Chinese Influencer Xue Ying: There Is Little Reason to Doubt Reports That Iran Shot Down Four Israeli F-35 Jets – It Was Using Chinese Technology; China Needs to Support Iran, or Else the U.S. Will Ta

On June 18, 2025, Chinese social media influencer Xue Ying posted on her Baidu account a video in which she claimed that reports about Iran downing four Israeli F-35 fighter jets are reliable, speculating that Chinese technology played a 'big' role in this operation. She said that China does not want to see Iran collapse, not only because it is a key oil supplier, but also because of its strategic location in the Middle East. She said that Iran's domestically-made Khordad air defense system contains a Chinese GY10 command system, which she claimed also played a role in intercepting 'the majority' of missiles in Israeli strikes in Iran in 2024, and she asserted that the system has proven itself as 'highly reliable.' In addition, Xue said that it is 'imperative' for China to support Iran, ensure its stability, and ensure the regime's survival because the U.S. plans to focus on confronting China after finishing with Iran, having already weakened Russia.

Lebanese politicians seek legal action against Hezbollah's Secretary-General

Shafaq News – Beirut A group of Lebanese lawmakers and political figures announced on Tuesday their intention to file a legal complaint against Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem, accusing him of inciting 'sectarian strife and threatening civil war.' The group, representing the "Sovereign Front" — a group of US and Saudi allied parties and politicians — stated in a joint declaration that Qassem's recent statements come at a 'critical moment in Lebanon's history,' as efforts are underway to curb the proliferation of illegal weapons allegedly backed by Iran. The statement warned that remaining silent in the face of what it described as 'the actions of Qassem and his armed organization' could endanger Lebanese citizens. Qassem, in his latest speech, accused the Lebanese government of 'carrying out the American-Israeli agenda to dismantle the resistance, even at the cost of civil war and internal strife.' He added that Hezbollah would not surrender its weapons 'as long as occupation and aggression persist,' placing full responsibility for any potential conflict on the government. 'We do not seek strife,' he said, 'but others are working toward it.'

Netanyahu rejects latest Gaza proposal

Shafaq News – Middle East On Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the latest ceasefire proposal put forward by Egyptian and Qatari mediators to end the war in Gaza. Citing an official from Netanyahu's office, Israel's public broadcaster reported that he refused to approve the proposal, "which Hamas had accepted.' The official added that Netanyahu dismissed what was described as a partial deal and insisted on the release of all hostages at once. 'We will not leave any hostages behind." Netanyahu's decision came hours after Qatar's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Majed Al-Ansari, announced that Hamas had given a very positive response to the Egyptian-Qatari proposal, affirming that the group's reply closely aligned with terms previously approved by Israel. Al-Ansari further explained that the proposal closely mirrored the plan circulated by the US special envoy Steve Witkoff. 'What Hamas approved yesterday matches 98% of Witkoff's proposal," al-Ansari said.

You betrayed Israel: Netanyahu assails Australian PM

Shafaq News - Middle East / Canberra On Tuesday, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese, of betraying Israel. 'History will remember Albanese for what he is: a weak politician who betrayed Israel and abandoned Australia's Jews,' Netanyahu posted on X. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu:History will remember Albanese for what he is: A weak politicianwho betrayed Israel and abandoned Australia's Jews. — Prime Minister of Israel (@IsraeliPM) August 19, 2025 The remarks followed Australia's decision to recognise the state of Palestine and bar entry to several Israeli figures, including far-right politician Simcha Rothman, who previously described children in Gaza as enemies. Israel retaliated by revoking the visas of three Australian representatives to the Palestinian Authority. Israeli Foreign Affairs Minister Gideon Sa'ar accused Canberra of fuelling anti-Semitism as he announced the visa cancellations on social media. — Gideon Sa'ar | גדעון סער (@gidonsaar) August 18, 2025 Meanwhile, the Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ), which describes itself as the peak body for the Australian-Jewish community, urged restraint. "Calm heads need to take control of the situation otherwise there will be a risk to some $2 billion in bilateral trade. There are real-life consequences here and we want to see the countries work through any issues before things get out of hand," ECAJ co-chief executive Alex Ryvchin remarked. The Prime Minister framed the recognition of Palestine as a defeat for Hamas because of its violent opposition to a two-state solution and desire to replace Israel with a Palestinian state from the river to the sea. He is right about Hamas's intentions but wrong about how they… — Alex Ryvchin (@AlexRyvchin) August 13, 2025 The diplomatic row comes as pressure mounts in Australia over the war in Gaza. More than 100,000 people marched across the Sydney Harbour Bridge last week demanding an end to the conflict. Gaza's Health Ministry has reported 62,004 dead and 156,230 wounded since October 7, 2023, with more than 10,000 still missing. It also said famine has killed 263 people, including 112 children. Government and UN assessments further estimated that 88% of Gaza's buildings have been destroyed. Losses are valued at more than $62 billion, while Israeli forces currently control about 77% of the territory.
