Telugu film shoots come to a halt; Industry workers begin strike from August 4
The Telugu Film Industry Employees' Federation has called for an industry-wide strike beginning on August 4. As a result, all film shoots across the region will come to a sudden halt, and this will cause an impact on Tollywood's production pipeline.
Demand for 30% wage hike at the core
As per a Gulte report, the strike is a result of the federation's long-standing demand for a 30% increase in employee pay. The workers' union took a firm stance when producers and stakeholders failed to implement the rise despite numerous requests and conversations. The union announced in an official statement that "all film shootings will be stopped" starting on August 4 due to the pending resolution of their pay-related issues.
Strike announced over wage dispute
The strike is predicted to have a huge knock-on effect, stopping everything from small-scale productions and OTT web shows to big-budget star vehicles and mid-range features. The high number of Telugu crew members from various industries may cause problems for even multilingual film shoots in Hyderabad.
As per the federation, workers have made it clear that they will only resume work on sets where producers agree to the proposed wage hike.
