on Tuesday sacked three government employees, including a police constable, who were allegedly working for terrorist groups
Lashkar-e-Taiba
and Hizbul-Mujahideen.
The accused have been identified as Malik Ishfaq Naseer, the police constable; Ajaz Ahmed, a teacher in the school education department; and Waseem Ahmad Khan, a junior assistant in Government Medical College, Srinagar.

The three are being dismissed with immediate effect, the General Administration Department of the Jammu and Kashmir government said.
Between August 2020, when he took office, and 2024, Sinha terminated more than 70 overground workers/terror associates from government jobs under the Constitution of India.
The fresh dismissals, meanwhile, come more than a month after the devastating Pahalgam terrorist attack in the Union territory. On April 22, Pakistan-backed terrorists killed 26 men, including 25 tourists and a local in Pahalgam's Baisaran valley.
India responded with Operation Sindoor, under which it hit terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, in the early hours of May 7. This triggered a military confrontation between the nuclear-armed rivals.
On May 10, Islamabad reached out to New Delhi requesting cessation of hostilities, resulting in a ceasefire being announced.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar apologised on Wednesday after 11 people were killed in a stampede near the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru. DK Shivakumar accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of politicising the incident. 'The BJP is doing are very sorry for the incident. We will work out a better solution in the future...,' he said. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah addressed a press conference and said the government would also provide free treatment to the injured. "A major tragedy occurred during the victory celebrations. It happened near the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The government has announced a compensation of ₹ 10 lakh for the deceased. The government will provide free treatment to the injured," the CM said. Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, CM Siddaramaiah said, "11 died and 33 were injured in the stampede. This tragedy should not have happened. The government expresses deep sorrow over this incident." The Karnataka CM further asserted that he has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the matter. "I don't want to defend this incident. Our government will not do politics on this. I have ordered a magisterial inquiry and given 15 days' time. People even broke the gates of the stadium. There was a stampede. No one expected such a huge crowd. The stadium has a capacity of only 35,000 people, but 2-3 lakh people came," CM Siddaramaiah said.

Ex-MLA, Congress leader arrested for ‘derogatory comments' on PM Modi on social media
The Chhattisgarh Police have arrested a serving Congress leader and an ex-MLA for allegedly making 'objectionable' remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media. The arrested people have been identified as Arun Tiwari, a 67-year-old ex-MLA formerly associated with the Congress, and Brijmohan Singh, a current Congress leader from Durg district. The arrests have been made in two separate cases. In the first case, Tiwari, a former MLA from Sipat in undivided Madhya Pradesh, was arrested for having made 'objectionable' remarks about the prime minister's estranged wife Jashodaben while speaking about 'Operation Sindoor' on social media. Tiwari, who is no longer with the Congress, was booked under sections section 296 (obscene act) and 352 (intentional insult) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on the back of a complaint registered on June 2. 'Tiwari was produced before a magistrate court Wednesday and has been remanded to judicial custody. He will be in jail till he is granted bail,' a police officer said. In a similar but unrelated case, Congress leader Brijmohan Singh was arrested under sections 296 (obscene act) and 353 (public mischief) of the BNS for having posted 'abusive comments' on Modi on social media. He has been remanded in judicial custody. Reacting to the arrests, Sushil Anand Shukla, the communications head for the Congress in Chhattisgarh said: 'Arun Tiwari is no longer with the Congress party. Brijmohan ji is a good leader and I do not believe he can use such words. It is either a misunderstanding or it is a conspiracy by the BJP'. The development comes less than a month after Operation Sindoor — India's retaliatory strikes in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Pakistan in the aftermath of the April 22 Pahalgam attacks in which 26 people, including a resident of Chhattisgarh's Raipur, was killed.
