. In May, Google rolled out security enhancements that rectified a significant vulnerability that could have been exploited by hackers, potentially exposing phone owners to malicious attacks. Fortunately, this is not the case this month, but the advice remains to keep your phone updated with the most recent software. "Although the latest Android security bulletin does not list any vulnerabilities currently known to be under exploitation, we still strongly recommend that Android users update their devices immediately," stated Adam Boynton, EMEIA senior security strategy manager at security firm Jamf. "The majority of the fixes are within the Android framework, which provides the foundation for building Android applications and is therefore an attractive target for cybercriminals. Exploiting the most severe vulnerability could allow an attacker to gain elevated access and administrative rights." The terminology used to describe security updates can often be quite technical, just as the likelihood of you being targeted by cybercrime is relatively minimal. However, Android is updated monthly for a reason and anyone running older software versions is technically vulnerable to attack, reports the Express. Google releases these updates free to all Android manufacturers, enabling them to deliver these upgrades to their customers' smartphones. This includes giants such as Samsung, OnePlus, Sony, Xiaomi and Honor, allowing them to keep your device up-to-date, albeit with a delay for the recent models. Article continues below The update also affects Samsung Galaxy phone users (Image: Getty Images ) Android producers are improving at sustaining support for their devices over more extended periods too. Samsung, Google and Honor have committed to seven years of updates for several of their newest phones, although other brands still have some catching up to do. Those in possession of an ageing Android phone will have noticed they no longer receive regular security updates – a sign that it's time to switch to a more modern model. Adam said: "There are four vulnerabilities located within the Android system component, caused by improper input validation. CVE-2025-26453, CVE-2025-26445 and CVE-2025-26441 could allow a local application to gain access to sensitive information, while exploitation of CVE-2025-26443 could allow a local application to execute arbitrary code. "The release provides a window of opportunity to get ahead of cybercriminals; it appears that none of the vulnerabilities addressed in the June security bulletin have yet to be exploited in the wild, making this the perfect time to patch all supported devices." This month, Google says it is one step ahead of the cybercriminals, so updating your device will ensure you're protected. However, if you fail to do so, you could leave yourself vulnerable to future hacks. Article continues below Regularly updating your phone software is simply good tech hygiene. You should be able to configure your Android phone to download these updates automatically, but you can also manually check for system updates in your device's Settings app. If there isn't an update available yet, keep checking throughout the month. If none appears, it may indicate that your phone is no longer receiving these crucial free upgrades.
