Ukrainian sniper makes ‘world record 4,000 metre shot'
The record-breaking shot was fired on 14 August, utilising artificial intelligence and a 14.5mm Alligator rifle.
The sniper belongs to the 'Pryvid' unit, which is defending the key Ukrainian town of Pokrovsk.
Footage indicates the shot was made near the Pokrovsk-Myrnograd frontline, passing through a window to hit the targets.
This feat surpasses previous long-range sniper records, occurring as Russian forces intensify efforts to capture Pokrovsk, a crucial transport hub in eastern Ukraine.

Ukraine said a Russian drone and missile attack on its western territory, hitting targets including an American-owned electronics plant, showed Vladimir Putin is trying to avoid peace talks. In Lviv, one person was killed and three were injured as the attack damaged 26 residential buildings, a nursery school and administrative buildings, regional head Maksym Kozytskyi wrote on Telegram. The regional prosecutor's office said three Russian cruise missiles with cluster munitions struck the city. Moscow has shown no signs of pursuing meaningful negotiations to end the war, Mr Zelensky said. He urged the international community to respond with stronger pressure on Moscow, including tougher sanctions and tariffs. Plans for security guarantees will become clearer by the end of next week, Mr Zelensky said, by which time he expects to be ready to hold direct talks with Mr Putin for the first time since Russia's full-scale invasion. Russia orders state-backed Max messenger app to be pre-installed on new phones
A Russian state-backed messenger application called Max, a rival to WhatsApp that critics say could be used to track users, must be pre-installed on all mobile phones and tablets bought in the country starting next month, the Russian government said on Thursday. The decision to promote Max comes as Moscow, locked in a standoff with the west over Ukraine, is seeking greater control over the internet. The Kremlin said in a statement that Max, which will be integrated with government services, would be on a list of mandatory pre-installed apps on all 'gadgets', including mobile phones and tablets, sold in Russia from 1 September. The firm behind Max said this week that 18 million users had downloaded its app, parts of which are still in a testing phase. State media says accusations from Kremlin critics that Max is a spying app are false and that it has fewer permissions to access user data than rivals WhatsApp and Telegram. It will also be mandatory that from 1 September Russia's domestic app store, RuStore, which is pre-installed on all Android devices, to be pre-installed on Apple devices. A Russian-language TV app called Lime HD TV, which allows people to watch state TV channels for free, will be pre-installed on all smart TVs sold in Russia from 1 January. The push to promote homegrown apps comes after Russia said this month it had started restricting some calls on WhatsApp, owned by Meta Platforms, and on Telegram, accusing the foreign-owned platforms of failing to share information with law enforcement in fraud and terrorism cases.
