Two women arrested for cruelty to 50+ animals in Chenango County
NORTH NORWICH, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – New York State Police have announced the arrest of two Norwich women in connection with the removal of over 50 animals, including over a dozen dead, from a Mudge King Road property in North Norwich in January.
24-year-old Fiona R. Taylor and 47-year-old Lauren M. McKendry, both of Norwich, have been arrested and charged with 16 counts of felony Agriculture Markets Law Aggravated Cruelty to Animals and 65 counts of misdemeanor Agriculture Markets Law Overdriving, Torturing and Injuring Animals and Failure to Provide Proper Sustenance.
Taylor was arrested on Friday, Feb. 14 just before 10 a.m., and McKendry on Tuesday, Feb. 18 just after 9 a.m. by New York State Police.
56 animals were removed from the property on Jan. 22, 2025. This includes 30 horses, a pig, seven sheep, four goats, four chickens, seven dogs, and three cats. Troopers said the animals were in need of immediate medical care. The animals were transported to various animal rescue locations throughout the local area.

McKendry and Taylor were issued appearance tickets and scheduled to be in North Norwich Town Court on Feb. 26.

5 facing felony charges following federal investigation into fentanyl sales in Chicago

The firearms charges against Collins, Daniels and Serrano were handed down after they were allegedly found to be illegally possessing firearms, including handguns equipped with a switch device, which makes the weapons capable of firing multiple rounds with a single pull of the trigger, prosecutors said. All five suspects are currently in custody. LATEST CASES: Missing people in Chicagoland If convicted, Daniels, Serrano, Anderson, and Lemon could face a maximum sentence of life in federal prison, as well as mandatory minimums ranging from ten to 15 years. Collins could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted. The investigation into the case was conducted as part of Operation Take Back America, a DOJ-led nationwide initiative launched in March to intensify prosecution against illegal immigration, cartels, human trafficking, and violent crime. Police: New Iberia store clerk shoots would-be armed robber
NEW IBERIA, La. () — A New Iberia store clerk shot a person who was trying to rob the store Thursday night, authorities said. New Iberia Police received a call at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday about a shooting at a convenience store located in the 200 block of Center Street. Investigators said a person entered the store armed with a 'cutting instrument,' walked around the counter and attempted to rob the store clerk. A struggle ensued and the robbery suspect was shot by the store clerk, authorities said. The shooting victim was taken to a local hospital and later airlifted to a hospital in Lafayette, where he remains listed in critical condition. Close Thanks for signing up! Police use tracking device to help apprehend Hamden carjacking suspects
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Haven police say they used a tracking device to help apprehend three people accused of fleeing from a carjacking in Hamden Thursday night. Johnny Jones, 20; Malachi Macfarlane, 18; and a 17-year-old boy were all charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, weapon in a motor vehicle, and interfering with police. New Haven man arrested for alleged handgun threat Jones- the driver- was also charged with engaging police in pursuit, reckless driving, weapon in a motor vehicle and carrying a pistol without a permit. Police said it was around 9:19 p.m. when they were notified by Hamden police of a carjacking that had just happened. The NHPD Real Time Crime Center then located the vehicle in the area of Goffe Street, by Webster Street. Officers used spike strips and Star Chase- a GPS tracking device- on the vehicle, which they said ended up crashing into a fence on North Place in West Haven. A .40 caliber handgun was located in the vehicle during the arrests, police said. 'This is great police work. From Hamden notifying us of a carjacking, then our use of technology to located the vehicle, safely deflate its tires and track it to West Haven where we recovered the suspects and took a gun off the streets,' New Haven Police Chief Karl Jacobson said. 'I can't speak highly enough about how our officers responded.' Macfarlane and Jones were held on $500,000 and $300,000 bonds respectively and the juvenile was released to his guardian.
