The incident took place during the third ball of the 10th over of GT's innings of the ongoing match against LSG at Narendra Modi Stadium.
Lucknow Super Giants fast bowler Akash Maharaj Singh breached Jos Buttler's defence and shattered his stumps on Thursday (May 22) during the IPL 2025 match played between LSG and GT at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After dismissing Buttler in the 236-run chase, Akash came up with a notebook celebration which was inspired by his LSG teammate Digvesh Singh Rathi.
The incident took place during the 10th over of GT's innings. On the third ball, Akash stunned Buttler and Ahmedabad with a brilliant slower ball.
The former England white-ball captain returned back to the pavilion after scoring 33 runs from 18 balls. During his stay at the crease, he hammered three fours and two sixes.
In the ongoing season of the IPL, Rathi has made headlines for his notebook celebration despite the IPL governing council penalising him on multiple occasions. For his viral celebration, which initiated a heated verbal fight between him and Abhishek Sharma in LSG's last match, Rathi was handed a one-match suspension. But in his absence, his teammate Akash does the notebook celebration, and the clip of his act is now going viral on the internet.
He bowled 3.1 overs against Gujarat Titans and finished with figures of 1 for 29 runs.
Earlier in the first half of the match, Australia's T20I captain Mitchell Marsh scored 117 runs from 64 balls, and Nicholas Pooran remained unbeaten on 56 runs from 27 balls. The duo added 121 runs for the second wicket after Shubman Gill invited LSG to bat first. During his stay at the crease, Marsh hammered 10 fours and 8 sixes, whereas Pooran smacked four fours and five sixes.
The super show with the bat also helped Marsh and Pooran complete 500 runs in the ongoing season for LSG.

Mysuru RCB fans hope for first IPL title win

Mysuru: As the much-anticipated IPL 2025 final approaches, excitement is at a fever pitch across Karnataka — especially in Mysuru, where Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans are preparing for a historic clash against Punjab Kings. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Adding to the electric atmosphere, Basavaraj Basappa, a RCB supporter from Mysuru, has made a pledge: if RCB clinches their maiden IPL title, he will sponsor free holige meals at all 16 Indira Canteens across the city. Holige, a traditional sweet flatbread, holds special cultural significance in Karnataka — making it a fitting treat for a potential celebration. As a symbolic kick-off to this initiative, Basappa distributed free holige meals at Gun House Circle on Monday, turning the area into a hub of cheer and camaraderie. Riding this wave of enthusiasm, local RCB supporters have urged chief minister Siddaramaiah to extend the holige celebration citywide — and even statewide —should RCB emerge victorious. In another display of support, Chamaraja Constituency MLA Harishgowda, a staunch RCB fan himself, conducted special poojas at the historic Amrutheshwara Temple on Dewans Road. Along with fellow fans, he performed a Vijaya Durga Homa to invoke divine blessings for RCB's success. "RCB has a huge fan base. Though they reached the finals a few times, they didn't clinch the trophy. We're hopeful that this time will be different," Harishgowda said. There were a few fans who stickered their cars with RCB team logos. *** BOX How many Kannadigas in RCB team? IPL final: The war cry is loud and clear: Ee sala cup namde!

Bengaluru/Ahmedabad: As a late morning flight from Bengaluru touched down at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel international airport here, the RCB! RCB! chants echoed through the aircraft along with the now forbidden eee sala cup namde slogan. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now With Royal Challengers Bengaluru making Tuesday's final against Punjab Kings, their fans have arrived in the city in droves. Rohin Manish was barely two years old when IPL came into existence in 2008. But, from the time he can remember, it's the only IPL team he has followed. In Bengaluru for summer vacation from the US, where he is majoring in psychology at the Penn State University, Rohin roped in his parents Mayank Manish and Jaya to watch the final live with him. "With RCB in the final, there was no way I was going to miss it. We have a very balanced team, don't see a reason why we can't win the trophy," he said. The trip required some planning and risk taking. Manish said: "We didn't know if RCB would take the Qualifier 2 route to the final. So, we had booked tickets for Saturday as well as Monday and let go of the former after they earned a direct entry into the final." Rohin, who is also a Real Madrid fan, does a lot of juggling during the IPL season. "Back in college I schedule my classes in such a way I get to watch RCB games." Following the unscheduled one week break in the league, the final on a weekday, has meant multitasking for many Bengaluru techies, who are remotely working from here. Sushil Shinde, a Bengaluru-based banking professional, who was seen balancing his laptop while picking up his luggage at the conveyor belt, wants his team to win it for RCB. " has been a constant driving force, and I hope they win it for him this year. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Also, the wait has been too long and it's time to end the 17-year wait," said Shinde, who hails from Amravati in Maharashtra. His friend Anirudh Singh was vivacious in his support for Punjab Kings and said: "Punjab has to win it for Preity Zinta (co-owner) and skipper Shreyas Iyer." RCB's legion of fans travelled from across the border as well. Muttu Satish and his friends from Tiruppur near Coimbatore, all businessmen, made a last-minute dash to the Gujarat capital. "It wasn't easy to get tickets, but we managed to buy thanks to an offer on a credit card. But we paid more for the trip than for tickets with the flight ticket prices skyrocketing. But I'm sure it's all going to be worth it because we want to be there for our team. While we would love to see RCB win their maiden title, we are also proud of their journey this season," said Satish. By evening, the Narendra Modi Stadium was buzzing with RCB fans and their props, which clearly outnumbered Punjab Kings supporters.

RCB fans in Bengaluru seek divine blessings, root for special holiday

Bengaluru: The heart for sure will skip a beat and time will stand still for that nanosecond for RCB fans in the city and beyond should Royal Challengers Bengaluru go on to win their first IPL title today. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now So strong are sentiments right here, right now that many RCB supporters have written to chief minister Siddaramaiah, requesting for a state holiday if RCB are crowned champions. As the hours, minutes and seconds are tantalisingly counted down for RCB to face Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the title-clash in Ahmedabad this evening, Bengaluru has a prayer on its lips and a heart full of hope that in the 18th edition of the competition, the crown will be theirs – even as chants of "Ee Sala Cup Namde" echo across homes, pubs, and public gatherings here. With RCB making the final after 11 years, Bengalureans are leaving no stone unturned to 'ensure' their team lift the coveted trophy. Fans across the city have performed special pujas at Hanuman and Ganesha temples, with a 'homa' organised at Chamundeshwari temple — the deity regarded as Karnataka's state goddess. Clad in the ubiquitous RCB team red shirts, hundreds of fans, led by Chamaraja MLA K Harish Gowda, gathered at the Amrutheshwara temple on Dewan's Road, waving posters of their favourite stars. A special homa was also performed to invoke divine blessing for the team's win. Not to be left behind, the city's streets and vehicles are equally resplendent in RCB colours. While car stickers bearing the team's name are a common sighting, one die-hard fan has taken things to the next level — wrapping his entire XUV500 with images of RCB players in a stunning tribute to the team. Bengaluru's pubs and resto-bars are fully booked for the night, with match screenings planned across these venues. PVR INOX has announced special screenings of the final in 30 cities, with tickets being snapped up faster than you'd take to finish reading this article! Vinay Chandrashekar of Long Boat Brewing Co in Marathahalli said they've seen an overwhelming response to Tuesday's final. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "On a regular Tuesday, we see about 300 guests, but tomorrow, we're expecting more than 900. We're not a dedicated sports bar, but the energy around this match is incredible," he said. Echoing a similar sentiment, Biswa Bhusbad Linka, the group general manager at House of Commons, said: "Each of our seven outlets seats 300 to 400 people, and we're completely booked. All four of our associated brands are packed, too. People are calling us non-stop for reservations. The energy is absolutely electric," he said. The RCB fever has even reached the corridors of power. Deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar expressed his support, saying: "Bengaluru boys RCB will win in Ahmedabad. The govt and the people of Karnataka are eagerly waiting. Many fans are travelling to watch the match. Let us all hope and pray for a win."
